Thanks for choosing to react to BABYMETAL, they're amazing! As someone who is new to the group, I thought I'd give you and your followers a little background on them. BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol goup Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. Below is a list of some of their best performances that I hope you will consider for future reactions. Should you decide to do more BABYMETAL reactions in the future, you should be aware that RUclips will block almost all videos that incorporate audio. The best way round this is to mute the video and provide a link that we can open in a new window and sync with yours. Just give us a countdown before you start playing it. this is a good beginning video to start with Babymetal. this was in 2015. been a fan since 2013 and love hearing them everyday. they are so talented as a band, every thing about it. and as you might realize Babymetal has great crowd reactions to their shows. this is why they are so much better live. they have won many awards for best live band and many others. yes some thought they were a gimmick at first but they are far from it. and I will warn you. by the third song you will have fallen down the fox hole and there is no turning back. the guitarists, the bassist, the drummer are some of the best you will ever hear. you haven't heard anything yet from them. your journey has just started. Su is one of the best female lead singers to me. she has been performing since she was 7 or 8 years old. this video she was 17 I think. Babymetal has created their own genre of metal. the more you listen to their music you will see they take many styles of metal and make it their own. and each song is so different than any other song they have.
With a gimmick, usually you have a group that can't break through, so they adopt some "gimmick" to help them (like Kiss). BABYMETAL was loving created by a metalhead working in the Jpop business who wanted to bring his beloved metal to new audiences through a new genre he dubbed Kawaii Metal. With this in mind, he found the best composers, instrumentalists, choreographer, and young female talent in Japan and engineered the phenomenon called BABYMETAL. Think of it as highly engineered experimental theater rather than a rock band with a gimmick. More Broadway than garage band..
@Bearded Beast - Yeah, "record label gimmick" is inaccurate. This wasn't some boardroom meeting idea of execs, or shallow cash grab (as that would be seriously stupid in Japan where metal still has a pretty small fandom). It was more of a project of love by producer Key (or Kei) Kobayashi (aka Kobametal), who considered Su's voice too powerful for just plain pop, and wanted to get back to doing something with metal (of which he is a big fan). He was given a practically nothing budget and a flatly sink-or-swim attitude from execs for his little project. More or less, it seems to have only become a thing because they were already putting some funds towards Sakura Gakuin sub-units anyway. Besides that, it's played rather tongue-in-cheek. Kind of like Dethklok, but cute. :D
I heard Gimme Chocolate as my first song and it turned me away, I decided to give them a go again at the start of this year and holy shit, they are my new favorite band.
Nice reaction. Gimme Chocolate is so often the first thing people hear of Babymetal, some love it straight away, unfortunately it can also put a lot of people off completely (especially 'metal heads'), which is a shame. Babymetal songs are all different, some heavier (many different styles of metal too), some with a more pop leaning (and some different genres thrown in for good measure), so some may appeal more than others depending on your preferences - they are all good either way. KillingMachine has already provided some excellent links to a good selection for you.

You should check out Ijime Dame Zettai at Sonisphere 2014, it was the last song of their set , they were the second band to play on opening morning. They estimate there were 50,000 watching them by that song. That was their world coming out party....
Very nice to see the smile after the doubts you mentioned at first. Here's a prediction: By the third song (in case you are going to continue listening to them) you'll be convinced that they are a) not a gimmick (itf that's not clear already) b) uniquely awesome. They certainly take some getting used to, but they have the skills, the energy and the passion to get the point across. And since you seem to be able to appreciate live qualities, I fully expect you to like them, unless the kawaii side totally throws you off. I wouldn't be surprised if you liked Gimme Chocolate as well once you got used to their peculiarity. My suggestion for another reaction would be "Akatsuki": ruclips.net/video/FSB5qR3FK94/видео.html. It's a Su solo (the main singer), while Yui and Moa take a break, and it allows her to show more of her beautiful voice. But I don't Facebook.... This interesting, I'll have to show this to my sister, she is very much into Nipponese culture. It all seems overly cheerful to me, but, if I understand things right, they have 5 different words that the closest English translation would happy or happiness. Might need my sister to verify that. She'll be glad to set me straight.... again.
It's a shame that Gimme Chocolate is the first song most people are exposed to. Not that it's a bad song, but I feel like the weirdness takes away from their prowess as a metal band. As some others have said, it puts a lot of people off. Karate, Rondo of Nightmare (With MoG intro), Road of Resistance, and Megitsune are much better transition songs for a metalhead. Once you get a solid feel for them, the weirder and more expirimental stuff will be a lot more entertaining.
Super sad, I think their lead guitarist died from falling from a tall structure overlooking a scenic viewpoint and one of the singers left the band recently, so this is probably the best babymetal we're ever going to get. Please look at Audrey and Kate, two sisters from Japan and get your socks rocked off!!@!@@
Yes, it was Mikio Fujioka who died from falling injuries. He was one of four guitarists in the Kami Band pantheon, along with Takayoshi Omura (who was also a guitar student of Mikio's), Leda Cygnus and Isao Fujita. It's really tragic. He was only in his mid-thirties, and he had a wife and young children. Very well-loved and missed. Yui Mizuno retired from BabyMetal. There's not really specific details, but it seems to be due to an injury or illness which she hadn't been able to recover from enough to continue to meet the physical demands of performing with them (and they go 110% in their concerts). Some people did lose their damn minds over that. I'll miss her being in BabyMetal, but she still has my support and respect for the decision. I don't like to see things cut short for her like that, but it's her life and health, after all. She practically gave us all of her adolescent years (she and Moa were both 11 when this started in 2010), and people need to appreciate that. On the other hand, the way that Amuse handled it could have been greatly improved, but I don't hold it against them for being respectful of Yui's private life. Agreed! Audrey and Kate are awesome and can be utterly hilarious. :D
The One is a cult.lol Sadly it has dropped in numbers since Yui left but it’s still strong. I’ll suggest Karate from them since that was my introduction.
Well, of course first time you look them you think "this is a gimmick". And maybe, only "maybe" in the beginning they was a "weird experiment" from the productor (a great heavy fan btw) but after 8 years on the stages they learn "what is metal". Of course when they start they don´t know a lot about metal, not a lot of 10/11 years kid knows anything about metal and even less if they are studying and also working in an idol company, but experience comes with age and they now are a real metalheads And you know?, if they are "enough metal" for Rob Halford, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Metalica and a lot more of groups and people who like them, there are enough for me The musics are real professionals, a very talented ones. One of them, sadly deceased no much time ago was even a guitar teacher "for professionals" (Mikio Fujioka, a real master). The main singer even sing with Rob Halford and do it very well (and Halford despite his age have a very powerful voice). As an consideration, maybe you wanna hear the inspiration behind Babymetal and also behind a lot of modern metal groups in Japan: X-Japan This band is a legend in Japan (also in the rest of the world) Also maybe you like to hear something from one of the best hard-rock bands from Japan: Band Maid
What is the difference between image and gimmick? Kiss, Slipknot, things like nu metal mixing rap and metal, Ghost? What's wrong with doing what you want? Is it the commercialization? Where is the line between, "let's be different, let's sell out" ie Before you are famous and after....
Don't bother with these questions ahah, those are absolutely not valid arguments to discredit Babymetal, they are no different than Kiss, Slipknot or even Rammstein in term of gimmick and big cash machine
I should mention to be careful with the Japanese bands. I've seen other channels get copy right strikes for doing them. Maximum the Hormone is one of them.
The One is the name Babymetal gave to their fans because it’s their stated belief that their music Transcends Race, gender, age, nationality, as well as genre and brings us all together as One therefore we are all “The One”

Gimmicky? Nope, not at all.. Genius and created a new genre that is epic in many different ways..
that song is good it sound like an anime theme song
It is grind thrash metal with pop vocals - kuimetal.
Crazy how much you two look alike!
They are amazing live, you should check Line. By the way what a lovely princess next to you.......
do you mean _iine_ ?
But I don't Facebook....
This interesting, I'll have to show this to my sister, she is very much into Nipponese culture. It all seems overly cheerful to me, but, if I understand things right, they have 5 different words that the closest English translation would happy or happiness. Might need my sister to verify that. She'll be glad to set me straight.... again.
aww she bullies you? if so say ijime dame zettai (no more bullying or no to bullying)
Try "Karate"
It's a shame that Gimme Chocolate is the first song most people are exposed to. Not that it's a bad song, but I feel like the weirdness takes away from their prowess as a metal band. As some others have said, it puts a lot of people off. Karate, Rondo of Nightmare (With MoG intro), Road of Resistance, and Megitsune are much better transition songs for a metalhead. Once you get a solid feel for them, the weirder and more expirimental stuff will be a lot more entertaining.
Try Band Maid. They are an all girl hard rock band from Japan. Amazing musicians!
Pls react to The Gazette - Deux live
Another Japanese band, you will be amazed how great this guys are live
Subscribed, guys, I just subscribed....I love you guys....and dude, you need to tell me how to grow a beard that tidy!
покажи дочери кино ссср...неуловимые мстители..она себя узнает
They sound like Alvin and The Chipmunks doing speed metal.
Ragnar Lodbrok is that you?!!! xD
Of course when they start they don´t know a lot about metal, not a lot of 10/11 years kid knows anything about metal and even less if they are studying and also working in an idol company, but experience comes with age and they now are a real metalheads
And you know?, if they are "enough metal" for Rob Halford, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Metalica and a lot more of groups and people who like them, there are enough for me
The musics are real professionals, a very talented ones. One of them, sadly deceased no much time ago was even a guitar teacher "for professionals" (Mikio Fujioka, a real master). The main singer even sing with Rob Halford and do it very well (and Halford despite his age have a very powerful voice).
As an consideration, maybe you wanna hear the inspiration behind Babymetal and also behind a lot of modern metal groups in Japan: X-Japan
This band is a legend in Japan (also in the rest of the world)
Also maybe you like to hear something from one of the best hard-rock bands from Japan: Band Maid
React to MAXIMUM THE HORMONE!!!
Dragon Force does help write stuff for them
That only one song though
2020 baby metal live in indonesia
娘さん、メタルに興味持ってもくれると良いですね。

Maybe you can check Syu feat fuki reason song or unlucky morpheus knight of sword.
And also plz lovebites shadowmaker
She didn't like it guys on to the next Babymetal reaction channel!
It sounded like a DragonForce song
Good catch, Dragonforce guitarists recorded the guitar parts for their album
I should mention to be careful with the Japanese bands. I've seen other channels get copy right strikes for doing them. Maximum the Hormone is one of them.
Holy crap, that's mean. she doesn't have a beard. :P
