Very nice to hear two different styles side by side. Too bad we weren't able to hear the rest of Peter Bernstein's solo. His Harmonic thing his incredible. His Monk Cd truly shows the master he is of the guitar. Jesse Van Ruller is a great guitarist too. A friend from Holland just turned me onto him this morning by this video. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
@teddypantelas yes they are both great players!, actually Peter and Jesse and two of my favorite jazz guitarrists nowadays!, I have heard Peter is also a great influence on Jesse, so I imagine It must have been a great honor for him to play on that gig. Holland is an incredible place for jazz, I worked there for about 1 year (Rotterdam) and my whole perception on jazz changed. I bought in a local record shop a souvenir to bring back to my country and I was exposed to a CD of Jesse Van Ruller!
Then I do recommend Eef Albers to you that was also a Great influence to Jesse van Ruler, and My (not only my) opinion is that Eef Albers is even further evolved, although Jesse is an increddible bebop player. The reason for this is 1you have to check out Eef Albers 2 He studied more because he is 20 years older 3 He is also more influenced by Fusion and a more modern player then Jesse, although Jesse is in his unique way of course also steps ahead and pure forward motion
