These sessions with Hakeem worked for Kobe because he never stopped practicing what he learned. My point is no matter what you learn you still have to continue to work on what you learned in order for it to effectively translate to your game

Gil's point was that Hakeem's lessons only work on players who had foundations with good footwork, kobe's dad play ball and kobe played soccer when he was young, bron played WR in high school and had good control of his feet, people who are just picking it up first time with Hakeem aren't learning because he don't know how to teach at their level. I agree that you need to work on it in your own time but if you're taught wrong how are you going to practice correctly?

Gil has a narrow mindset on this. It’s not about copying verbatim Hakeem’s moves. It’s about taking the lesson and allowing the player to shape the moves to the player. Nobody is expecting Giannis to be “Hakeem-esque” on the blocks and post, but if he can develop more moves that are better than what he has because of the teaching then it worked.

Gilbert I can give you one who trained with Mr. Olajuwon and used the footwork effectively. Dwight Howard. There's a playoff series game against Portland when I believe he scored the first 13 points of the game and every move was Olajuwonesque. Here's the thing about Gilbert, he never had his own identity or creative move when he was playing. Remember he said once that he copied others. Not saying that's a bad thing but we don't remember him for nothing of his own. You got Olajuwon-Dream Shake. Kareem-Skyhook. Dirk-Stepback. Jordan-Fadeaway(and so many others). Tim Hardaway-Crossover. Gervin-Finger Roll. Magic-No Look Pass. Harden-version of Stepback 3. So many other players that may not have their own signature move but their creativity had them separated from the rest. Gilbert has nothing to offer the game because he was easy to replace. He doesn't come up in conversations about great players. Not a Hall of Famer. No Rings. Not really consider a fierce competitor. Tell me this; would a young player today pay 50,000--75,000 or 100,000 to train with Jordan? Would there even be a debate about it?

Gil is 100% correct. You can't do something a week before the season, (less than 10 hours total), on something you are a novice at. And expect it to be worth it. Especially when they aren't correcting your mistakes. This is sometimes the problem with many great players teaching others. They don't know how to teach because they just expect it to be done the way as easy as they do it 90% of the time and don't correct mistakes when they see it.

Basic fundamental moves are never outdated...The Dream took down Shaq, Ewing and Robinson, and it wasn't even close. NO CENTER SINCE I'VE BEEN ALIVE HAS DOMINATED ON BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT LIKE THE DREAM. The Dream was one of a kind...and not only has Shaq confirmed this, but Jordan himself said Dream was the only player he feared...100% facts. THE ONLY THING THAT HAS CHANGED IN MODERN TIMES ARE THE COUNTER MOVES, BUT THE FUNDAMENTALS OF DREAM'S MOVES NEVER CHANGE...STEP-THROUGHS, REVERSE PIVOTS, UP AND UNDERS, JUMP-HOOKS AND BASELINE FADE-AWAY JUMPERS ARE ALL STILL VERY RELEVANT. Stop it Gil, you're wrong...just admit it and move on.

      1. He already said he didn't charge him.
      2. Greats studied and picked up the moves
      3. Does everyone who goes to college learn the same amount?
Does everyone get the same high paying job? LEARNING VARIES DEPENDING ON HOW DEDICATED YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT BASED ON THAT DISCIPLINE.
Gil is 🦝'n here and so are you clowns who buy into his nonsense. Gil was a very specific one dimensional sort of player; the offensive superstar who doesn't care about defense and doesn't care about winning. As long as he has "a bag" and could get to THE BAG, that's all that matters and he shows that daily.
There's nothing wrong with that; that's a success in and of itself. But people like that should never fix their lips to speak on people who wanted more, and gave the game more.
You gil acolytes are everything wrong with hoops, and unless you played in the NBA yourself, you can't tell me nothing about ball, I've done it all.

Definitely worth $50K! McCants is correct. You’re going to travel the 1st day especially if you haven’t done the footwork before.
He may let them get comfortable on the 1st day and then correct them on the 2nd day and throughout the week once he has rapport.

Mccants makes sense for the first time ever. The lil hakeem thing makes perfect sense.
But it’s 50k lol. And Joel has footwork that can’t be taught. It’s simple as that. Giannis can train all he want, but he will never be on embid level
That said, if it came down to ONLY spending 50k for training, he should either
    1) invest in what lebron is doing or
    2) invest in what lebron is doing

Can’t teach nothing in a week 😂. Great moves are taught over months and years. Straight finesse from Keem
Edit: Obviously a lot of debate. I just wanna know how someone with little to no technical skill in a topic is gonna use what he learned from a couple secessions in an nba game. Now if he was expanding on a part of his game that already exists like driving techniques or something, that would be a little more reasonable. Search up that move Giannis did on AD and tell me Keem didn’t rob him 😂

Gil is right those moves wont transfer that fast. The soccer argument killed it. The foundation is everything. Most foundations come with long struggle/Stress almost every day mind and body. Just like how our muscles grow. The mind is very important, but thats why great players can’t coach because they can’t document what they did from 1-100. Coaching is a skill.
