  • When I first approached our visit to Santa Isabel I read that the town’s economy depended mostly on farming. And, as it turned out, it did. Only not the kind of farming that I would've imagined.
My wife and I visited Santa Isabel on the morning of February 3rd, 2025 and spent most of the day exploring the small town and its “barrios”.
Santa Isabel was severely affected by hurricane María in 2017. And, like most of the Island, they’re still shell-shocked and economically reiling. All you have to do is look around you and you’ll see electricity poles leaning at sharp angles and buildings destroyed beyond repair.
However, the “santaisabelinos” are happy and welcoming people, that speak about their town with pride, and are happy to show visitors around. We had a great time at Santa Isabel, albeit most of the attractions are more directed towards local explorers than towards travelers from abroad.
Stay tuned to the end to learn about the latest “cash crop” that has put Santa Isabel at the center of the Caribbean map.
And of course, as in all our videos, every attraction includes the GPS coordinates for your convenience.
