It's June 6, 2024. 80's years ago, thousands of young soldiers landed on French beaches to liberate us. MERCI
This film should be a mandatory for viewing by every high school history class as a means to define what sacrifice is and what the sacrifices of a generation meant to the world.
I totally agree and they should be required to watch the Band of brothers.
But that would offend so many genders. Is it woth the white privilege screaming and equity shouting?
It use to be in secondary school in UK well atleast in my school in east London
WW2 veterans are almost as brave as the LGBTQ+ community
At least the high school I went to, this movie was part of the curriculum for our world history class.
However only the D-Day scenes, not the storyline of the film.
So we only watched the initial scenes, Omaha beach, breaking into German barriers and attacking the bunkers.
Not the entire film.
My dear Mrs Ryan: It's with the most profound sense of joy that I write to inform you your son, Private James Ryan, is well and, at this very moment, on his way home from European battlefields. Reports from the front indicate James did his duty in combat with great courage and steadfast dedication, even after he was informed of the tragic loss your family has suffered in this great campaign to rid the world of tyranny and oppresion. I take great pleasure in joining the Secretary of War, the men and women of the U.S. Army, and the citizens of a grateful nation in wishing you good health and many years of happiness with James at your side. Nothing, not even the safe return of a beloved son, can compensate you, or the thousands of other American families, who have suffered great loss in this tragic war. I might share with you some words which have sustained me through long, dark nights of peril, loss, and heartache. And I quote: "I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." -Abraham Lincoln. Yours very sincerely and respectfully, George C. Marshall, General, Chief of Staff.
Thank you for this.
One of the greatest speeches ever uttered in film history.
Dude, this hit me in the feels.
The greatest of all the speeches.
Muchas gracias.🙏🙏🙏🇨🇴🇪🇦
my uncle was at Normandy, survived, he was just 22, never had the chance to go back as he passed in 2002, never talked about it, we saved his uniform. 3rd Army and 7th army, served
Under Bradley, Ike, Patton, and Simpson. Rest in peace.
my father inlaw fought in korea.he was there just the last 9 months, both sides fought heavily as to define where the dmz border was going to be settled. he was wounded twice, patched up and sent back to the line. he never talked about it till the last two years of his life. i had a great uncle that fought in the pacific ,the stories of war, awfull.
We visit Normandy regularly. The Americans have a lot of respect from the French. You still see many stars and stripes flying. They won't ever forget...
My Father served under Patton for 4 years. Saw heavy action all 4 years, including the Battle of the Bulge. Then became a Chicago Police officer for 36 years. Raised 7 kids. My HERO.......never talked about the war, too painful. It affected his life forever. So when I hear Draft dodging pieces of shit like Trump talk about being a patriot, I want to puke!
True heroes ❤
my grampa was among the second landing on omaha he died peacefully in 2006. i still have his medals and his helmet. they are family relics that are passed down. he also had some other stuff like packed cans with sand and dirt from when he landed to where he fought.
80 years ago the Allies saved human civilization. Never forget the people who sacrifice all for their friends!
This music is so incredibly perfect for this movie. Haunting, beautiful, powerful, hopeful, uplifting, occasionally heartbreaking….John Williams is just so good at what he does.
Man I got through the whole soundtrack without crying and then the finale came on and the chorus started singing and the music was growing stronger and louder and I just was so moved. I instantly teared up and shed a couple of tears while smiling. It’s such a beautiful piece. It’s triumphant yet sad. It’s heartbreaking that so many people died in such a horrible war. But they gave their lives for a cause that they believed in. And over 80 years later people still remember them an honor them.
The brilliance of John Williams evokes the emotion and memory of our grandparents sacrifice ,such a gifted human being
I am an Australian , my mother's sister met and married a Marine who was stationed in Melbourne . He went on to fight in 3 wars . 2nd world war , Korea , and as an older man in Vietnam. A true gentleman , never spoke about it .The start of this movie reminds me so much of him .
My grandfather fell on August 1st, 1944 in Normandy. He was a German soldier, 2 daughters a loving wife. He didn't want to die, in endless letters from the field post (one every damn day) he cursed this war. Unfortunately you're not returned like many others. i have been to normandy so many times the many graves of all nations are a warning to us. but it seems in vain.
I cannot speak for anyone but myself but I am deeply sorry for the loss you, your grandmother and your whole family suffered. War is hell and that applies to both sides of a conflict.
Music is written like this once in a life time and it is such a great tribute to the extrordinary men that gave their lives and those who served then My deepest thanks to them and thank you John Williams.
I post in honor and memory of my former neighbor, Walter, who stormed the beaches at Normandy and lost his right arm from the shoulder down. He made it through, got his education and became a bank President. He was a great man and i miss him. Also, for my Dad who served 4 years in the South Pacific flying the PPY's out of Australia. You came home safely, married your Aussie sweetheart and raised 9 good kids. Lives well lived in sacrifice to others. Nothing more honorable than that.
John Williams!! Master of 21.Century!!! I've been listening to his music since I was 12...now I'm 43
He’s got one last score to give before he retires. Indiana Jones 5.
And with all due respect, he will turn the baton over to the new legend, Hans Florian Zimmer!
Anyone who needs recovery in your mind for stress,
This sequence of music is very very healing. Especially is you see that the film centers on brothers who stick together through life's toughest moments.
Used to watch it with my Pa when I was a little boy.. then when I was 9 he took his own life. This movie is one of the only lasting memories he left me. Thanks for the upload!
one of my all time favs; infinitely haunting; speaks of the incalculable loss and sacrifice of war; even sadder when present generations forgot why they died;
not totally forgotten, even here in Europa a lot of people we feel that without USA we would still being a Nazi farm or a Gulag camp. Sorry for my english

Such a beautiful soundtrack from a phenomenal movie. Brings so much emotion. 😥
I'm not an American, but my soul is. God, it felt good to be a citizen of the United States. I really miss being an American in the 1950s, until Vietnam took my life in 1969 and I woke up in a strange new country speaking a different language. I realized I wasn't home at 5 years old when I first saw the American flag on TV. I can't wait to go back to my true homeland. I will defend and love you in as many lifetimes as it takes, my dear America. see you. enjoy life in USA, one day you will miss it.
You need to see a doctor
You are just reliving a previous lifetime. Reincarnation exists and is real and we have been living many lives for thousands if not millions of years. I too remember several past lives.
@@negansaviors4419how about trying to understand other peoples beliefs rather than just condemning anything different? He was perfectly reasonable if you believe in reincarnation.

This soundtrack always makes me tear up a little
I’ve just been sitting for almost 30 minutes quietly listening to this music. It’s relaxing in a very emotional and moving way if that makes any sense. Part of me wants to cry but the other part of me is ok with leaning back against the wall and just taking the music in. This music isn’t just music to listen to or hear in the background of a movie. It’s beautiful and powerful. You have to sit and just kinda let it melt into you. You have to embrace this music. You have to relax and just forget about all of your cares in life for a little while and just embrace this music.
The first few seconds of this video sends shivers down my spine and I'm not an american and I never served in any army nor did any one of my family, but this movie and this music is just something else something that gets to you no matter who you are or where you come from.
Listening for Tom Sizemore thanks for being a good actor and your contribution to this war classic.
May he rest in peace along with Harrison Young(Old Ryan), all the people worked on this film and the allies who died in WWII.
Dennis Farina (Lt Col Walter Anderson) and Harve Presnell (Gen George Marshall) are also no longer with us.
This music will always remind me of my time in the 101st, and what it was like to be around such outstanding human beings, who from all walks of life, were willing to work together to take the fight to our enemies.
Thank you for your service, Screaming Eagle! My school classes and myself had a ministry with C Company, 3rd Bat of the 187th from 2002-2007 and it changed our lives forever. RAKKASAN!
Thank you for your service, sir
Thanks for your service!
My great uncle SSG Allen, Link 115 INF 29 ID survived the Normandy invasion only to be KIA on July 19, 1944. 'When you go home, tell them of us and say for your tomorrow, we gave our today...
Love you deeply brothers who fought to save the world and you must be pained to see the condition of this fallen world now.... Please don't think your price was in vein......I'm with rivers of massive tears in emotion and gratitude. Until we meet again brothers on another star by our Savior Jesus... Thank you deeply ~~~
"Was I, a Good Man?" What a Powerful sceen at the end of, "Saving Private Ryan". When the now Much Older, John Ryan asks his wife, that question, that he had promised the Tom Hanks' character when "the Captain" was dying. What a "Gut-Punch".
To this day, I ask my wife of 48 years, each and every Memorial Day and Veteran's Day that same question, "Was I an Honorable and Good Man?"
I served in Vietnam, as a Combat Medic, from: 1967-1969. To this day, I still do not know, if I was responsible, for any of those 58,200 Names, on the "Vietnam War Memorial" Wall, in Washington, DC.?
You were not responsible, I am totally convinced,. For life has it s ways, even very cruel, and takes in it’s trap men & women who did not deserve the destiny they got, but got it all the same. And it s not anybody else’s responsibility.
Or as a medic, how many you saved from being on that wall. God bless fellow combat veterans!
You can’t think like that you mostly saved a heck of lives there’s men who are still alive thanks to you and there children will live in there and your honour. 100%✊❤️
Every memorial day. I come to listen to music if saving private Ryan. And I can sit, think, and listen. About the stories of men and women who's stories were forever lost in an instant or through grueling pain. Who's stories I will never be able know, this things. The cruelty of man, makes me tear up. Thank you for your service!
God bless you sir. I salute you and all the vets that served our nation. My deepest regret in my life, is that I could not serve our country. I was drafted at the end of the Vietnam war, too late to go. I still wanted to enlist in the Marines but my parent forbid it. I guess my WW11 Father knew what that meant.
thank you for this tribute to honor our veterans and what they did for mankind . the world needs to "EARN IT"!!!!
sadly I'm not sure if we deserve their sacrifice these days...
Exactly!
Whenever I feel low I listen to this one, and it will give me a haapy tears/goosebumps/hope/fighting spirit/confidence. Full of positive vibe man.
I'm going through the worst time of my life. hearing this gives me so much hope. I hope I can read this in a while and smile sincerely.
Wishing you the best!
❤
Praying for you.
My dad loved war movies especially Saving Private Ryan. His memory lives on in me and I've been loving this film and the soundtrack to it is just so beautiful. I play this every time I want some peace. Here is to his memory and the memory of the fallen who gave their lives so that the world doesn't have to live in tyranny and oppression.
means of defense against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home.”
“James Madison”
About 12 years ago I visited the beaches at Arromanche in France. While I was there, as I struggled reading the posters with my rusty French, I was overwhelmed by a sense of sorrow and sadness. The men who were there, both Allied and Axis, were at hell's door. And some sadly fell into the pit of fire. The Germans had mothers too, let us not forget. But thinking of "our side", they always say on Remembrance Day _They gave all their tomorrows so that we might have today._ Their supreme sacrifice was to risk and indeed lose their lives; we will never be able to thank them enough, will we?
All the soldiers did what there government told them to do.On both sides. Sometimes I wonder who exactly is the murderer in all of this 🤔? God bless all of them
As they grow old we must never forget, the price of freedom was paid by so many. War is hell, freedom comes at a cost, never take for granted the sacrifice of others so we might live. To all those who served and continue to serve, thank you!
Hermosa pelicula no me canzo de verla, el buen significado de Honor, liderazgo, y lealtad. Beautiful movie I can't get enough of watching it, the good meaning of Honor, leadership, and loyalty.
This John Williams masterpiece encapsulates the Evil Senless waste of human life that all wars are.
The 1st 10-15 minutes of this movie, accompanied by its soundtrack...it feels like it could tear thru steel! That powerful it is! And not only the beginning.
FWIW- My father was in the 14th (EDIT: 24th) Marines of the 4th Marine Division and made four amphibious landings in WW2- and another at Inchon during the Korean War. He sat down to watch this film one evening. He later told me that the first 20 minutes or so was fairly accurate in portraying what an opposed amphibious landing was like.
He also said that after those 20 minutes or so, the film became increasingly boring, so that he turned it off- which was a bit surprising.
Best Wishes...
masterclass soundtrack for an all time great movie...............
I love the movie and the score is amazing!!!😲🥰
Cpt Miller: Earn this
Pvt Ryan : What’s that sir?
Cpt Miller: James….EARN THIS….Earn It.

All time best war movie.. love from india
Truly beautiful and sentimental music
I have seen this movie once. Even though I’ve only seen it the one time it is still one of my favorite movies. I started crying about 8 minutes into watching it and then cried on and off the rest of the movie. But my gosh I loved this movie. I had heard my dad talk about it my entire life. It’s like his favorite movie. He’s seen it probably 15 times maybe more. So I knew it had to be good. Before we watched it my mom warned my sister and I about how brutal a viewing it was going to be and I agreed. The first scene is known for being the most intense, horrifying first scene in any movie. Like I said I was crying within at least the first ten minutes of the movie and spent the rest of the movie either on the verge of tears or actually crying. But it is just an amazing movie. The visual effects were insane. The acting was profound. The music was moving and beautiful. It’s just an all around amazing movie. Not a movie I would watch every day because it’s so heartbreaking and intense but definitely one that I would watch multiple times over my life just to experience how powerful and moving a story it is.
Wow this sounds so good! Those horns and strings! MAN!!
Thank you for your comment, I was a soldier myself for 40 years, I know what it's like. So many comrades without losing any sense. We see it now in Ukraine, why ???????
Un des meilleurs films sur la seconde guerre mondiale très belle composition de John Williams
Excellent music to work by
Sem duvida o melhor filme que ja assisti, que Deus tenha todos aqueles que lutaram nessa guerra em um lugar especial ao seu lado !!!

Una obra maestra de la música, digna de una obra maestra de la cinematografía.
Thank you.

We are gonna find him. And we are gonna get him. The hell. Outta there.
Love it!
Its so great

John Williams is a master of musical score. BTW, my sister wanted to know if you could do a suite for Little Women 1994. It is indeed an amazing and uplifting score by Thomas Newman. Thanks!
There is a really good reason why they call the WWII generation the "Greatest Generation". . .
That Medal of Honor vibe
Definitely.

amazing!
Terimakasih kawan karena membuatkan lagu ini jadi saya teringat masa kecil saya dengan nenek:)
I absolutely love the movie. The book though.... give the characters alot more back story and justices. Man the book is so much more incredible as harsh as that may sound. Alot more goes on especially in the final battle. Also upham is given alot better ending than in the movie. They did him so dirty in the movie.
❤💯
merci au américain et canadien et anglais et français libre d'avoir sauver la France mon pays merci pour tout
So what did they give their lives for??? I'm pretty sure it was not for the Europe we have now.

Maravilhoso!
I just want to know, if we pray to God to win this battle, who is on their side?
Who??
Another reason why it is a mystery to me that people believe in such creatures. 😅
If God is with us who can be against us the devil is against us
@@alexschoppe6742 the world is black n white hm
If we pray to God then His opponent is always Lucifer and his minion Satan. With the revolt of Lucifer came the beginning of evil and everything bad started at that time.
No one will see the end of war except only in death because humanity seems to mainly choose to forget history and is thus doomed to repeat it.
No disrespect to John Williams, but for the first three and a half minutes you are listening to a variation of Aaron Coplands 3rd Symphony.
Couple of quotes from The Lincoln Portrait too - intentional, I think.

My dream...i always want to ba a US Marin but Not my luck ..it's a Honor to serve for a country..
For nearly 80 years, we thought we were over this nightmare, and now it's come back and more people are dying in their thousands. As we remember the fallen on the beachs of Normandy, let's also spare a thought to the Ukrainians who are dying in their thousands as they stand between us and the Russians. SLAVA UKRAINI!
Indeed friend wars are going around us we said we would help and yet we are not doing well with either of you. It hurts my heart. I am so very sorry.

No taking into account the nationalist connotation of the movie. The OST conveys this feeling of duty, loyalty and bravery. Peace to all those man regardless their nationality (both the allies and the axis) who fought for a better world. For their deaths were not in vain.
No peace to Nazis or Nazi supporters. PERIOD.
