good job morgan. been doing the same way for years on mine. i do use an air chisel at times to separate the two units. the one thing i learned over time, as long as the brake system operates without maintenance, i now just put in a new bearing assembly and be done with it. not that big of an expense and you know its good for at least 100K. its best to cut the main retaining axle/spindle nut off as many times you will find the threads are shot, designed no to be taken off and reused.
There is always something therapeutic about grabbing the BF Hammer!🤣 Why not leave the lug nut spun on fluss to protect the threads when hammering? Here in the rust belt...I finally stood my ground 20 years ago. If you want me to do a brake job on your vehicle. It gets all new hubs, calipers, rotors, pads and lines. Had two many talk me into going cheap only to bring it back with 1 wheel smoked from a hang up. Do it once and know going out the door it wont be back. I had my fill of finger pointing game over faulty parts or labor just to save someone a few a bucks.👍 The coated rotors are nice...Take care, Morgan!
The threads were fine it was just the smooth shank bit on the end that got a little mushroomed. I hear you on replacing everything, it’s sometimes hard to know when to stop replacing stuff when you go in this deep, might have been a good time to replace axle joints too…..
Good pointers! I haven't touched 2nd gen brakes in 10 yrs and forgot some of those tricks, but needed the know how to deal with the age and rust today. Thanks for the awesome video!
How things have changed. No inner and outer baring race and grease to pack. It is something you saved the old baring after all that beating and banging.
The bearing hub assembly is considered a non serviceable unit, some would say it’s progress but I would have to disagree. I think the truck is a lot harder on the bearings than I could ever be.
Nice job Morgan! You do great work. Thanks much for making theses videos.
I'm tearing mine down tomorrow, but if I remember correctly my rotor and hub are one monolithic unit
Hi glad your hand seems to be OK. 👍🌞🐝

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to stop once you get in that deep. I’ve never had a problem with an axle nut.
Great video sir thank u hope u have a good week!
Good job Morgan 👏
Tools handed down are superior and filled with memories. Hay Morgan take a few days off and come to the Bunyan would love to meet you. 😊😊
I’ve already used up 7 weeks of holiday time this year. I’ve got to get some work done around here. Thanks
That socket trick is awesome!

@WildWestGarage It is hard...I just know on my end of things. It became a whole lot less stressful when it is all or nothing on brake jobs!😀

Great video. But why not run the lugnuts back on almost flush with end of stud so you don't(my luck) miss and bogger up threads.
Buckin needs help with his ol logging truck!! Hope your doing well. Miss your videos! Be safe. Doug
I was at his place the other day. Stay tuned.
Thank s
