I absolutely love motorcycle camping. Much more affordable than hotels/ motels. Peaceful, relaxing and it feels so good to be out in the fresh air.. there's nothing like motorcycle camping.

Touring Midwest I keep my gym membership up so I can get gym showers when I am on the road. Smelling like a Billy Goat is so 1960s.

great video, I have been doing this for years and have found its the best way to enjoy the country and keep expense's down. my daughter and wife always love going with me. And something I have learned as mentioned below, the unexpected. if you are not packed for it go buy what you need on the cheap and either give it to the homeless or mail it home to keep your loads down when finished. I use a 10 dollar tarp when I hit rain and make a lean to. works great.

    To carry duct tape:
    (1) from a plastic milk jug, cut out a piece about 3” wide by 5”-6” long. Wrap tape around it, doubling over
the last 1/8” for easy access. A couple of those, and you can have 30%-40% of a roll. Flexible, stores easy.
    (2) wrap around the bottom end of a disposable lighter. Tear off a narrow strip to use as tinder for starting fine kindling to start larger kindling to start a campfire.

Those long 8‘ x 2‘ pool floaty’s that you can lay on in the pool are usually take that and I put that under my sleeping bag. It makes it for a soft comfortable lay down.

Stop doing research and go camping. At first close to home and you will learn what to pack and what not. Every time is different and every time you learn more. I've been camping since I was little, in my parents backyard, then a bit further and longer. Always being great and after 50 years of camping still loving it, only problem is I don't do it often enough.

Wet Ones in the single packs work better than the toilet paper, and you can use them to clean up more than your backside. You can clean your hands, you can wipe down your body if you are camping someplace without facilities to get rid of body funk. You can even clean your cooking utensils with them.

Excellent job. Only other thing, a good lightweight camp tarp, 10x10 minimum or 12×12 is ideal, IMO. Of course quality rain gear is a given.

    Pick up your trash!
It blows my mind how much garbage I find at both regular and dispersed campgrounds. I try to pack other's garbage out the best I can but it's a bit more difficult with such limited space.

Towels: poor choice is cotton. Better choice: monofilament. Check out Chaptex cloth. Use one for a washcloth, another for a towel. Also, carry baby wipes. For camp use, they can be torn in half. They dry out; carry them in sandwich sized Ziplock bags, moistened with white vinegar. (It kills bacteria.). Very refreshing to wipe off a sweaty face and neck, full “rag bath”, and “down there care”. From the For What It’s Worth Department.

Agree! Camping from the bike is absolutely awesome! Just you, nothing but the absolute essentials, and nature! Gotta be smart, because you can't just toss your $hit in the cage and leave if weather or other stuff goes sideways. Can't wait for my next trip! Only thing I'd add to your list of supplies to make your trip a little better is a backpacker camp chair. There are a few different kinds on Amazon, so I won't plug a specific brand. They're super tiny and convenient. I can't tell you how amazing these are to sit around in by the fire after a long days' ride. Just my two cents, and certainly not dissing anything you're showing here. Great video! Can't wait for the next one!

Great advice about the chair. I have Helinox Chair Zero, but any type of chair like that will make all the difference. Mine fits easily in a backpack.

Before I head out, I spray my gear and clothing with permethrin to repel and kill mosquitoes, ticks, and other bugs. Tops of socks, inside of lower pant legs & shirtsleeves, groin areas of pants and underwear, tent screens and zippers and inside corners and ceiling. Available from Walmart; pump bottles cheaper than aerosol. In camp, tuck pants into socks.

Great vid! Here is a pro tip - down or synthetic quilts take up less space than sleeping bags if ya like hammocks they take up less space and are lighter than tents . down side is finding the right trees to support your body weight.

Even better than using a pencil is to use an old debit card to wrap tape around. It’s the perfect size and you can store more tape in less room.

  • @jackvoss175
    @jackvoss175 2 года назад

For years, I’ve used a 3/4 length air mattress. Unless you’re in below freezing temperatures, there’s no need for a pad below your knees. Use that space and weight allotment for something needed and useful.

A folding pruning saw with an 8”-10” blade is lighter and MUCH safer than a hatchet. You get ten fingers only once in your lifetime. Cut - or simply break- dead wood (NOT wooden fences, picnic tables, or live trees!) into convenient sized pieces.

Leave the gratuitous reving for the city. If your bike won't stay running without reving it constantly, take it to a mechanic.
