I've never really cared much for this song, but as I'm 66 now I have been singing this song over and over. I believe this song is needed more than ever.
Song started out being written in 1962, and finally finished and released by Jackie DeShannon in 65’. Bacharach had the music worked out already and Hal David finally put the words to it two years later.
Jackie is a very under rated singer songwriter she was born in 1941 and was part of the Beatles first US tour in 1964 as an opening act. Jackie also wrote Betty Davis eyes for Kim Carnes.
She was born just for this song...her voice fits this song better then any one else ...!!!
