- For this Dream Build / Probike Build we visited Giant Germany. Andreas Wolny who assembles the Cadex Tri Bike in this video is for many years at Giant responsible for the technical support of professional teams and individual top athletes. Andreas Wolny led the development of the Cadex Tri. In this video he assembles a Cadex Tri for Kristian Blummenfelt, of course in special custom paint just for the ironman world record holder.
The Cadex Tri Bike is a no-compromise triathlon machine. The radical monocoque construction opens up a new level of aero efficiency. Every tube, every angle and all components are designed and matched to achieve best aerodynamic performance.
Both nutrition and fluid can be stowed and accessed in the down tube without leaving the optimal riding position. The large volume hydration reservoir in the upper part of the down tube is connected to an extended drinking tube in the stem.
So that every athlete finds its ideal seat position and can achieve maximum performance on long distances the Giant Cadex Tri offers countless adjustment options that can be implemented quickly and easily.

Best, best, best !! 😍😍
Thank you for doing all of the weigh-ins at once in the beginning so they're easier to skip :)
No worries 😅
I’m a proud owner of the cadex tri with the exact same setup and this bike is FAST! Thanks for the video! Gave me a deeper appreciation to my mechanics as well as the engineering prowess behind this rig! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
cograts! thats such a cool bike to race with 🤩 the mechanic assembling it is the man behind the project you have to thank for 🤗
What is your CdA on it?
I love the quote near the stem, the bike itself is just a masterpiece ✨️
It reminds me a lot of those app rental bikes that you find in the nearest hedge
that would be a fun triathlon. out of the water and rent whatever bike is around 🤣
the cadex might be a little faster though 😉
That cable routing looks like the nightmare of all nightmares
thats way easier than most modern one piece cockpits. the hardest part is the rear brake cable wi
which makes an awkward turn in the top of the fork but there is loads of space to get it in. 👍
It looks like a mama bicycle.
My first thougth
Mama wants a step through, makes her transition from water at Kona easier.
easily half a second faster! 🤣
Got to be one fancy mama to ride one of this though.
fastest way to get to the grocery store
God I love tri bikes. Some wild stuff out there
It's really amazing what you can do without the UCI limitations 🤩
If seen a lot of BikeBuild videos but damm ist that bike a pain in the ass to build. #godsavethemechanic
really? thats way easier to build to build than most modern road bike with a one piece cockpit 😅
by the way... the mechanic is the engineer who developed that bike and he's pretty happy about the cable routing 😃
It’s not a very hard bike to build at all, for how complicated it looks it goes to together super easy.
Unreal looking bike…. Soo radical but that’s what makes it super fast 😍😍😍 fairly heavy though 😬 would like to see it against a pro road TT bike and rider 🤔😃
yeah, fairly heavy but with the tool box, empty bento box and drinking system it's not even race ready 😬
i guess that might be really hard on the "pro" rider.... around 40km at the world champion ships compared to the180km at the ironman might be a little tough to compare 😅
What an incredible machine!!!! It was super inspiring to see the cleanliness of the workshop, attention to detail, and the design nuances of the bike. Not to mention the meticulousness of Andreas and the lovely background music. You have a new subscriber!!!
I literally can’t believe you were able to build that bike, truly amazing bike and athlete
we got some really good contacts 😃🤗
I would have no idea on how to pack this bike for travelling. What a nightmare to put together
Actually thats probably one of the easiest tri bikes to travel with. You just have to unscrew the 4 long bolts a little bit which hold the bars in place and you can put them to the side. you can see them really good at 7:49 No need to take it all off or get the spacers out, it really was made with traveling in mind.
And there is an Box made by Topeak for the bike with an integrated bike stand for maintenance during races abroad. 👍 its the big black cadex box underneath the bike frames behind the mechanic in the background at 0:29
I work Giant UK - what A Build 😮😮
Awesome & Thanks :)
Perfekt 👍
I don't see a frame like this 😁that very cool 😇
thanks! 🤗
10 kg perfect , that's insane
Super bike,super cool
never have i ever thought i would see a TT bike look similar to a downhill bike
Crazy Bike!
crazy fast 🤩
I can build mtbs all day but looking at this makes me dizzy, good work sir
thanks 🤩🤗
Dope
oh yes!! 🤩
Imagine commuting to work using this.
perfect, lots of space for lunch ins the feed box 😅
ordered ✅✅
Very nice 👍
thank you 🤗
There's so many details i absolutely love about this bike and just as many I absolutely hate !
It's perfect in so many areas and so bad in others, and why, oh why if you're gonna design some kind of a nod to Mike Burrows TT bikes of old would you have it look in the end like a city rental ebike ?...
because with the "city rental bike design" they are able to build a time trial bike with the integrated feed and drinking options down to frame size xxs witch can easily refilld on the fly and don't spoil the aerodynamics. and because it's fast as f... 🤩😅
speed machine!!!
🚀
"Hey I wanna lower the bars could you remove stop spacers ?" 💀
you know they are probably rinding 99,9% of the time on the extensions 😉 and yeah, you can take those spacers out 😅
@@roadbikechannel I meant the spacers where the extensions are, but that's nice from Cadex if you don't have to recable everything just to remove some spacers
Just ordered a frameset…what is the correct size of the BB that I need to get. Still waiting to get the frame sent. Would like to have everything on hand. Great video! I’ve prob watched it 100 times! For reference I will be using sram drivetrain. Red components with dub crankset
Salute, old mechanic
he's the chief engineer of this bike 👍
Great design! Not something that I would be able to build myself but more than happy to ride. How would this bike feel riding slow? Caffe rides, uphill step climbs?
probably not that fun... how's a F1 car for grabbing a the weeks shopping? 😉😂
@@roadbikechannel I'm more for a Porsche 911 GT3 comparison myself. Race car but you can drive around 😁
Esta horrible... me encanta!!!
Nosotros también! 😃
Beautiful bike! But it looks like a pain to pack for travel and races!
Actually thats probably one of the easiest tri bikes to travel with. You just have to unscrew the 4 long bolts a little bit which hold the bars in place and you can put them to the side. you can see them really good at 7:49 No need to take it all off or get the spacers out, it really was made with traveling in mind.

It comes with its own travel case that has specific parts to pack it easily, would be the easiest tri specific bike to travel with. Super easy to pack and rebuild.
I’am curious to have you thought on that bike after all the bikes you’ve went through , would you say this is an over level in engineering , I want to buy one , that bike look so complete so well engineered in every aspect , the cadex wheels are awesome and in the ranking speed test they are the fastest for that bike same for the cadex tyres , I don’t know an other brand where you can have the wheels the tyres made by the same company . At first the look of that bike was intriguing and ugly BUT more I look at it , more i research on it and more I like it the look now is not anymore an issue but awesome once you understand all the good things that bike delivers . My CERVELO P3x has to go after 4 years now my new dream bike is the CADEX 🤩
My friend put this bike together for his son and before I knew it he was done ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L When the son came to put it together he was surprised to see it was already done. All he had to do was take the bike to get air and be on his way. My friend did not have any major problems putting this bike together; small issue was putting one of the brakes on straight; however when the son got home he was able to fix it. The bike rides well gears move correctly; good bike for the price. Wrote review after the son took the bike. Sorry.
gantengg broooooo🔥🔥🔥
This looks somewhat similar to Graeme Obree's old faithful.
it is something, no one ever needed...
because it's faster or easier to transport? 😉
Frame looks like exercise bike. You could put screen on handlebar.
The Bike Is a one fucking Mostró!
fucking fast 😉
deberia llamarse la bestia
Marten Van Riel has the 70.3 WR
yeah, that wasn't a day to remember for Kristian 🙈
sorry we got that wrong and thanks for the heads up! 👍
It's the full ironman distance which really matters for most anyway😃
Much like the Speedmax symbolizes Jan Frodeno (ruclips.net/video/_c4aH1vu4OY/видео.html), this one symbolizes Kristian Blummenfelt. But the build of the Speedmax seems much more refined; this is more like a proof of concept. The front wheel is impressive though, must be aero as hell.
Does anyone can tell me what he puts at 6:15 for the basebar grips ? I have a similar setup and they keep sliding.
It looks like he sprayed substance like the wd40 to slide the grip into place and the 3m double-sided adhesive tape is keeping the grip from moving around.
I think you will find it’s brake cleaner, slide on them it evaporates.
Yes, it's brake cleaner to get them on 👍
with duraace would be lighter maybe 9.9kg
considering all the storage space in the bike it doesn't really matter that much. that's like one or two gels more or less so it really comes down to personal preference (or sponsoring partner) 👍
How much ? 😬
7000€ for the frameset
4000€ for the wheels
3000€ for the groupset
and the labour, depending on wether you can build it yourself or if a workshop is doing it for you.
Nice build, but in my opinion it’s a hideous, heavy bike!! Undoubtedly fast though, but still
we need to know the builders/mechanic story. seems this is his brainchild.
I respect the aero and the technology. But damn, this is by far the ugliest bike I have ever seen in my life. Looks like these rental bikes you can get in the bigger cities. 🤣🤣
ever tried racing those? 😜 you may argue about the looks, but not the aerodynamics 😉
@@roadbikechannel If form following function is the norm, this is the ugliest interpretation of aerodynamics.
@@jestag2 Aesthetics is personal but aerodynamics and physics isn’t. To each their own I guess :)
That’s what I thought first then more I look at it and more I like it , without mentioning this is a very fast bike also I like innovation that frame and fork are amazing , fast to assemble, hydration hidden in frame , crazy aero , handlebars adjustment 👍🏻 ,awesome bike , I will buy one .
Not a single torque wrench needed. Shows you that an experienced mechanic can build a bike by feel every time.
the mechanic happens to be the chief engineer of the bike and has build all the bikes of the sub7/sub9 project. so yeah, he's experienced 🤩
He torqued everything at the end FYI
Only for me, this bike looks horrible?
Really sucks.
16:17 Don't ever put that much torque on a pedal.
21:41 not exactly sub 7, but a very racy example of a ladies' bicycle nevertheless
the sub 7 comes the from the event where they tried to beat the 7 and 8 hour mark for a full triathlon (men/women) ruclips.net/video/d1JADUlkeb8/видео.html
Man this bike is ugly, looks like a lady’s rental bike indeed, that handlebar doesn’t look very stiff.
the handlebars are way stiffer than most thanks to the dual crown fork design and not having an traditional steerer and the bars speperatly.
@@roadbikechannel Good to know I thought that the contact area between the fork and the two handlebar pieces would make it less stiff compared to a one piece, how is width adjustability? could I fit a 380 mm?
How is adjustability in general? Stack is obvious but is the reach adjustment for the handlebar? Setback and saddle height look good
Still the most beautiful but also the ugliest bike I’ve ever seen
🤣
