Packing for a 2 wheeled adventure can be a bit daunting especially if you are going to be gone for a while. And of course packing can vary quite a bit from bike to bike. But there are some basics that apply to all situations and can make your motorcycle packing easier and your trip more enjoyable.

On my Sportster I put eyelet bolts in the sides of my sissy bar luggage rack to help strap stuff down.
I recommend taking a small pack of baby wipes. As a father of a young child, I find myself using those things more and more for everything. I just used them last night while replacing the air intake filter on my motorcycle. Are they technically as good as using purpose-built solvents, shop towels, nitrile gloves, etc.? Not really. But those kinds of products are generally very space-inefficient, whereas baby wipes come well-compressed in smaller packs from the store for really cheap. It's really hard to beat baby wipes for general cleaning, and if you ever run out, they're available just about everywhere.
My go to are ziplock style bags that you can sit on to get the air out of. It’s amazing the amount of room in saddlebags or sissy bar bags if you can compress them and not waste space from air. And for layers, under armor is a must, especially the cold weather stuff.
Solid Advice. I just got a Route 1 Destination from you guys. The bag rocks ! Riding an indian challenger from Fort Lauderdale to Niagra falls in 2 weeks. (for the hell of it I picked there). It holds all my camera gear and my 3days worth of stuff. See you on the Blue Ridge Parkway !

if you have some spare ammo boxes/cargo boxes laying around, and you don’t got saddle bags. You can DIY some saddle bags out of them
Something I always keep under my seat is an 18L packable travel backpack. Its smaller than a tennis ball when packed.

Save the ratty T-shirts, underwear and socks you'd normally toss in the garbage. Pack those for a long trip and toss 'em as you go. No need to do laundry and your load gets lighter as you go. You can also use them as rags for checking oil and cleaning bugs off the windshield before chucking them.

That's a whole video suffice almost everything, but I have seen a few riders, specially on chopper's or mid cruiser's, they use leather golf bags to deal with all the packing and stack their items in ascending order of their need.. what would be your take on that?

ok any gurus here wanna tell me how they would kit out a smaller kawasaki 500cc vulcan motorcycle for camping travel. i only ride 1-2 hours to do this but i want to secure things properly and am unsure the best way to go about it. i have saddle bags that are small and don't cut it atm, and i have a rack over the rear fender to bungie stuff to. let me know the best gear or way to lash it to the bike if possible. my motorcycle the vulcan 2009 en500 has a sissy bar and passenger seat so if i can use a bag to fill that space and use it as a back rest that be epic. of note tho is i am trying to also carry a hunting rifle and recurve bow for hunting on these trips. these two items are my mainproblem regarding packign them on my bike somewhat clandestinely

You really emphasize using a luggage rack and keeping the bag from touching the fender. Why though? Assuming you don't have any loose straps that can get sucked into the wheels or something, what's the big deal of the bag touching the fender?
The most obvious concern would be cosmetic damage, although I can't imagine most motorcycle tourers would be upset by a few scratches from real-world adventures. The other big thing is to be aware of which parts of the fender are designed to support weight. Many bikes have mounting points near the middle of the rear fender. Those obviously need to be able to support weight there as well as in front of those points because that's where a passenger would be sitting. But behind that, the fender may flex more as the far back is less supported. Also, putting more weight behind the rear axle has generally undesirable effects on handling and traction. So as a rule of them, you kind of want to keep everything in front of the rear mounting points to the extent possible. Not touching the fender is kind of just a proxy for that, although it will of course vary by bike.

Bring cheap vodka and a spray bottle. Spray sweaty or musty clothes with it and let it dry. Seriously, they’ll smell like you haven’t worn them. The vodka kills the bacteria and doesn’t leave an alcohol smell. Try it at home. Also, at the end of the day, it’ll help “disinfect” your stomach.😉
Dry bag = 25 bucks. Same dry bag but for motorcycles = 280 bucks lol. I just can’t bring myself to buy bags made for bikes as cool as they look. It’s just so over priced and I’m not a cheap guy at all.
