@BillTheDroneReviewer got it in yesterday, wow it really is a good deal, I'm not sure what I expected but it exceeds whatever I thought.
I just got my Specta mini. In comparison to the DJI Mavic it flies identically the same. The app even looks the same. The only benefit is that I don’t get locked into the Geo fencing no fly zone scenario. I’m loving this drone!

Hi Bill. Very good showing here. You moved the gimble during RTH that's why it stopped. Even with DJI if you move the gimble it affects the RTH.

Reminds me of the DJI Mini 4K. If you're a member of Costco, they have the Mini 3 for $299 that comes with a 64G SD card and three ND filters.

as mentioned in other review videos, the resolution automatically drops to 1080p30k in quickshots mode -- which may be a bug but not a big deal to most people watching videos on the phone

Looks, flies & sounds just like a Mini 2. Pretty decent picture quality also.. Although I'd still probably spend the extra $10 for the Mini 2 (with the CareRefresh option ..etc) Walmart still advertising the Mini 2 for $299...

Nice. I will be definitely looking at these drones if the ban goes through. I was trying to see where you can purchase additional batteries but I didn’t see a battery only option on Amazon or the companies website. Any insight on this?
Specta tells me more batteries for both the Specta Air and Specta Mini will be available soon - most likely July.

Your welcome. Just JPEG. Remember this is their entry level drone so it will not have a lot of the bells and whistles on it to keep cost down.

The Specta Air does. I 'm not near any airports or restricted areas so I can't tell you about the Mini.
Before your first flight you should calibrate compass and imu
… another thing could you make a test trying to get Lannc approval to see it allow flight ✈️. Where lannc is requested
There are a number of things I do offscreen to prepare for the first flight of a drone and that includes compass and IMU calibrations. I do not live in an area that requires those authorizations - it would be at least 20 miles from where I live. Thank you.

Questions questions... What size and make a SD card is recommended? Does your phone have to be active with a carrier? I'm assuming you connect via Wi-Fi? Also it would have been nice if you would have gone over the controls for someone that doesn't know DJI products.

Got the same one new, got the drone set up and activated, but the two sticks have no control the drone. did I miss something?
I would look at the Specta Mini Instruction manual in the following attachment. Follow all of the steps exactly as shown.

The most important question (which no one seems to be answering): does this have the same periodic (90 day) login requirement that the DJI drones/app have?
I have had it over 90 days and that has not come up.
@@BillTheDroneReviewer Good to know. I volunteer with SAR and have had to abandon DJI drones due to the login requirement, as we often are operating in areas without cell signal.
So if I've "forgotten" to login after the DJI app auto-logs me out (supposedly it's a 90 day timer; I've been auto-logged out after just 2 weeks before) then a piece of mission critical gear is bricked when I might need it the most.
It's difficult to overstate how significant of an issue this is. If you log out and try to fly the drone, does it allow you to fly the drone?
Most def DJI. Hope they drop the idea of banning DJI 🙏

It is almost identical to the DJI Mini 2 SE. I have not tested the Potensic Atom but from the reviews I have seen the DJI Mini 2 SE and the Specta Mini are better. Thank you.

Could you use the Specta with the DJI Fly app?
The Specta app is really the DJI Fly app just rebranded. The Specta Mini is only meant to be used with the Specta app. Thank you.
Bill, glad I found you. Great video. If I saw correctly, you set up for an Android device. Will it work with iPhone 13? Subscribing. Edit: I just saw your PIN above. I hope it's right because I'm about to buy one. It is now $269 on Amazon. I didn't see anything in the product description or specs that mentioned adding an SD card. Can you comment on brand and size of card I should consider. I know sometimes brand does matter on SD cards. I have a trail camera that will only use 2 brands of SD cards and no, they don't sell their brand of SD card. :)

OK, I don't get it. I have a dji mini2se and the batteries and controller look the same. Is this like we had the Toyota Corolla and Geo Prism was the same car in the 90's? They were made in the same factory side by side in California and as far as I know had interchangable parts.
Software in the battery is different.

Does the Specta brand comes with geofencing like the DJI brand?
I don't live near a no-fly zone so I could not tell. I heard when someone was testing the Specta Air that it did.

The batteries will fit but the software in them is different and won't work.
Did you have any issues with downloading it on Android as it will not install on mine.

Does this have geofence unlock?
I was told that the Specta Air does. Not sure that the Specta Mini has it. You can email Cogito to find out at after-sales@cogito-techs.com
Well, today I got it set up to fly for the first time but it would not take off because it was GEOFENCED!
@@jcperine I was told there was a firmware updated to take care of this. Did you check to see if there were any updates available (just like the Fly app you can check for updates using the three small dots in the upper right hand corner>About>Aircraft Firmware). If it's updated and it's still locked email Specta at after-sales@cogito-techs.com

I heard the dji batteries are just a tad different, so you can't swap them back and fourth. But how about the props? Anyone know?
It's possible they are the same. Extra props are available on Amazon.

@@CCC0122 I just got on using the Android app, powered up the drone and controller, and had no issues whatsoever. Did you use the QR code in the manual provided with the Mini to download the app ?
Specta is literally the same as DJI made in the same spot.

Do you have a link to their flight app for Android? For some reason, my app quit working so I had to delete it. Now I can't find a link to get me back to the download! Please help!

Just bought this drone and the app will not install on my Google pixel 7 pro it trys to block it I hit install anyway and it acts like it installs it then when it's done it says app not installed can anyone please help me soon as possible
Email after-sales@cogito-techs.com. Describe in detail what is happening. Provide screen shots if you can.
The app will not install on a Galaxy S24+, you have to disable all of the security features on your phone to be able to install the app. And it then tells you that the app is not compatible with the new version of android.
Once you finally load the software, disable all your security and launch the app, it's glitchy and it doesn't work well. Maybe five months ago, it used to be decent, but now, in december of 2024, it doesn't work very well on android. You can't even get get a full video without it chopping, quickshot functions don't work - makes it kinda useless.
It's a DJI with a different name on it.

Took my Specta Mini out for it's first flight. It flies fine but there is no video feed to my Galaxy A54. Anyone else have this problem>
Where you able to download the app to your phone ? Does it come up when you select it ? Do you have a solid connection of the cable from the controller to the phone ?
The question is... "Is SPECTA a subsidiary of DJI"? Do you think it is to close to a DJI Mini 4k to be a coincidence?
These are white label drones. Per Specta they are not a subsidiary of DJI.

If you are running on an Android and it is December or later of 2024 the application will not work properly. It's outdated & everything is glitchy. I just filed for return.

Why is it not mentioned ANYWHERE that this drone does not support any iOS devices! The app is only Android and anyone with an iPhone will NOT be able to fly this!!! All the review vids I've seen on RUclips barely (if at all) mention this! A HUGE no-go for many. Suspicious at best...

The drone is very good!! The problem is that it only comes with one battery and no battery is compatible!! And as always, the Chinese have it off the market for some reason😡😡😡😡😡
