Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for eight years now.
Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!

4:07 that sure is a weird place to have that high up plugs... usually they would be at the foot panels near the floor... only the kitchen would see them up that high on the middle of the wall... lovely house though
Lovely village property to finish to whatever level of finish you choose..would have been nice to see the garage area and what that offers vehicle access size.
Hi! Thank you. There is no garage, it is street parking only :D The whole property was shown on the film.

Oh that must be a mistake as there is no garage :D
I think the reason for that is because there's a garage underneath the outside staircase. That might belong to the neighbour or just be a storage.
@@gus-lopes the listing on the FFF website clearly states “and a Garage”.. hence my question.. but Joseph has now confirmed there is no Garage..even though the website is still showing with garage.

Can you please give me an estimate of the building costs complete with swimming pool. Been interested in moving to Fundao Region for 2 years now and would like to retire in a beautiful area of Portugal.
Joseph.... May I ask what the parking situation might be for situations like this as it appears in the video that parking might be rather limited or in some fashion that is considered the norm for the region though different from what many viewing would think of?
On another subject, though related, I very curious as to what costs would be applicable in terms of planning to finish such a property.... realizing obviously that these costs would vary according to personal choices and style. These insights offer more toward the conversations necessary and potentially drive inspirations and processes to the ideas that you share here.

For the townhouse, or village house, i think for under 10.000 you can do the kitchen plus bathroom. (probably even cheaper if you can do a lot yourself).
The rest of the house, well normal things like paint, curtains, a (wooden) floor, or whatever.

Using my builders a bathroom would be 800 euros for all the furnishings, you can pick the styles you like of course. Kitchen would be from 3,000 up, depending on what you choose. Tiles start at around 10 euros per square metre, but these are basic tiles, more expensive ones are possible, should the buyer wish for them :D

Food forest,, water, views, close to village but privacy, not necessarily a house but building permission, I do have a small budget but am coming to buy...thank you will be in touch again by email soon. Joseph, it would be nice if you could mention how long it takes to the river beaches, each year seems rather hotter than before and knowing you have quick access to a cooling place becomes as relevant as bars where to have a cold drink

Dear Joseph, the building plot, it is indeed a beautiful place. The asking price seems to be hilarious but I guess it is justified by the permission to build, by beeing close to the town but still alone, and by the possibility to use public power supply. I guess it was not easy to get such a license, as it appears there was no previous house there. Would a buyer be stuck with the design shown (methinks it is a bungalow) and/or the size (250sqm)? Would a major change e.g. one wants to build a more traditional looking house with a first floor require re-application? I guess it is important that you stick within the 250sqm, but how flexible are those permissions when it comes to changes of the design? Or does the camera grant a building permit regardless of the design, and just limits the footprint of the house in sqm?
When the permission is given for a one floor house, or bungalow style. Then that is probably for a reason. So for a second floor you will probably need to put in a new request.
Also existing buildings you can not just build them higher, if you would want that, also normally you have to keep the same footprint.
That said. All by all, 250sqm on the ground floor would be quite enough for me. I wouldn't even use it all for living probably. To big for me. Also 8-9 months of the year you can sit outside, and eat outside.
