Hey everyone! Just to let you know I put language subtitles for every language on RUclips (labor intensive, whew!!). So now if you are from France, Germany, Romania, China, Japan or wherever... You will be able to listen in and watch the video. I've had so many requests for this I had to do it. Enjoy!
I am SO GLAD that someone finally explained the paint thickness, preparation, etc. There are THOUSANDS of pours on RUclips. This is the First, and so far ONLY video that went into the mixing and explanation of why, etc. THANK YOU!!
Wow!! What a comment! Thank you. I work really hard to try and explain everything so people can get the gist of it all. Once you get those steps down you can really have a consistent method of painting and your paints will dry just like when you put it on the canvas. That’s one of the main things I’ve found out. Because you can have a neat painting when it’s wet but then it’ll dry weird later on. I know there are lots of videos out there but it took me forever to find out the process too. People like to speed up the videos and skip all the teaching steps. I’m glad you enjoyed it. ❤️
I have watched so many, very confusing, this is the first time I have understood, how to mix my paints properly.thank you for explaining, things so I can get to go paint, with out having anxiety attacks, Carol from Belfast N.Ireland
Brilliant idea to have an actual beginner try this. When experienced people do videos they don't always think of the most basic things. When she is adding the paint you can see her hesitating and you encourage her to add more. The first time I tried this I wished I had someone next to me saying when I had enough of everything.
Thanks Michelle. Yeah, it's a bit nerve racking at first but this style of painting is really fun once you get the hang of it. So many options out there now. I am still working on some of the basics. There's some out there that are too detailed for my personal liking but that's okay
Honestly, I really needed this. Thanks for spelling out the actual step by step process. For novice painters like myself, ( and with severe ADHD), this is great...I even watched the entire video.
Carl, This is the BEST tutorial I have seen for pouring, and I it's great that you take the time to answer people's questions. I wanted to see if my Granddaughter and her friends would like to do this for her 14th birthday activity, but couldn't find a tutorial that I thought would work for them ~ now I have. Your video just might get a few young people interested in painting! Thank you so much!
Overall the best “beginner” video I have seen. The other comments help. I am spending a lot of time watching videos before I pour. I have all the paint, additives, canvasses, etc. Thank you!
Loved this video thank you!!! I’d like to add that it’s also helpful to tighten the canvas. Spray water and use a blow dryer (not heat tool) to tighten the canvas. Do this on both sides front and back.
This was one of the best beginner videos I have seen. Thank you very much for sharing I appreciate the thorough explanation on mixing and cell making very informative.
This has been so informative. Thank you for each and every step. I needed to see how the floetrol, glue, water and silicone was mixed and the amount. I feel confidant. Woohoo
Excellent tutorial! Finally found a VERY thorough and easy to follow "dirty pour" instructional video. Glad I found this video and especially this artist. Will definitely be subscribing. Artist's personality and teaching style is such a bonus. Video content is always more important but it absolutely helps when instructor is as terrific as the content.
WOW! Thanks so much Sylvia!! I really really appreciate that. It's hard putting together videos at times that come out just as planned and sometimes they just work. Amanda did a great job too.
Thanks so much for this video. It's the best one I have seen for a beginner like me. You explained it all so well, in really easy to understand steps. Really enjoyed watching this.
I love to paint. I'm self taught. I've painted lots of birdhouses, paintings and tabletops. I'm imagining how the colors will drip down from the top or sides and every tabletop would be unique. I can't wait to try these new techniques!
Great video for someone new to this. I would have liked more explanation - like what is the purpose for the glue, why will some paint chunk, what the heat gun dies, etc. There's plenty of time while watching her mix and play with paint to add a bit more commentary.

A AMAZING. I'm a very big fan of yours. Thank you for your patience and the way you teach us beginners last week I was ready to give up. I had so many people confusing me that I'm just going to listen to you lol
I really liked this tutorial because the minor mistakes were not edited out. We learn by doing, after all. That said, some of the best outcomes result from "minor mistakes." I've done a few dirty pours on round canvases and they ended up lovely yet kind of planetary. That is because I used too much silicone. The shape of the canvas made a difference in my case.
Thank you for showing it all step by step so easy to follow and understand. Thank you also for using products that are accessible to just about everyone

You are very welcome Meryle :) I'm so excited for you to try! You will have a blast. Wha I love about this painting style is there are endless ways to pour and have fun and be creative. Glad you stayed with the video.

I felt like I was there with you :-) Very approachable for us viewers. I'll be giving this a try - actually will get my two oldest grandkids involved. They'd enjoy this.
Some videos show how they use the drippings to paint the sides of the canvas. I was hoping he would say something like that but didn't/ Oh well, it's a choice I guess. I appreciate the patience of this teacher and his tone of voice is really nice and kindly. I have not done pouring before. I am getting all the info I can get now before I start buying other supplies. Interesting.!

I was taught with giant sized push pins, maybe 1.5 -2" (4-5 cm)? Who knew the little ones would do! In the creators defense, her canvas was quite large, using two extra along the long sides. Thanks for sharing your tut! I'm not a huge fan of blue, but converting my RV into a tiny home the fabric the factory used has navy blue in it. I added turquoise to the navy with towels and pot holders in the kitchen area, and now I find this paint tut, with my color scheme! Love when things fall into place and seem to meant to be. I've purchased supplies for making some canvas, but not taken the leap of faith into the actual work! Chickennnnn chicken!
I love how amanda’s art turned out! I find it captivating and there is so much in it to see. Very beautiful. Im looking so forwrd to giving this a go. Cheers. Mke
I am so excited. I actually felt like I was a student in your class. I think I'm ready to start . I just need to get the basics. I haven't watched your other videos but now I know what I'm doing Sunday. Thanks for the great job.
Really enjoyed this video. I was looking for the basics for beginners. You did a great job explaining and taking the time to answer questions on the comments. 💙
I love how once she starts the creativity just flows & she takes off just creating! Thank u for this helpful vid. I do mixed media & I’ve wanted to try pour painting forever... ur a great teacher. Gratitude brother. 🙏🏻💚
Carl I loved your lesson. You see I am used to paint oil but I really would like to try this kind of technique. I already subscribed and hope to learn more. Thanks for your help. Grace from Portugal.
I tried this out a couple of years ago after watching your video. Turned out amazing! I used red, gold, pink and white. Love it. I want to try pouring resin over it now.
So happy to see this video. Now I know why I got cracks in my paint. I had left on the kitchen platform and after I had gone bed, my husband put the fan on full speed.
Thank you for teaching such a great pastime. And great job to Amanda (also my name) as well for her first pour. I wish I had the right person there to guide me with my first pours, & wished I had the right stuff. This painting came out gorgeous. Amanda is a natural beauty herself as well.
that came out amazing!! Thanks for the step by step too. its rare that someone does a step by step mixing guide and it has help me understand more about how to mix my stuff before i pour. i plan on trying pour painting sometime in the near future.
Too funny! I was thinking why don't he just leave her alone and let her be creative with it OR just tell her to move aside so he could take over! I guess he got really enthusiastic when he saw how beautiful it was turning out and he didn't want her to ruin it. It was funny nevertheless! Great video.
I thought he was trying to do a tutorial and a private class, so it came off as bossy. I actually wished she would have listened to him because I'm more into the tutorial side of the video.
Wonderful video, thank you for sharing it with us. I learned a lot....& what few questions I did have, the answers were easily found just reading through your extensive & very detailed replies to comments. I'm a painter myself(mostly furniture) & I find when I'm teaching someone, typically just family & friends, I tend to forget to explain bits of detail as I'm more focused on the visual of what's happening in front of me. So you taking the time to come back & explain all the 'ingredients' so thoroughly was very much appreciated. She made a stunning canvas & I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers!
Awesome comment! ❤️❤️ I thank you so much Stacey. That means a lot. Yeah I was a bit weird that day because I wasn’t at my place and one of the cameras screwed up too. But for some reason this video really took off. I’m going to make more with better explanations too. Thank you so much!
For me I must use gloves sleeveless tops and Reynolds freezer paper down underneath to reuse the acrylic once it dries it will peel off the paper but you can frame what’s left
Thanks you for wonderful instructions. I love your voice. I don’t see any dirty yet but now I know eac color has different consistency would reaction the difference on canvas, that’s no one tutor that .and you’re so patience
I use a product called Liquitex Gloss Varnish and its a brush on application. You can also find spray cans of sealants for paintings on Amazon. But yes it does need to be sealed.
I wish you had explained the purpose of the floetrol, glue, and silicone. It was an amazing video to learn but not sure the purpose of the additives and what they do
Sorry about that Amber. Many people want to know. The glue acts as a binder to the paint. You can use glue without using the Floetrol. Floetrol is a paint conditioner... an additive. I personally like using them together because I feel it makes the paint flow really nice and it also makes the painting dry nice too. When I started out, too many times I would come back and my painting would look so much different than what I had after I had just poured it. When I started using the glue and the Floetrol I had really really good success with my paintings looking the same as when I had just poured it. The silicone is what makes the reaction for the cells to appear. It’s kind of like adding oil to water. It’s going to bubble up when you put it in water. Kind of the same affect when you put it in acrylic paint.
@@deannfrey3469 The glue acts as a binder to the paint. You can use glue without using the Floetrol. Floetrol is a paint conditioner... an additive. Seriously, people give me loads of crap for using both Floetrol AND Glue at the same time. Many don't believe you need both at all. Well... I have done LOTS of paintings with them both and it's what has worked really great for me and I always want to share my little tips. Try mixing the glue first with the paint to make sure you get a nice bind to the paint, then add the Floetrol and mix it good. Can add a little bit of distilled water too, just not too much. Here's a large pour I did without any silicone! Just... Floetrol, Liquitex pouring medium and a little water (only if needed). Bam! One of my favorite all time paintings. ruclips.net/video/j5VWclhtVa8/видео.html So all in all... I don't see what friends are talking about when they say you shouldn't use Floetrol if you're using another pouring medium, that's "it's wasteful" and whatever. My experience of working with paint pouring tells me to do what I want to do it's my paintings. Dry time is when the real answers come out and that's where I had my best successes with using Floetrol and glue together. The paint on the canvas dried nice and flat without any cracking or crazing, no bubbles most the time, paint stays flexible, application is way easier, better coverage, no blank spots, chemicals react good together when using the silicone, etc etc I could go on and on. Also I live in a very dry dry area in the Utah high desert at 6,000 ft and the paintings I did with JUST glue and water did not ever turn out as nice as when i used Floetrol and glue together. Sometimes I would get lucky here and there... But who wants here and there? Consistency for me. That's my two cents on the whole thing lol. Here's the first big pour I did and used the pouring medium by liquitex and Floetrol together. I was so nervous doing this the first time. haha ruclips.net/video/4uJeKZfV3NQ/видео.html Thanks for your comment!
Brilliant video .I like the way it's explained Thanks . I am new to this pouring paint technique, only got my first set from Amazon yesterday. Love the girl's result
Carl, YOUR AN EXCELLANT TEACHER !!! You have Alot of PATIENCE !!! And thts a Great Trait of a Great Teacher 👍 I am 72 yes old and I want to learn and do this very badly I just don't know what to buy and where to buy tht liquid tht starts with an F. I know I can get cups, glue, stirring sticks, and canvas... I would LOVE to make these for my grandchildren.. Can you make a video the names of the products PLEASE? And where to buy them? I don't buy on Amazon bc I'm not computer savvy. Thank you Carl !!!
Do you mean the flotrol type medium( or glue as he is using) or just a paint ? Should the paint have the flotrol added before base coating canvas, or just the acrylic itself? leave wet or dry prior to pouring? So many questions, Sorry probably dumb questions but dont know if ya dont ask right?!
I only add the Floetrol afterwards. I don’t prime a canvas ever. I buy mine preprimed. I mix the Floetrol after I mix the acrylic paint with the glue first. Then add Floetrol and mix. It’ll be awesome!
That simply isn't true. Tiktus is an experienced pourer. I have to think Tiktus meant that the canvas has to have been Gesso primed, and as far as I know, most people buy their canvases already primed with Gesso.
Very informative info. Thanks so much for sharing. I wish I had sern this when I had first started. I just recently have had some cracking problems so appreciated telling us how to prevent that. I learn so much visually then with someone just telling me. Thank you.
I really liked your tutorial...I am completely new in any painting period! Something I will try eventually...I had no problem following and understanding your video! You showed and gave enough instructions for me to give it a try! I am only wondering what I will have to do with the sides to look finished?!
*Quick Pro Tip!*- Lubricate the cup before filling, (with oil based lubricant, not silicone; WD-40 works well) helps the paint "release" easier and less paint wasted! Straining the "clumpy" paints helps too. If you don't have a heat gun, buy a "Creme Brulee Torch" off Amazon, not expensive and really works! Never use a hair dryer. Beautiful work! 💖
@@farhanamoosa6062 What happens? Immediate death!! 😱👻 Just kidding! This is what we I was told+taught, if it's not true, not my fault! First, the hair dryer will move the paint around, with the air current. Flame does not. Second, the "cones" are created by adding a few drops of silicone to the paint layers and the flame ignites the small silicone particles, revealing a circle (cone) of multiple colors. I was also told that the hair dryer didn't get hot enough to ignite the silicone. Créme Brulee Torch kits are less than $10 on Amazon, if you wanted to not use a hair dryer. ♥️
WOW....Love your teaching voice. This looks fun to do....I really need ANOTHER craft to do...........When I come back in my next life, I hope I know how to do all of everything that I have learned in this lifetime. Thanks for the video. Sub and bell.

Well hopefully you can get er done!! Haha. I wish you all the best!
I love how amanda’s art turned out! I find it captivating and there is so much in it to see. Very beautiful. Im looking so forwrd to giving this a go. Cheers. Mke
Yes! That will be so fun for you to try. Be careful it's addictive LOL!
the best video-tutorial I have seen on YT so far! TNX a lot!
Thank you so much for this video! I am getting ready to start these types of paintings and needed to see it from a novice's perspective:)
You’re so welcome Marilyn!
I am so excited. I actually felt like I was a student in your class. I think I'm ready to start . I just need to get the basics. I haven't watched your other videos but now I know what I'm doing Sunday. Thanks for the great job.
Love how you taught her. Great results!
Thanks so much Sheila!!
Really enjoyed this video. I was looking for the basics for beginners. You did a great job explaining and taking the time to answer questions on the comments. 💙
Thank you for the comment. I appreciate that. 🥰
Thank you so much!
you guys are doing a good job
What an awesome video! Iearned a lot! Thank you! Very calm and patience voice!
Thanks so much Jim!
I tried this out a couple of years ago after watching your video. Turned out amazing! I used red, gold, pink and white. Love it. I want to try pouring resin over it now.
That would be awesome!!
this is awesome, you explain things very well. I'm trying to get my courage up to try! Thanks!
Awesome Mark! :)
I friggin love this. Need this acrylic pour action in my life lol
What a great Tutorial!! I love that you replied to so many questions. It's great to learn from those also. Definatley a new subscriber here!
Well, thank you so much! I haven't replied as much lately because I got busy with other job stuff, but I sure appreciate you subscribing.
So happy to see this video. Now I know why I got cracks in my paint. I had left on the kitchen platform and after I had gone bed, my husband put the fan on full speed.
Oh no Lavina!! That sucks. Hope you can give it another try...
What an amazing tutorial Carl! New subscriber here to stay. You rock and it is obvious that you put your heart and Soul into your work. Great job!
Wow! Thank you. I really do appreciate that so much. I’m starting to get back into it. I want to do more.
Yay! Thank you for posting this! Exactly what I've been looking for :) subscribed!
Awesome! Super awesome Luna!! ❤️❤️
So happy I found this! Great tutorial thank you😊✨
Thank you, love the tutorial on mixing. A first for me to see. ❤️
Thank you Deniese!
It looks great! I loveher confidence andhis restraint givingherher head to eplore and OWNher process choices and result!
Thank you for teaching such a great pastime. And great job to Amanda (also my name) as well for her first pour. I wish I had the right person there to guide me with my first pours, & wished I had the right stuff. This painting came out gorgeous. Amanda is a natural beauty herself as well.
Thank you so much for the compliments that means so much to me and Amanda! You’re very kind. I hope you find lots of pleasure in painting.
that came out amazing!! Thanks for the step by step too. its rare that someone does a step by step mixing guide and it has help me understand more about how to mix my stuff before i pour. i plan on trying pour painting sometime in the near future.
Total creative control. Unless you wanna put more blue on it! Put more blue on the edge! Now you can use the heat gun if you want. Use the heat gun.
HAHAHA!! Exactly. Do what I tell you and you'll have creative freedom. LOL! I have learned to calm down a bit more and let them do what they feel.
Thank you for sharing step by step. Well documented. But I would like to know the "why" behind the floetrol and glue instead of one or the other
Yeah, i was a bit unclear on that one Dustin. I've gotten better about explanations.
Enjoyed your video for us beginners - I really like her sweatshirt!!!
Why thank you Denise!
Absolutely AWESOME instructor!! Thank you so much for doing this for us!!!
Thanks so much Trish for the comment, you're welcome.
I did this method with different coloured nail varnishes on one side of a double sided hand mirror for my Mum when I was 6. 50 years ago
on purpose?
For me I must use gloves sleeveless tops and Reynolds freezer paper down underneath to reuse the acrylic once it dries it will peel off the paper but you can frame what’s left
Wow!! Great idea Sharamay!!
That Is A Great Idea!!! Do You Think The Same Results Would Happen With Parchment Paper? TYIA!!!
Thanks you for wonderful instructions. I love your voice. I don’t see any dirty yet but now I know eac color has different consistency would reaction the difference on canvas, that’s no one tutor that .and you’re so patience
I just did my first 2 cup pour painting watching your video! I used paint pouring medium! They turned out awesome!
Gina that so awesome to hear!!! 😍❤️
Carl Mazur I wanted to know what do I do once is dried? Do I need to spray it with anything?
I use a product called Liquitex Gloss Varnish and its a brush on application. You can also find spray cans of sealants for paintings on Amazon. But yes it does need to be sealed.
I will give it a go, thank you for this tutorial!
You’re very welcome
Please watch some real tutorials
I like when the paint covers the sides, looks better and more finished.
Me too. I really like when I use thick framed canvases and it drips over. It's so cool!
countryhorseluvr yes agreed...he didn’t even teach her to tilt 😐
Amber Ostrander agreed. Why the glue?
Bam! One of my favorite all time paintings.
ruclips.net/video/j5VWclhtVa8/видео.html
So all in all...
I was so nervous doing this the first time. haha

Thanks for your comment!
@@CarlMazur thanks
Carl Mazur .
Well done Amanda; you performed like a genius 👍 👌 😀 !
Brilliant video .I like the way it's explained Thanks . I am new to this pouring paint technique, only got my first set from Amazon yesterday. Love the girl's result
Thank you so much! It’s always nice to hear a nice comment.
Carl,
YOUR AN EXCELLANT TEACHER !!!
You have Alot of PATIENCE !!!
And thts a Great Trait of a Great Teacher 👍
I am 72 yes old and I want to learn and do this very badly I just don't know what to buy and where to buy tht liquid tht starts with an F. I know I can get cups, glue, stirring sticks, and canvas...
I would LOVE to make these for my grandchildren..
Can you make a video the names of the products PLEASE? And where to buy them? I don't buy on Amazon bc I'm not computer savvy.
Thank you Carl !!!
Actually I found him a little controlling at times...
I am loving your teaching...
Thanks Loretta! I am loving your comment, lol. You rock!
The most important thing before painting. prime the canvas with the medium, otherwise the edge absorbs the paint. Otherwise well explained.
@@CarlMazur You had her mix the floetrol and glue, then the paint. ??????
Carl Mazur o
That simply isn't true. Tiktus is an experienced pourer. I have to think Tiktus meant that the canvas has to have been Gesso primed, and as far as I know, most people buy their canvases already primed with Gesso.
Very informative info. Thanks so much for sharing. I wish I had sern this when I had first started. I just recently have had some cracking problems so appreciated telling us how to prevent that. I learn so much visually then with someone just telling me. Thank you.
Terri, you are so welcome and thank you for watching
Great video !!!!!!!!! I love the push pins tip yesss!!!
You’re welcome! ❤️🥰
I really liked your tutorial...I am completely new in any painting period! Something I will try eventually...I had no problem following and understanding your video! You showed and gave enough instructions for me to give it a try! I am only wondering what I will have to do with the sides to look finished?!
Lise, I know right. I should’ve had her finish the sides. Kinda crazy I didn’t and this is my most popular video. Haha. Whoops!
What happens if you use a hair dryer?
@@farhanamoosa6062 What happens? Immediate death!! 😱👻
Just kidding! ♥️
Yes, immediate death occurs quickly. Haha! 😆 No really a hairdryer just blows the paint around too much.
@@CarlMazur 👀👀 hello! 💙
I like the build up of her confidence towards it lol
I really enjoyed your video! It was great!
Thank you Leone!!
WOW....Love your teaching voice. This looks fun to do....I really need ANOTHER craft to do...........When I come back in my next life, I hope I know how to do all of everything that I have learned in this lifetime. Thanks for the video. Sub and bell.
Thanks so much Muriel! Yes there’s so many crafts out there to do.
