Looks great J.C. …..same exact way I do one of my customers truck frames…other than I use satin black most times . He does tree service and off road a lot…the satin is more forgiving with appearance
Thanks for the tip, that'll work better than a spray can for my daily tractor. Paint's starting to peel and show some rust. Not a show truck, it runs daily and this should work great to keep it looking nice. I'm a stickler on maintenance but have struggled keeping frame looking nice around drive axles and fifth wheel
For whatever it's worth, Valspar makes a product called Anti Rust Armor that is oil based like Rustoleum, designed for metal like Rustoleum, but the Valspar can be tinted any color you want and last I looked the Rustoleum cannot. They make a dozen or so pre-mixed colors, and that's it. I used the Valspar to paint a metal utility trailer that I wanted to match to my truck. I took the gas filler door off, took it to Lowe's, they put it in their scanner and it spit out a code for a paint match. I sprayed it pretty much the same as in this video, and I was very happy with the result. Lowe's no longer sells this product, but any Valspar dealer should carry it.
Nice job on the paint! I didn't see you hanging any "curtains." I got bit by the Rustolium paint thing. We have a double farm sink on the steel cabinet. When I renovated the kitchen I restored the sink. Sanded down to bare metal I primed and painted it. A couple of days went by and I put on a second coat. MISTAKE! The whole thing was wrinkled up when I checked on it later. Including the primer! That hurt, boy I was hot! That set the renovation back a few days. Cheers Terry
Best quotes ever from the professor … I’m not a welder and I’m not a painter…. Funny seems like you do fantastic work and pretty good at both … I’m not a painter or welder either though
Nice work sir I noticed you holding a light they make a light that clips on your gun and shines right where you point the gun so you don't have to hold anything in your other hand
Were you able to complete the total paint job using both cans or less? Thanks, Bill We are getting ready to do 18 ft complete with the cross members and this video is very helpful.
it took 1 gallon of primer, i gallon of paint, i gallon of acetone, 1 pint of hardener to get to this point. i got all that again to start on the axles and suspension.
@@j.c.smithprojects Thanks, luckily there's a Rustoleum supplier right around the corner so should be able to get it all rounded up while it is still starting to warm up. Your frame looks super shiny and smooth. Those new rails looked like they got banged around a lot before the got to you, right. Thanks again.
Dear Mr. Smith. At 0.18 min and at 2.11 min you say: "I'm not a painter." Does that mean, that a new merchandise series is coming (just like the "I'm not a welder" one)? 😁 ;-) Best regards, luck and health in particular.
That frame look.good
When I do truck frames I always use rustoleum paints. I da sand the frames and shoot them. They look as good or better than factory.
Looks really nice 👍🏻 JC.
Looking good.
Great video Mr & Mrs J.C.Smith always enjoy your painting video's and it looks good. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Mr & Mrs J.C.Smith.
Time well spent - as always.
I’m not a painter, seems like you use to say I’m not a welder also….. your doing better than most out there that claim to be real painters
I may have missed this but I hope Mrs. Smith is wearing a respirator too! Looks amazing!
Looks good! Well worth the time invested.

Looks good. The question I have is why one frame rail has an angle cut and the other side is a straight cut. Have a great evening, JC and Mrs Smith

I think it’s looks good. Too many people try to get show quality everything instead of doing the best job for the intended purpose
2 coats of primer 2 coats of paint …. Still waiting for that t shirt to come out
