I will buy one of these simply because I like the passion of the CEO. Seems genuine and understands that watches aren't supposed to be financial assests but practical tools.
This brand continues to impress and interest me. Having chased and obtained the usual suspects of Omega, Rolex, and Tudor, I’m contemplating not continuing the upward trend in price and exploring other less well known brands. Submariners are probably the most common luxury pieces I see and the attitude that goes with them. I say this as a Sub owner. I guess I am becoming attracted to less pretentious pieces and might spend my money on the smaller makers. This is such an emotional hobby. Lol.
Greetings from the UK. My next new watch will be a model from Frderique Constant. They really do offer some excellent and relatively affordable choices for the money. As a modest collector of watches, it is great to see that the Swiss Industry can still provide for a variety of price points. To me at least, Tissot is the new Seiko. The offerings of Longines and Hamilton also deserve a lot of praise.
*I recently gained an appreciation for Frederique Constant; when I originally looked at this brand on multiple occasions in 2022, and 2023, I missed the higher quality pieces; and I didn't see the brand for what it truly is; now I am seriously considering purchasing.* *Winks*
@@WatchAdvisor *The tourbillon pieces; and the Slimline Monolithic 40Hz; I am wondering when the newer upgraded version of the Slimline will be ready, or should I purchase one now? Or wait on the Slimline and purchase a Tourbillon.* *[And unlike the Grand Seiko electro-mechanical controlled by an integrated circuit., which has a smooth sweeping second hand; the Slimline is all mechanical, which is very important to me.]*
Love both the Moonphase Date + Moonphase Big Date complications from FC! However, I do wish the FC Big Date came with a 5 year warranty as well especially since it has more complications.
Hello, I recently acquired my first Frederique Constant while on vacation. I bought a Classic Cantree in blue. It's not available in the United States and therefore I feel I bought something very special. It's a beautiful time piece, one that receives many compliments. I've always believed that Frederique Constant is one of the best values in watches. The quality of the time pieces and the attention to detail is fantastic.
I have an FC flyback chrono as well as an Alpina Startimer GMT and an Alpina Seastrong diver. I will be adding an FC perpetual calendar to my collection soon.
That FC has one of the best salmon dials I've ever seen. They are really doing the best work in this price range with the in house movements, monolithics, and complications. And now that I know Neils is reading the comments, Sir, please do a 36-38mm version of the salmon dial monolithic. For my wrist 40mm is just too large for a dress watch, irrespective of the lug to lug - its how the size of the dial makes it look especially with a thin bezel. Call it unisex and market it to everyone. Anyways awesome releases and video, thanks!
Thank you for another great episode. I like very much how you talk with the all CEO`s. I respect that... Fc great watches and I am hapoy that manufacture moonphase is smaller now. Great move FC! I need review my 2024 aquisition plans 😉 Keep doing as you do Watchadvisor team 👍
I have owned a startimer in the past and an Alpiner 4 now... One area where i think they could improve is the regulation of the movement.. The accuracy is at Seiko level only... Lovely watches with regard to fit and finish tho
Does a manufacture movement always better than the Sellita or others factory movements? Or is it important only for collector? Thank you for your wonderful reviews
It's very personal! Overall the attention going to manufactured in house is higher quality and the signature for the brand. Selitta and Eta are more mass production and thus less expensive
I get a lot of compliments about my Alpina Startimer Pilot. I just wish Alpina could invest in better movement because 38-hour power-reserve from the Sellita based AL-525 caliber is quite underpowered .
@@WatchAdvisor Not necessarily an in-house manufacture calibre. And I have no issue with Sellita (or ETA), It's cost effective. I just wish Alpina could perhaps pick a Sellita calibre with more power-reserve as base. I really like the new Seastrong GMT and I see it is using a calibre with 50-hour power-reserve so it's good.
I’m surprised by the prices of the watches. They are extremely inexpensive for the quality. How does the warranty works, if I buy the watch from the website.
Sellita is a great movement extremely accurate, my dad praises daily how good a movement it is. Alpiner Sport watch needs work though, the dial and hands are quite boring, case is attractive but need more refinement, I think FC can sell more pieces if they stop focusing on older gents dress watch so much instead bring out more stunning sport watches. How about a true sub $5000 pieces to compete with Rolex sub or GMT? They are at about $10k to $12K price point, can FC produce something stunning at $5k? Now that would be interesting. Dress watches quite frankly are very boring, especially most watches you will find gents wearing are steel sport watches.
So whatever happened to the revolutionary Monolithic movement watch? They should reissue it in a case that's more avant-garde or eccentric, in keeping with the nature of the movement, maybe like a Louis Erard. Currently the case is very bland, looking like any other watch, and I suspect sales aren't good since I don't see it being marketed or highly reviewed.
I wanna know it as well. That movement is something new but whole watch isn't to my taste. This new one with 706 caliber - need to look for and AD in Ireland to check it out.
Don't agree. 3000 to 4000 Euro is no door opener. Most people have to save money for a year or more to buy this. These watches are nice and very well made, but still very expensive for an average guy. This is a point of view of rich guys.
Not a.big fan of those two brands but now that Citizen owns them , maybe some better stuff will come out ? These pieces are OK , not bad I guess. Still I would put my money elsewhere even if I had to spend a little more .
@@WatchAdvisor No not these particular models . Not a fan of dress type watches and 39mm is too small for me as a sports watch . 40 -41 mm would have been better . Again I think most of these guys are targeting the Asian market and they have smaller wrists , hence the smaller sizes ….Yes , I know , watches have also been trending down in size …..Again 39 mm as a sports watch is too small for the average Caucasian man, at least for me. After watching the video again though , I think for the price points they did a good job . Better than what they put out over the previous years in my opinion. I m just not convinced about the brands .
No! No! No! What a silly comparison! FC is an excellent and good looking Swiss Made watch powered by an in-house developed and manufactured calibre in this case…
@@WatchAdvisor I mean it's great quality for the price for sure but their designs are either hommages or completely random. FC has absolutely no specific identity of its own. They propose ok looking random watches with good specs and build quality for the price, which is nice, but has its own limitations.
@@WatchAdvisor Take a little more risk with the designs, try to imagine what should be the recognizable design features of a FC watch. After having a little bit of the same issue, Christopher Ward for example has been working on it and they're getting there. No reason FC can't do it too but that just may not be their strategy, time will tell.
Bravo to FREDERIQUE CONSTANT. Very nice watches for 2024. This guy has a good point of view on the market, in my opinion.
Niels and his team know what they do… both brands are very successful…

Elon Musk has elevated the craftsmanship and elegance of Frederique Constant. Amazing!

That Alpina Seastrong is very tempting and the Frederique Constant is delightful. Both are priced very well.🙏

@@WatchAdvisor I liked the first dress watch with the silver dial and moonphase
Good choice 👍🏼

It is only a question of what people are willing to pay … would Alpina watches be fitted with in-house calibres the price would be a different one…

More than this! Stunning 😍
I’m surprised by the prices of the watches. They are extremely inexpensive for the quality. How does the warranty works, if I buy the watch from the website.

Kissing moon is cool!
Isn’t it romantic?
The 40mm moon face is a nice watch. However, it's too big for my 15.5cm wrist.
Try one on. You might think differently.
Yes, try it first....
Moonphase one looks better than Longines's moonphase imo.
The best is to compare both watches 1:1 on the wrist in different light conditions…
