    Hey fiend, what is your opinion on them not giving Don Ma Glass an opener? As well as them nerfing his dodge right/left recoveries which allowed dodge right/left kicks during enemy heavy recoveries?
    Is everything added worth the trade off?

      in theory it's the feint into os and insta dodge after holding heavy, but i dont think it's enough after getting rid of backdodge light

      Those are both big ticket items that I'm bummed about. The opener issue is real, but he didn't have one before, so I don't consider that a "trade off." Losing the backstep light is going to make dueling some players a real pain, and in high-level duels, HL could be even less viable as a result (maybe?). His chains are insane now, but that doesn't matter if you can't get your first attack off. Time will have to tell
      Like pretty much everyone else, I think the dodge changes are a huuuge bummer, and I would trade a lot to get the old dodging back. It feels like I have lost my legs a bit. I have some testing I want to do because I hope to find a way to get it just a bit faster.
      Overall, I think it was probably worth it for most players, but the jury is out for me until I can do more testing. If we can't find new tech, the dodgelander is mostly dead, but I think that will be okay for most players. The most experienced players might have a really hard time with it, and some may never prefer the new version. I'm not sure myself yet.
      For me, I think everything but the dodge timing is a big improvement, and the inputs will be really satisfying to master. And if I can develop a good dodging technique (pretty iffy), then it might be a straight upgrade in my book.

      @@TheFiendofOndarya the removal of backstep light for Don is definitely a bummer since he has no opener and therefore has to risk trades in order to get into his stance. I still don't understand their reasoning for nerfing his dodge recoveries/removing wavedash. It had a difficult learning curve and rewarded players who got it down. I've played don for years and learned alot from you thanks for the videos🍻

      @@JotakyyI wouldn't count the heavy feint into os as an opener because you still have to kick after canceling the heavy so that's 3 inputs and plenty of time to get lighted our crushing countered out of your stance😆 good ole don. i haven't tried it out yet but it's nice seeing you guys somewhat hopeful here. Pre rework HL was amazing in breach and as long as that's still the case I'll be happy

      @@pyrothelanky7212 i did and I'm saddened to what they did to Highlander, he no longer consumes realistic amounts of stamina and his offensive heavies do less than his DEFENCIVE ones. His kick to grab is USELESS cause the kick if feintable and now you can gb so there goes his one unique move that felt amazing to land. WOW perfect rework just like lawbringer

      ⁠​⁠@@panant7051shut the fuck up about the stamina consumption noone wants to play a character going OOS every 3 seconds, and kick to grab was always useless you could just delay a dodge attack, and wavedash was also terrible since it lost to GB and most chain heavies

    Can only kick right after an offensive light if you keep the same side guard, otherwise it goes into guard break. Took me a while getting used to.

      This is super true... good catch 👍 that messes up a mixup I like a lot, and you could already do a gb with no hard cancel by doing a stam-switch.
      After testing, I see that the same bug occurs when:
      Dodge -> Switch Guard -> Kick (GBs instead)
      Pretty much all the tech/bugs that occur after lights also occur after dodges, so this is not too shocking

      Yea I’ve noticed this too. I hope they eventually can clean this up so the actually input comes out rather than a 2 second stare with a random Gb coming out. It’s not a terrible fix immediately kind of thing but I like like it to be fixed eventually

    You dont even need another highlander for the caber toss gank now. Ive ganked an orochi with medjay 100 to 0. The after i landed my caber toss heavy hit, medjay did his heavy. Then my secobd caber toss was fast rnought to catch him after he got hit by medjaey, then repeat.

    16:28 Not sure if you talked about this, but you don't have to trade with hyper armor in this situation. The dodge cancel back into offensive stance after the new dodge attack is pretty quick and you could probably just dodge attack again almost like an Orochi.

      I think Jorary did briefly mention that you can dodge attack a second time, but It didn't make the vid. That is a very good point tho, and it does probably resolve that scenario in most matchups :D

    @12:50 to do it, start your wave dash with your cursor on top, and move your stick between a side and switch it back to the top when finishing the dash

    Went from wavedash to waveslightlyslower lmao. Thr new dodge attack from OS seem to have a stupid big horizontal hitbox
    Glad the devs did work on this rework,instead of half a.ss it like Conq and LB

    At first, i wasn't happy about the rework. I love playing a high damage character even if it was hard. But after seeing its potential from an expert, I'm excited to try it. Still would have been great if they managed somehow to keep the damage and make it not OP.

      To be fair he still has some of the highest consistent damage in the game. The biggest nerf to his damage isn't even the nerf to his heavies, it's the nerf to his dodge kick. He still has a very similar damage output during his offense, but his offensive stance punishes are worse now.

    Hey Fiend! The winners advantage feat doesn't work in dominion. Currently, it's bugged for Highlander. 26 is the base damage for an OS heavy and still remains 26 in dominion even if the feat is activated. Hope you can verify and forward to ubisoft if it really is bugged.

    idk i dislike the rework but i appreciated HL from the beginning due to his honest and deep offense that required proper conditioning and intelligent matchup knowledge, button mashing or random attack usage yielded no results but his defensive utility in the wave dash- and wave exit cancel to quickly parry out of offensive was a accidental gem for perfect fair, rewarding combat design.
    where mechanical and macro mastery of the character and his relationships was paramount to strong gameplay... he endured in his old state for so long he wound up being the last standing TRULY UNIQUE, and skill expressive character in for honor... that no hero at all can say these days.
    welcome to modern FH, handheld offense linear as a 2 lane road and defensive options and possibilities gutted into simplicity along with it... leaving a button cycle happy, ingrained unreactability where once upon a time not long ago.... a deep, layered mixups with unreactability only through intelligent mechanical useage allowing for deep layered read- based counterplay to the setups, frame traps, at his disposal.
    ill miss you forever my 1 character that actually had a skill floor and skill ceiling that reflected game knowledge and playtime... rather than the modern "if you know 1 character you know em all, press your buttons and use your rehashed mixups on a different character outline" you stood out as a gem for so long and gave me much joy and fun my dear Scotsman
    removing a unique and mechanically deep couple of mechanics in the 2 wave techs.... and adding a feintable kick is legit the most brain numbing retarded shit i ever seen, and im ashamed of this once self-respecting community for taking this insult to our intelligence as a blessing.
    but i get it, content creators in this game rely on it and are in some cases supported by ubisoft so they gotta sing the praises that appease this modern, slowed mentally playerbase. the og's are crying rn

    Rep 68 Highlander here. Been a casual player since late 2017/early 2018. I've been saying Highlander needed a rework since around 2019/2020, and now, here, in 2024, we Highlander mains FINALLY got our FIRST rework

    Not gonna lie i picked up Highlander specifically due to his Damage out put back in the day. It made me feel like for honor had a bit of realism to it. You know, you have a big guy with a big sword he’s gonna do some damage. I love the direction they have taken him, I just hate that his damage continues to get nerfed.

    If they’re not gonna improve his of dodge recovery they need to at least buff his dodge distance. He’s so slow and stuck in place in team fights now

    Tbh bc of the dodge recovery fix he actually feels much worse. The other changes are basically redundant since its still hard to enter and stay in O stance.

      I disagree. It's quite easy to enter, as you can get into it off feint or after basically any attack. It's still relatively difficult to stay in offensive stance, but with the new dodge attack it's easier than before. Previously unless you were wave dashing (which is quite difficult to make use of) you had zero defense. Now he can actually use s in it.

      @@fireflame5296 Sure, but you can still go into it after anything else. Get a parry, get your punish and go into it. Backwards top heavy with some distance and you can go into it. With it's dodge changes you can honestly enter it from neutral pretty safely too as long as you're out of gb range.
      It sucks that back step light is gone, but it was a good change. Shit was busted on every character who had it.

    They really sped up how fast he can dodge when going into offensive stance, it feels almost like he has a slightly more complex dodge recovery cancel. Not sure how good it actually is in the numbers though.

      His zone is instant gb invulnerability (even before the feint) and fairly quick HA. It guarantees that it's still your turn after a finisher heavy if the opponent doesn't parry or empty dodge.
      It's also great for team fights, once you get the first swing out you're basically throwing medjay heavies around.
      I would also say he's much better in 1v1s now, he has more options and better pressure. The only thing he truly lost was punish damage, but considering he's landing more attacks now his ttk hasn't really changed for the worst much.

      ​@@Shroomite_DealerMuli switch is another form of wave dashing starting from one side and ending up right at the same. It's a little awkward to do if you've been wave dashing normally.

      A almost unpunishable defensive move that makes non unblockable openers tedious to almost impossible to use is a bad mechanic. All characters with CC’s lost them for a reason.

      Say you're playing lawbringer, who needs to use his heavies constantly, and a Highlander tries to crushing counter your heavies. What do you do? You feint the heavy any parry the CC right? Except you can't, because he steps out of range. If you throw the heavy, he crushing counters you, if feint the heavy the light whiffs, and HL gets into offensive stance for free while law gets stuck in a glitched animation. I realize not all characters have a glitched parry animation when enemies are out of range, but law does, and this made law vs Highlander a fucking nightmare if someone was using this tech.

      A ton of people have complained about them on basically every character that could do it. They were an unpunishable, spammable form of defense that also put you into chain pressure.

    Edit: I'd rather keep the high damage than take away his wave dash slow him down, his kick feint just makes him another 50/50 bash character..before his rework you really needed skill high risk vs high reward now if you mained highlander it just feels like you bullying people for free (which is fun wont lie, but this just about to cause him to get nerfed now soon)now lol..he just to easy..7/10
    I feel like this was a nerf and buff i thought they forgot about his rework honestly as long as its been. I Think its cool you can cancel his kick, but this is the nerf buff part imo, feint the kick(buff), BUT stay in offensive stance, ()you have to hit O twice for like a 10% chance to parry after the feint kick. Your better off to feint the kick into his stance light and feint a unblockable into a gb>throw into wall ,heavy and mix up etc. Same with the caber toss dodge lol like guy in the vid said i do it on default sometimes not even on purpose now you gotta pause shortly if u want a kick after the forward dodge which is dumb because they can light/dodge attack u on orange and its going to land everytime because the feint forces you to stay in the stance..
