    This was ridiculously helpful. I followed your steps, and I was able to take off the tires VERY quickly. And thank you for mentioning the key at the end. I am not very mechanically inclined. I didn't know that was in there, and I KNOW I would have lost one or both of them.

      Happy to help. I have seen people forget to put that key back in and wonder why the axle is turning but the wheel isn't! Thanks for watching.

    Thanks heaps for the video, I had all the tools ready to go so I didn't need to keep getting up and kneeling down when I discovered what I needed next. You just saved an old Melbourne guy a LOT of back pain, cut down on the swearing too, very much appreciated.

    Thanks for the video! I already had taken off the wheel and put it back on (with an inner tube)...but the mower only drove for a little while and then wouldn't go forward or reverse. I didn't know about that key! Apparently I lost it along the way. So, after watching the video, I jammed an allen wrench in the slot and it works fine now. (I WILL get the proper key though.)

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  6 лет назад

      Just had a guy call me about that. "When I put the tire back on, it won't move!" I told him about the key and sure enough, he found it on the ground under the tire. Thanks for watching.

    • @itomas
      @itomas 6 лет назад

      Well, before I resorted to using the 3/32" allen wrench for a key (and after your video), I picked through every blade of grass in the lawn and every stone on the gravel driveway...couldn't find the key. It was odd that the mower was able to cut the entire 1/4 acre before it wouldn't drive anymore. Right after I had originally put the wheel back on, it wouldn't go...but then it lurched forward and was fine for a while. Twice more, while I was mowing, it wouldn't drive and then finally lurched forward each time...until the final time when it wouldn't go at all. That's when I watched your video and voila!...allen wrench!

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  6 лет назад

      I am not sure if that allen wrench can cause damage to the shaft but you might consider changing it out with a square key. The local hardware store usually sells "square stock". If you buy the correct size, you can cut it to length and make your own key. Thanks again for watching.

    When you remove the retaining clip … I can’t see what you’re doing! Which not are you using the flat head screwdriver etc on?

    • @JulianHamlin
      @JulianHamlin Год назад

      Which bit

    • @GeneralChangFromDanang
      @GeneralChangFromDanang Год назад

      There should be a slot in the retaining clip that you can stick a flat head screwdriver in. Then kinda twist the screwdriver back and forth and leverage the retaining clip off of the axle.

    man I've been stuck tryng to hey my back wheel off this Husqvarna for days. mine moved freely for about an inch when pulled then stops like there's some kind of lock preventing it from coming off. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  8 лет назад +1

      In case there is a burr or large build up of rust on the end of the shaft, you may have to break out some sand paper or file. Sand or file around the end of the axle. You may also have to use a product like "PB Blaster" to break up some rust. Hope you get it worked out soon - try not to shoot the D&$%^#N thing!

      They are called Woodruff keys.You will find them on many mechanical applications including holding the timing belt pulley to the crank on an Opel Vectra where they usually break and wreck your engine.

      The clip fits into a groove. I slide it into place with a pliers. I will make a better video.
