Great video! Best Buy had the eero pro 6e on sale for 349.99 plus an additional 15% off with router trade in. I had an old linksys laying around and got an additional 15% off which brought grand total to 297.40. I had a 250 gift card from trading in my 4the gen iPad a fees back. So I paid 67.02 out of pocket. It gets better no traded my 2018 eero pro second gen to Amazon for 80 gift card. Best deal ever.
A 3 pack of the Pro 6 is currently on sale in the UK for £239.99 and the Pro 6e is £384.99. I’ll go for the Pro 6 as the better deal. Thanks for helping me decide!
Price difference right now is only $50 if you buy the 2 package option. Totally worth to get the 6E since you don't have to worry about updating your wifi system in the future (maybe for the next 3 years).
Eero seems to have really dropped the ball on the pro 6e release. Would have expected both ports to support 2 gigabits at the minimal. Doesn't help that the cheaper model ended up beating it in some tests. Most likely buggy drivers? Was looking at an upgrade but will pass this year.
I got the eero 6+ and all I hear from Comcast is I have a sloppy network, and I have trouble sometimes accessing my cameras to the garage in the summer time when I have the fans on, but with the fans off, then I am usually ok, what's it going to take to get some penetration and distance, not sure what to get
Thanks for the doing the work for us folks that realistically cannot go to a store and buy the two to compare - well put. Hadn't revamped my home network in over 6 years and I was looking on the Eeros coupled with pfSense, but deciding on the Pro or Pro 6E, given that it's new technology and I yet to have a single 6E device at home it seems the Pro is the way to go. Very informative and professionally done. Great job!
thanks for the comparison. I found the graphs helpful for the overview, but I think if you have two graphs side-by-side, it'd be easier to compare if the scales were identical.
@@landpet What app on the phone do you use to measure speed in conjunction with the local server setup you describe at 5:08? Or are all the measurements done by your computer/server? Have you also considered measuring signal strength (dbuV or similar)?
Thank you. So basically no hurry to upgrade. I was hoping the 6E would use the 6GHz radio for wireless backhaul as it's less congested but seems like it provides no significant improvements.
It got some updates a while later and it was better after I tested it a while later. I think it was in this comparison video that I retested it: ruclips.net/video/hN-Pl-9EKA8/видео.html But again the Pro 6 is pretty good as it is. If you want something better, check out the ASUS XT9 or especially the Deco BE63, those will have improvements over the Pro 6 and Pro 6E.
@@landpet I'm just comparing the wireless backhaul configuration because that's the most relevant use-case for me. I assume 'Wireless Backhaul' meant you conducted the speed test near the 2nd eero node that's wirelessly connected to the gateway? How far do you place the eeros apart? In this video, the Pro 6E achieved 497down 475up and in the more recent video, it achieved 846down 918up. That's quite an improvement, is that an accurate depiction of everyday usage though? I know my Pro 6 system fluctuate quite a lot.
Great informative video, thanks! My provider sent me a new pro 6E to replace my current pro 6 router which has been very stable for the last 3 years. I have four wireless pro 6 nodes throughout my house. I’m afraid to upgrade to the pro 6E since it might create problems that I currently don’t have. I’m leaning towards just sending the pro 6E router replacement back and telling them “no thanks” since I’m currently getting 940 Mbps up/down. What do you think? Thanks again!
So I just tried both. My iSP is 250 down & 15 up. While sitting next to router, w Pro 6 5G i get between 225-250 mbps & 14 mbps. With 6E i get 268 & 16. This is tested with both a Pixel 7 pro for 6e as well as an older AX killer card for pc that only supports 5ghz. For some reason the 6E is giving faster speed on 5g than the pro 6. Also I noticed that i had 10 db better signal in the basement 1 floor below the router w the 6E vs the pro 6. Yet technically on paper the Pro 6 is better specs wise. 🤔
They updated the Pro 6E a while after this video and did make it better. In theory, it’s supposed to be better because it’s supposed to replace the Pro 6. It also supports the 6GHz band. Either way, if it works better for you, then that’s the way to go.
I have 3 Eero Pro and 50 devices connected to them. Sometimes the eero cannot cover it and starts to connect and disconnect. Do you think if I replace just one Eero pro-6E Ax5400 with the Main and keep the others Eero pro, my problem will be solved?
Very good video, Love the detail and all the things you tested. Thank you. So the big question TP-Link 6E or Eero 6E? I need a new wifi network and looking to pick between these two.
Can a single Eero 6 Pro (K010001) be used or do you need to have more than 1? Is it possible to reset it, and/or purchase used? I'm interested to see if it works in a 1500 sq.ft area!
My ISP called me and asked if I wanted to get updated from my wifi 5 router only, non mesh, to the new mesh pro 6e at no charge. So I set it up and it was a heck of an upgrade. Interestingly my ISP must unlock the full service because mine has full access to the parental controls, which was also a good bonus. I can't believe I didn't know what a mesh network even was a week ago lol
Some reviews have said the 6E is less stable. What have you found regarding that? Also, the distances between repeaters needs to be shorter? Or is that just for devices that actually use 6E?
Thanks for your reviews man! They have been incredibly helpful. I bought the 6e based off of this review. I learned afterwards that the 6pro has a 1.6ghz quad core processor and the 6e has a 1ghz dual core processor. I am curious with your knowledge of you think that will make a difference in day to day life for me. My speeds will be a 400/20 package from Spectrum.
You're welcome! You should be ok with either one for those speeds (I would opt for the pro 6E now cause it's on a super sale for something that recently came out). That used to be my speeds with Spectrum as well. I don't concentrate too much on processors since the technology is slightly different on each one. I concentrate on results, like range and speed tests.
Im debating between these two. Most of my devices I believe can only utilize 5Ghz. So with that in mind, With the 6e, does it mean that most of my devices can are only utilize just the 2.4Ghz and the 5GHz (essentially wasting the 6GHz band)?
Follow the instructions on the eero app, it will tell you how to connect it. I did a video on how to connect the eero Pro 6: ruclips.net/video/n_T0LAb0Slg/видео.html if you watch it, it's basically the same thing for the Pro 6E or 6+.
A bit of a technical question, if you absolutely need your 5 GHz band to use lower channels like channel 36, would you go for the Pro 6 over the Pro 6e since the Pro 6 has two 5 Ghz bands with one broadcasting at the lower channels?
Excellent. Thanks for all the effort to do those test and give the results. Really helpful. I’m getting fibre to my house in 2 weeks and will be going from 20Mb to 1Gb so need to upgrade my mesh. This review is really helpful! One question. What Ethernet cable is needed to use the 2.5Gb backhaul connection on the Eero? Cat5e or Cat6. ??
So my thing is my internet provider provides 1300 mbps upload when I connect to my 6+ it says max 955 for Ethernet speed for my iPhone 14 pro max one connected away from router speed is about 300. If I get the 6e pro and connect the 2.5 gb cord to my router will it show the wired connection faster than 955 mbps?
So this still doesn’t help with Virgin Hub 5 in modem mode and getting the 1.1gbps wired speed separate to all other devices as the Eero would have to be linked to the Hub 5 on the 2.5gbps port. I recently got the Hub 5 and disconnected my Eero Pro 6 and switch setup to just try the Hub 5, seem to have further reach and finally the full 1.1gbps speed using the 2.5gb port up to my pc upstairs but Wi-Fi speeds everywhere else have roughly dropped by around 100mbps. Best wired speed I had before was about 940mbps as we know the Hub 4 is limited to. So it’s pros and cons. What I don’t understand is as others have said why there’s not 2x 2.5gb ports? I guess it’s just too expensive at the moment.
Can the USB-C cable be replaced for a longer one? I can't tell if the adapter end is built-in or the kind that can be it be disconnected? I want to mount my router in a high place and it won't work if I can't swap out the USB-C cable.
It's built in. I imagine you can use a different power adapter USB C that provides the 27W of power but if things start going wrong, that may be the issue.
Great comparison. The 6E is on sale here in the U.K. currently, wondering if it’s worth me upgrading my Pro 6 setup, I use wireless backhaul, though and don’t have any 6E devices, only WiFi 6. Does the 6E use the 6ghz channel for its backhaul?
In another review I read, I believe it was CNET, it can and often does use the 6ghz for wireless backhaul. That said, they mentioned their 6E wifi devices seldom connected to the 6ghz band. There apparently isn't a way to force a connection to 6E. I currently have the Pro 6 and have gigabit fibre (my ISP, Frontier, provided the Pro 6 2 pack for free as part of a promotion here in the Tampa, FL area). I'm quite happy with it but am debating going to a 6E system.
@@AddiandCassieshorrorchannel Thanks, I’ll have to check out their review, just curious what speeds it gets with a 6E wireless backhaul. Otherwise it may just be easier to keep the Pro 6 and connect the nodes by Ethernet.
For anybody out there like myself who doesn’t have either 1, The Eero Pro 6e is on sale right now for $299 for Prime members (early prime day sale). That’s $200 off the regular price. But it maybe even cheaper during prime day.
@@isoplayers The 2 pk Eero Pro 6e is on sale right now for $299 for Prime members. Although my ISP just gave me the 6 pro for my router and the second one for $5 a month, I'm getting my own so I won't have to pay them small $5. I Know $5 is not much
My eero pro 6 get 960mbps download 950mbps upload that’s the speeds on my speed test on my iPhone 12. I have two eero pro in my house everything is lighting fast that I use in my house. I do have fiber internet so that proably helps as well. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading till it’s more significant upgrade.
Great review!! I have 1.2Gbps service from Xfinity and just ordered a 3 pack of the 6E. Whats the maximum range I can put between two routers that will maintain the optimal backhaul speed on the 6GHz short range?
Thanks! Depends how many walls are in between. The app should tell you as well but a general rule of thumb is 30 to 50 ft away again depending on the number of walls
i don’t know if you can help me but I can’t get a good upload speed from my 2 eero pro 6e. I have a 750/750 internet. Both eero are hardwire. If I connect my iPhone 15 pro max with an Ethernet dongle directly on the second port of the second eero , I get a speed test result of 730/655. It’s really good. But when I make a Speedtest on the wifi , I only get 180 mb/s for upload . Download speed is 725 mb/s. I have done test on all my devices ( mostly apple product) and it’s all the same .
The uploads on WiFi are not great with any device with any router. If you watch my older videos when I had the about gigabit speeds, the uploads on WiFi would be around the 300 to 400 Mbps range. Even though it should’ve been capable of much faster. The local speed tests would be better though
You are correct, by itself you can’t do much. Some people though run wireless backhaul and connect most stuff with wifi, again I like to recommend something like the asus et12 pro with 2 fast ports for something like that.
If you're referring to the old eero Pro wifi 5, then it probably is worth the upgrade but it all depends on your use case. If your current system provides speeds and range you're happy with, then it's pointless to upgrade.
I have 3 Eero pro 6 units but was thinking of getting a 6E unit to replace the unit connected to my modem…..will this work even though they are different standards?
Can I MANUALLY choose to put a device on 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ? Or does the connection happens automatically based on what that specific device can connect to?
Hello. Have you noticed a speed test difference between devices connect to the Eero gateways (fast) and the Eero extender (slow)? I am getting 50% or less of the speed when connected to an Eero extender/satellite.
Thanks for the review! In Australia we finally just get Pro 6 E and Max 7 which cost (AU$449 and AU$1099 for single pack!) and right now we have End of Financial Year Sale for Pro 6 for $244. I ordered Pro 6E then I decided to check on the speed different, you help me save money as I cancelled the Pro 6E and ordered Pro 6 instead. I do have 1 Gb internet but I don't use LAN at all, so Pro 6 is enough for me! Thank you for your help!
No HomeKit functionality is a no go for me with the 6E. Sticking with the pro 6 and won’t be upgrading ever unless eero goes back to supporting HomeKit.
Is it worth upgrading to the Pro 6E if I currently have the eero 6 dual-band? My internet speed is close to 900 with an upload of 200. Thanks for the help.
I don't, for the most part the default settings are optimized and should be good for most people. You can customize a few things like DHCP but the eero is really designed for simplicity
Thread/matter on eero sucks so hard i cant even connect More than a device a day , i have to spend days AND days to get them on their app later on Alexa AND one stoped their funcionalities so i had to delete AND in the process of indexing It again.
I have a hundred yr old house with brick walls. Not a single layer facade but something like 8 inches thick. I also have a lot of ring cameras. Those cameras obviously are outside. On the other side of those walls. When I first got eero pros I was loving the Wi-Fi. Then I installed the cameras and half of them barely worked. So I ended up with an obscene amount of eero routers lol oh and I just got ring alarm pro so there’s another one. But otherwise they were all the original eeros. I just got the 6e because the prime deal wasn’t that much more than the 6 so why not.
Both are on sale today. 30 dollar difference. I don’t own a Eero, Which do you recommend? A lot of people are saying good things about the 6 pro and I keep reading negative things about the 6e
Just remember, when the 6 Pro first came out, people kept saying negative things about it too. Unless there's a hardware issue with the 6E (which I don't believe anyone has found), or I expect it to get better as time goes on and the firmware gets updated.
@@beni654 I haven't used it even as someone pretty deep into the Apple ecosystem, but if that's a dealbreaker for you then this is a no-go. They have no plans to get certified for the 6E (likely because of Matter support in the future).
eero Pro 6 is a solid system as I've had it for a while but between the two, I would get the newer Pro 6E and hopefully firmware updates make it even better especially for the wireless backhaul speeds which was underwhelming.
My pro 6 pucks are slimmer that yours and the power plug is in a different spot... Yikes i was going to trade in my pro 6 for 6e and it seems like this 6e is poo poo. Going to send it back when it arrives. 😖
Sounds like the Pro 6 is overall the better option. My internet is 500/500 though I may upgrade it to 1000/1000. I currently just use one Apple Airport Extreme router.
Question, I have Ethernet ports in my rooms, can I plug my eero 6e pro into those and be a hardwired back haul? The main eero would be plugged into my router/modem.
I go over all the ways to connect it in this video: eero Pro 6E Setup Guide | FAQ's Answered | All Configs Shown ruclips.net/video/51zbqq8aNuE/видео.html
@@timshephard at that point, this wouldn't be the best choice for any backhaul nodes. You need something with at least 2 2.5Gbps ports like you mentioned but those typically cost more like the ASUS ET12 Pro, granted you're also getting better performance out of them
I don’t have the 6 anymore but I can say that the 6+ is definitely better from my testing, I don’t remember the 6 exceeding my expectations where the 6+ did
This is a router, you still need a modem with internet access something you get through an ISP (Internet Service Provider). Amazon doesn't provide internet access as far as I'm aware.
Go to Walmart and get a cheap tp link wifi 6/ax router and compare. The cheap tp link will blow the doors off this eero 6e. It's sad but true. Fyi I am not a tplink fanboy and don't even own one, I'm just stating facts.

That's an excellent price. Eero Pro 6E for sure then
@@landpet yeah I ordered mine as soon as I saw the price. It’ll be here today. Can’t wait to put it to work.
That's for 2 pack? Wondering if I should wait for Black Friday. It's now $179 for 1 and $499 for 2.
Out of curiosity, are you running the test in the eero app or on your iPhone 12 on the speedtest app.
Is it better to run the test with the eero app? If not what app do you use to test speeds?
What can you do with a single 2.5 gb port? Wouldnt you need at least 2 of them to create a 2.5 gb network?
You are correct, by itself you can’t do much. Some people though run wireless backhaul and connect most stuff with wifi, again I like to recommend something like the asus et12 pro with 2 fast ports for something like that.
I’ve eero pro, would you suggest to the eero 6e pro?
If you're referring to the old eero Pro wifi 5, then it probably is worth the upgrade but it all depends on your use case. If your current system provides speeds and range you're happy with, then it's pointless to upgrade.
I have 3 Eero pro 6 units but was thinking of getting a 6E unit to replace the unit connected to my modem…..will this work even though they are different standards?
Yes it will work, I don't know how optimal it will be but it will work
Can I MANUALLY choose to put a device on 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ? Or does the connection happens automatically based on what that specific device can connect to?
No you can’t select manually. It’s all automatic
Thanks! Great vid.
Glad you liked it!
Hello. Have you noticed a speed test difference between devices connect to the Eero gateways (fast) and the Eero extender (slow)? I am getting 50% or less of the speed when connected to an Eero extender/satellite.
Yup, that’s covered in my wireless backhaul testing
@@landpet is there anyway to fix it?
@@ashumCR
Buy an Eero router instead of a beacon and use that as a beacon.
Does the system let you set dhcp reservations for clients you want to always get the same IP?
Yes, it supports DHCP.
Great information! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
No HomeKit functionality is a no go for me with the 6E. Sticking with the pro 6 and won’t be upgrading ever unless eero goes back to supporting HomeKit.
Makes perfect sense, I honestly don't think it's a huge upgrade between the two anyways even without HomeKit.
Which 1 is the best option to use for a PS5? and how many eeros would i have to need? (Im in a small room )
Either one is fine, pro 6e is a bit better than pro 6
@@landpet what about a modem? Can any modem work with these
Hello, is it possible to have two Eeros connected to my modem and have them act as gateways?
Generally speaking, no. There is a possibility but it gets a bit complicated and it will result in two separate networks being created.
Does the new Eero 6e support HomeKit? I’ve heard the new ones don’t
support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039098652-HomeKit-FAQ-s
looks like it won't be available
Is it worth upgrading to the Pro 6E if I currently have the eero 6 dual-band? My internet speed is close to 900 with an upload of 200. Thanks for the help.
Yes it is in your case
Do you have video for best settings for the eero?
I don't, for the most part the default settings are optimized and should be good for most people. You can customize a few things like DHCP but the eero is really designed for simplicity
Is Eero 6e better than Netgear Orbi AX4200 mesh?
Orbi has better performance
Thread/matter on eero sucks so hard i cant even connect More than a device a day , i have to spend days AND days to get them on their app later on Alexa AND one stoped their funcionalities so i had to delete AND in the process of indexing It again.
great review. thank you
no problem! thanks for watching!
I just got the 6e because the prime deal wasn’t that much more than the 6 so why not.
yeah probably going to need a few eero's for that.
Both are on sale today. 30 dollar difference. I don’t own a Eero, Which do you recommend? A lot of people are saying good things about the 6 pro and I keep reading negative things about the 6e
The Pro 6e is $200 off if you have a prime membership. It’s an early prime day sale.
Just remember, when the 6 Pro first came out, people kept saying negative things about it too. Unless there's a hardware issue with the 6E (which I don't believe anyone has found), or I expect it to get better as time goes on and the firmware gets updated.
@@davec8153 good point Dave.
My next concern is the HomeKit on the proE
@@beni654 I haven't used it even as someone pretty deep into the Apple ecosystem, but if that's a dealbreaker for you then this is a no-go. They have no plans to get certified for the 6E (likely because of Matter support in the future).
eero Pro 6 is a solid system as I've had it for a while but between the two, I would get the newer Pro 6E and hopefully firmware updates make it even better especially for the wireless backhaul speeds which was underwhelming.
Can you used both one to the modem and another as mesh
Yes, you can use both of these together.
But i would stick with the same pro 6 mesh or pro 6e.
For the price, Pro 6 is a better deal.
How many devices can each handle? Great video
Thanks! I'm not sure what the exact number is, I typically have 60+ devices and that's fine for either one.
Thank you!
No problem
Question, I have Ethernet ports in my rooms, can I plug my eero 6e pro into those and be a hardwired back haul? The main eero would be plugged into my router/modem.
I go over all the ways to connect it in this video: eero Pro 6E Setup Guide | FAQ's Answered | All Configs Shown
ruclips.net/video/51zbqq8aNuE/видео.html
Seems like a design flaw with only one 2.5 port. How can you connect to multiple Eero's and greater than gig internet? Am I missing something?
If you have more than two, you need a 2.5Gbps switch. So the first one would go to the switch, from the switch you would go to the remaining nodes
@@landpet Thanks. But then how would you connect to a greater than gig modem?
@@timshephard at that point, this wouldn't be the best choice for any backhaul nodes. You need something with at least 2 2.5Gbps ports like you mentioned but those typically cost more like the ASUS ET12 Pro, granted you're also getting better performance out of them
Great review, as usual. Pity they didn't make both ports 2.5 on the 6E.
That one simple port would change the system completely and make it much more enticing compared to others systems.
agreed, it would be way better if they were both 2.5. You need an ASUS ET12 Pro for both 2.5Gbps ports
So weird the iPhone saw such drastic speed test result differences between the two devices.
Set up of the 6E is a nightmare. Everything looks good on the ad, but god it was a pain
Great review. Much better than CNET junk!!!
Thanks! I like presenting my test results, it seems more relevant than more of an advertisement style of showing the product.
Please do a comparison video of 6 vs 6+.
I don’t have the 6 anymore but I can say that the 6+ is definitely better from my testing, I don’t remember the 6 exceeding my expectations where the 6+ did
@@landpet thank you so much for your response. I was deciding between the 6 or the 6+. I’ll go with 6+ plus mesh.
Very helpful video
Glad to hear that
are there any devices that work with 6e (6 Ghz) network?
Some laptops and the phones I mentioned in the video
Is the internet unlimited or do you need to pay Amazon monthly to provide you with WiFi
This is a router, you still need a modem with internet access something you get through an ISP (Internet Service Provider). Amazon doesn't provide internet access as far as I'm aware.
@@landpet so I use spectrum. I would need to tranfer my Internet to the box
So this not the 6+ what’s the difference on that one vs 6
HomeKit! Pro 6 FTW
Yup, something the new ones don't support. I don't use it but I'm sure it's nice to have.
I really wished these Eero Pro routers have 3-4 ethernet ports instead of just 2 ports for hardwiring. 😢
Yup, it's common among mesh systems. You can always get an unmanaged switch
You should banned some words, so many spammer in here
yeah maybe I should, I typically report them as spam but I don't catch everything.

Go to Walmart and get a cheap tp link wifi 6/ax router and compare. The cheap tp link will blow the doors off this eero 6e. It's sad but true. Fyi I am not a tplink fanboy and don't even own one, I'm just stating facts.
TP Link is great, I really like the new Deco XE75. I'm almost done testing the XE5300, hopefully have the video out by next week on that.
why I feel pro 6 is better....
