How thick is that square tube with the punch holes? I’m curious about the gap in there as compared to the swap gap on my 55’ Customline. I wound up with about 2.25” of gap between the door well and the side of the BMW tub. Luckily they sit flush so my plan is also to run a piece of square tube along the tub and then weld the 2 together with a piece of diamond plate along the top to seal the gaps but I’m still figuring that part out.
That's square tube is factory on the bmw. It's about. .125 thick which is why I welded to it. It's also what I'm going to weld the body to since it's the strongest piece of the bmw chassis.
@@6Maha6Kali6 ohh word that’s awesome, I wish the e39 body had one like that. My tub just mounted to the rocker panel but no real support brackets other than the shaped sheet metal being layered in certain spots. I’ll definitely be keeping that in mind for the next one I swap after this 🤙
@@JerseyArtform Only the x drive cars have that brace down the sides and another brace in the middle of the car. That's why mine doesnt flex because of those three braces. I think there may be a fourth somewhere.
@@6Maha6Kali6 Ohh word thank you for the drop of knowledge, I’m making a note of that now. I find so many cheap/ free BMW’s out here, definitely going to be keeping an eye out for one with the X-Drive now. I’ve got 2 other classic bodies waiting for new life after I get through this one 🤘
Looking good.
Thanks!!
Sick!!!!!
