I’m sure you’ve seen the recent news about AI agents, often referred to as ‘Level 3’ by OpenAI. As these advanced AI systems gain traction, how do you see RPA engineers staying relevant in a landscape where companies might increasingly adopt AI agents for more complex tasks?
Good question. I don't worry about AI overtaking RPA at all. Every major RPA vendor I know integrates with AI in some form. UiPath and Automation Anywhere both have connectors that allow it to communicate with ChatGPT and vice versa. RPA is largely plug and play. RPA is also not meant for highly complex tasks. The more simplistic, mundane, and rule based the task is the better. I would say AI Agents SHOULD be used for the more complex tasks.
I’m definitely gonna look more into this job title/position
