Most cardboard since most residents don't know how to recycle or don't know which week it is ends up getting mixed with the trash. Wood was at one time collected separately but was later mixed with trash.
when i worked that was a big no no and the supervisors would tell the residents what days the recycling is and what phone number to call for pick up or bring it down to are d.p.w. yard to drop it off them selves if they don.t want to wait for there recycling day pick ups. and leave a schedule info on there door or in there mail box and recycling is the strict law. they must follow like all residents and businesses to .
The residents don't do that as much now since the brown carts for trash and yellow tops for cardboard boxes (flattened) discouraged residents from mixing the trash with the cardboard. It's now enforced by the city and can result in a hefty fine.
