I so enjoy and admire your collaboration. Thank you for the preview and insights into the CD. I am still puzzled by the title, Rhythm and the Borrowed Past. I expect the booklet and the music itself will make it clear. Looking forward to the receive the CD.

Um ehrlich zu sein, I do not like, nor do I enjoy contemporary classical music - music written mostly after 1960. However, your playing is simply phenomenal and expresses everything that this music might possibly convey (and which I don't quite understand.) Congratulations on this fantastic recording. Having been a session player for many years, I love the feel of the studio this video presents.

thanks so much!! It actually took a lot of time for me to get fully invested emotionally and musically into these works. Auerbach is not as challenging, as it's very much Shostakovich-like language. But Richard Beaudoin's piece requires a sense of free association and free expression that I had to continuously explore. I do believe in the power of the piece, and I find it stands up to repeat listening. I also believe that music should be played utilizing all of the qualifications of the violin. One thing I dislike about contemporary music is the total disregard of everything the violin can do. Why even use a violin?

@@DanielKurganov Indeed. When I first encountered Stravinsky's concerto, I thought it was odd, but I recognized that it was totally in his language. After repeated hearings, I grew to love it. Congratulations also on the articles about you (and this recording) in the Strad. It doesn't get any better than that!!
