    Really good video, the attention the detail is great but unfortunately this is an illegal handwrap as stacking is not allowed under the unified rules of mixed martial arts. Stacking is layering gauze and tape. Gauze first then tape. Cant be tape, gauze, tape.

      Thanks buddy, I understand the unified rules and it really comes down to the state athletic commission you are dealing with. Always ask before doing it so you don't have to cut off and redo. Thanks for the reply

    But I will say that around here we have officials that seem to make things up as the go along. Last fight I had wrapped my fighters hands in a very normal way. He comes back from glove check saying "the official said you cannot involve the thumb with gauze or tape.......WTF are you talking about dude??!!!?
    Whatever, I just cut it out with the MMA glove on. I don't have time to deal with these self proclaimed experts. I've found it NEVER worth trying to fight something with these guys, they just dig in deeper.
    I broke my own rules that day. normally I ALWAYS print out and bring with me the sanctioning body's own rule set to a fight. That is the ONLY way its going to be worth your time to argue anything. Otherwise it is my experience that they will simply lie.

      lol, yes I have seen some crazy stuff with athletic commissions. I once bought a box of 200 rolls of 1" athletic tape. The commission told me I could not use it. I asked if it was because they could not sign off on them because I have a grey sharpie. He could not answer. Just do-it. lol

    Illegal wrap. You cannot layer gauze/tape/gauze/tape. At least around here you can't.

      I would not say illegal, but in a way you are correct. They say their is unified rules but unfortunately with out a national commission things change everywhere you go. I taught Tate the cut-man for the UFC and he is able to use this in every state because the UFC handles their own rules and seem to get away with it. I use this in every state that I go to and only two state athletic commissions have ever said no to it. It was New York and New Jersey. Thanks for the reply

      this is how we do it where i fight, i believe this is ufc rules as well

      Yeah, in boxing this practice is known as “stacking”. Canelo got a lot of heat for using it against GGG. Honestly it is an unfair advantage, provided only one fighter is using this style. It’s like a fuckin cast.

      @@harrypoosie3035 a lot places allow stacking to some extent. I think what the commission is really looking for is using more tape and guaze than what's allowed for each hand. Stitch Duran has a video with Kevin Iole talking about how stacking is permitted in some places. As stated earlier, there isn't anything unified for all states to adhere to. So obviously everyone will not be on the same page. Its up to the trainer/fighter to make sure that if the state commission allows you to do certain things that may be to your advantage, you should be aware of your limits because your opponent may already be doing so.
      You can listen Nassim Richardson talk about (boxing) Bernard Hopkins vs Tito Trinidad fight. Tito was forced to rewrap his hands, not because it was illegal just that the method he was using was not allowed in that state, and obviously he was able to do it everywhere else

    Why dont'cha buy mma gloves?? They arent as expensive as the amount of tape you used there

    • @trevorwittman9981
      @trevorwittman9981 6 лет назад +7

      The money makers being the hands are well worth the investment to protect. Injuries can be way more expensive than investing in protection. Thanks for the reply
