  • In this tutorial I'll give you my 4 tips for generating ideas in Motion Design, using a collage style animation I created as a case study. This is process based, as in a practical methods to generate ideas while you're working, not creativity in a general, holistic sense (maybe one for a future tutorial).
    Oh, and just in case you haven't seen the film, *Spoilers for the film Psycho (1960)*.
    This isn't a step by step tutorial, but you can view the whole workflow for the animation, which includes trial and error and things I abandoned, in two parts on my sister channel The Video Shop Long Play:
    Part 1: • Psycho Collage Style A...
    Part 2: • Psycho Collage Style A...

    One of the only problems with your channel is that you didn't start it sooner, so there isn't a massive playlist yet of awesome content for me to binge while I procrastinate on the projects I'm supposed to be working on.
    Interesting, informative, and engaging.
    Great work man.

    thanks for the good tips. i always find myself lost whenever im about to start a new project and i totally get it that you need to let the idea brew rather than trying to force it, its like trying to bake a cake but in 5 minutes instead of 30, the math might work but in reality you will burn the cake. a problem that happens to alot of designers such as myself who work for small studios whom give out lots of project but not the time to think about em.

    • @TheVideoShopLondon
      @TheVideoShopLondon  Год назад

      I've been in that situation. It's akin to working in a factory, churning out mograph product. The work can be serviceable but it's hard to dig into briefs on a conceptual level

    @EdwardSedgwick83 Год назад +1

    Good stuff. It is always tempting to start throwing keyframes in there before the idea is fully developed.

    Enjoyed this one! Really liked the slice/dice stairway to the house animation: creative, simple, powerful, ominous. Also liked how your eye is drawn to and recognizes overarching shapes (lines, circles). The face transplant animation was a good idea, too: snappy and it directed the eye well. Finally, regarding Brew: totally agree. I try to have at least three projects overlapping. Work on A, let it brew while I work on B. It develops individual style (you’re thinking about the prev project a little, while working on the current, giving them some cohesion); and you increase the likelihood of happy accidents. Cheers!

    hi i was wondering if like for a month or two i could pay you to show me how to master this type of style, like i've tried on my own to figure it out but im never happy with the outcome. i look at some pinterest pins for inspiration and try to animate it in ae but i get frustrated because it never looks good. i feel like with the help of a pro like you it would be much easier
