It’s not silently quitting, it’s quiet quitting. And for some reason mainstream twisted the meaning. It doesn’t mean do the bare minimum. It means do your job, but don’t go above and beyond that. Most of the time putting in a lot of extra effort means nothing to corporations. They see you doing extra work and working long hours and they’re not compensating you for it.

Precisely my experience. I had a VP from one company tell my company's owner that I was the best they had ever seen at my job. Three months later they terminated me because I refused to relocate. The person that replaced me is horrifically incompetent but the company doesn't care.

    1. Proper investments are educated gambling. I go with what the numbers say.
    2. Went into real estate. Multiple facets. Loans, mortgages, construction, rentals to balance things out. My father did construction and there was a lot of information about. I had mentors as well.
    3. I am frugal when it counts but have proper quality items that are more expensive but last decades.
    4. I don't get why people think they are better off when they quit to having no job. People at my work support their families with no issue on my income. Just because I have investment income doesn't mean I should quit. I can achieve financial freedom sooner if I use all possible streams of income. I could retire and live VERY frugally, but every year I wait, the better my retirement looks.
    5. The only loans I have are for generating income or paying for my car. I invested the money I would have spent on the car to pay for the car. One year left on the car. The original amount has grown to the point that I can get a more expensive car or another one but this time the investments will pay for the car, insurance and operating costs.
    6. I dumped my side job. I was working every day off work and after hours. I made enough money to invest and create an income stream that allows me to do enjoy my free time like everybody else. I spent 20 years working two jobs.
    7. Thank god my hard work paid off. My means are higher than that of a lot of people. Because I already have all the luxury items I could currently want. I don't really buy anything but food. Proper clothing can be repaired as can jackets and shoes.
    8. Get rich quick schemes...no. I don't bother. I don't need to bother. Anybody bragging about them making money quick, usually loses it quick and won't mention that part. I love to tell those people, who are praying on you, I don't need them.

I do believe not all of these tips fit for everyone. Especially internationally wise.
For example, you mentioned number 4. Whilst my country (Portugal) has a lot of flaws, if you always worked legally and your employer did everything right, you always paid Social Security which would mean that you can retire in your 60s and get basically the lowest of your income in your last 10 years of work. In the US i see people have no retirement funds, so they cannot earn any more passively (without saving or making a 401k). In here if you worked and contributed for 40 years and are at least 67 (in most jobs) you can earn the income I mentioned earlier.
As for number 5 I agree 100%. As a 27 year old I see SO MANY PEOPLE in debt for paying for high tech phones and high end clothing whereas I spend months sometimes looking at something I want to get, even if it's futile and "unnecessary" (like a new guitar for example, or a TV something along those lines) but I pay for it upfront and if I see I don't really have a need for it, or need money in the meantime, I sell it away. The only loans I agree make sense are for car (if possible paid as fast as possible) and your house. Or any very necessary expense that you can't really afford in the moment but really need it (like a washing machine for example, or a stove for your house).
      6. Is very important mostly for mental health. What does it matter if you have high amounts of income if you have no free time? To enjoy the things you like, to actually live life and not work
      8. I've had dumb dudes trying to come up to me with those schemes and I always laughed it off. In all fairness when I was 20 I got really curious but understood what a multi level marketing scheme was really fast after I researched a bit. I remember this dude coming to me showing me all this info. He wasted his family's business (which was a sandwich shop that he inherited and took over when his parents retired) sold it all for this scheme and never got anywhere with it.
TL DR: I agree 100% with you, and I think this should be taken a bit with a grain of salt depending on the situation each person lives in

Quiet quitting isn't about doing the bare minimum only; it is about pushing back at the toxic work cultures that have covert "implied" contracts with their employees (often the youngest and most eager) to trade in being on all the time for a "shot" at being a manager and getting paid more. It is about the lies the employer says when they are dangling a job they don't intend to hand over to the direct, but are looking to exploit it because work itself has become a religion, not a way to make money. We all must contribute, but some are demanding more for less and often for nothing in return (not even keeping them around - the Quiet Firing side of Quiet Qutting).

Thanks for the video, Mark. If there's something I'd add is that while one should do the best they can for a job, doing the bare minimum is being kind to yourself if you've been taken for a ride. Be it not being promoted, not being appreciated with any pay raise or even unfairly treated in terms of benefits.
In this case, I'd say stay for the money and do the bare minimum while staying alert for better opportunities. Don't quit without a plan.
    Good luck to all.

Usually it's all these gurus who know it all and have these perfect routines. Not talking about Mark here, usually talking about these dudes who always have "ways to increase your productivity", especially the ones who have tips for people with ADHD. It pisses me off. I'm entering my late 20s and more and more I understand that life teaches you A LOT of things and these dudes are around my age and don't have it all figured out. You have to make mistakes and expose yourself to succeed, that's the only way. You have to take risks, and learn, develop. People fail at life because they don't try and risk it. The tips and ideas are, most of the times, the generic "exercise, socialize, organize your calendar, make lists, journal, etc etc" which are all great tips and good tips for general life, but they don't really make any difference, they're just good for a small morale boost

One thing I will add to this already good advice is to never stop learning! I see this all the time where people stop learning skills and they plateau on their knowledge and end up in a stagnant rut of life believing they are stuck. No one is born with skills. Its all learned. Even if you think its not possible to learn a skill, all it takes is practice and you can indeed do it. I find great pleasure in learning new things especially if they save me money. Learn and then practice! Everyone has something in the back of their mind that they "wish" they knew how to do or do better. Instead of coming home from work everyday and sitting in front of youtube or playing on your smartphone until bedtime, dedicate 30 min to this new skill every night by researching it then practicing it. You would be amazing where you will be in a month. There is so much free information on the internet today that its pretty easy to learn anything. You might find a new passion which could change your career and your life.

Buy quality products. Yes. My mother-in-law used to buy cheap food, but it was rubbish after a couple of days. "It's cheap!" Yes, and for good reason. After telling her not to do that several times, she eventually bought fresher food.
I worked harder and did more than others at the same company for 10 years, but there was never a promotion for me. I just got given more jobs to do (deputy supervisor, deputy trade executive) but when promotion came to be in the full position, I was always cast aside. I worked out that if you do a great job, you become irreplaceable because nobody else can do it better, so you end up trapping yourself in a lower-paid position. I realised that the company was never going to help me out so I left. Not long after, the company was gone.
Now, I work three hours a day for someone else and I have a side-hustle, which allows me to leverage time by charging 6 people per hour worked instead of a 1:1 income.
I think that if people can get time-leverage, they have much more flexibility. Sure, it isn't passive, but if you can get 6 or more years of income each year, you get that deeper passive income money pool.

Quiet quitting is understanding that people can only focus 4 hours a day and usually a workweek only needs to last 4 days (proven in studies). As long as the toxic culture of seat warming for 8 hours persists, no one is going to be happy. Another one is coming to the office, wasting time getting ready and commuting. The more free time you give your employees, the better they will perform and probably last longer.

The quiet quitting comment I only half agree with. In a corporate environment companies are MORE than willing to take advantage of their employees and have them working over and above for no recompense. That is wrong. That needs to stop. Hence the requirement for 'quiet quitting'. People need to reclaim their work life balance. If a company holds that against employees then that is not the kind of company you want to be working for anyway.

Sure you can work your hardest for a company but for your reward for that is actually more work because they know you will work hard for them and thus you will never get any help for the things you need to do that require teamwork and since corporations know this thay will take advantage of people.
To solve this issue people used to unionize but now they fire you for even trying to start a union but if the majority of people band together and just not go to work then corporations crumble and have to give in to the people because they need workers. In one of your videos you did not recommend locking a large sum of money in a house and considered this a mistake for anybody building wealth. And I wanted to know your expert opinion on buying a house to live in as the higher the deposit, the lower the mortgage. On the other hand the more of your saved cash goes into the deposit, the less money is left for investing. Hard to strike the balance right when in a tight budget and indecision only leads to inaction (not buying, not investing). 6:26 -- This confused me at first until I realized that he doesn't know what the quote means. The meaning of that saying is literally that somewhere else always looks better than where you're at, and it's implied that once you're there the same thing would be true of looking at where you were. It supposedly comes from observations of how cows graze. Therefore, he should have said the quote and moved on because it had already made his point for him instead of appending "it's rarely the case" afterward, negating his intended idea.
