Sadly Sanders played so poorly that even if we’d gained 4 more inches, Bama beating UGA sealed our fate out of the CFP.
I hate that game so much lol. But dang Sanders never recovered, he had a great Fiesta Bowl at least. 2022 he was clearly not the same mentally, and in 2023 he didn’t even make the grades to suit up at the end of the season at Ole Miss

I remember the 2016 Houston Cougars and then they lost to Navy which basically killed the rest of their season. I bet if they won that game that could’ve fueled them more and who knows what would’ve happened for the rest of their season. That was a team who was 6th ranked coming into that game and it was supposed to be an easy win. They had a team talented enough to get there.
I do remember that 2018 Washington State squad and they had so much potential to make it until that loss to Washington. When it comes to Oklahoma State, the 2021 squad came extremely close although even if they won that game against Baylor chances are Cincinnati still would’ve gone in but that sealed the deal for the Bearcats to get in without question.

I cannot emphasize enough how magical that 2018 season was for Wazzu. Considering it started on such a sad and tragic note, that year went about as well as anyone could've asked for. The thing about the end of it all that hurt the most wasn't missing out on a CFP spot--I don't remember any of us expecting the Committee to seriously give us a nod unless we beat the brakes off Washington--but missing out on a shot at the Rose Bowl. Losing to Washington meant that we lost the North Division title to the Huskies on a tiebreaker, and the result was the most boring Pac-12 Championship game in the series' run. If we'd managed to beat USC, or if the PAC didn't have those stupid, *stupid* divisions, we would've made the title game, (probably) beaten Utah, and made our third Rose Bowl appearance in the modern era.

As an Oklahoma state fan it seems that we are always in a shadow of someone or just cannot no matter what break through. I remember going to the 2015 Kansas state game with my dad and they clutched up at the end with that field goal. Now I also remember watching that fumble with Boise state with my dad and we both said that should have been a touchdown. Now the bedlam game of 2021 to anyone that hasn’t seen it that game was magic. Oklahoma state has always struggled beating Oklahoma. Always it seems no matter how good they are it basically a guaranteed loss to Oklahoma. Now 2011 the way that year played out was the one scenario where they didn’t get in truly unbelievable. 2015 was forgivable because they were injured and shattered expectations of everyone. 2016 was basically a repeat except the screw job with central Michigan. Basically Oklahoma state has struggled to break through when they have the talent. I’d also say that Baylor is in a similar situation as Oklahoma state. They also had a few chances in the 2010s and could not break through

There's an argument to be made for 2014 Georgia Tech. Had they beaten FSU in the ACC tournament? Yes, they would have had two losses but they would have a win over common opponent of Ohio State and finish with 3 ranked wins to end the yeay

That 2015 Iowa Team believe it or not most likely they would have played Clemson not Alabama if they won that game so it most like would have been Clemson 1 Alabama 2 Oklahoma 3 and Iowa 4 so the Orange Bowl would have been Deshaun Watson vs CJ Bethard and the Cotton Bowl Jake Coker vs Baker Mayfield
