I would like to add some clarification! Please read this before commenting!! In “reason 1” I mention how i planned to leave WoF after growing a following. I would like to clarify that I do NOT mean I am using WoF or the fandom for clout. What I mean by this is that I was waiting to find more people with similar interests and people who are more interested in my personal work. I also used to really love WoF when I started drawing from the fandom. WoF content used to be fun for me and one of the upsides was that I was able to find other artists that also liked dragons! I posted WoF because I genuinely liked it for quite a while. I would like to make it very clear that I was not using the WoF fandom for clout, I do not really care about my subscriber amount, especially not as much as I used to. I was posting WoF because I enjoyed it and found artists with similar interests to my own! If you would like clarification on anything else, please ask! I know that sometimes I am not very clear with my words, I am really trying to improve! I do not mean to upset anyone or make anyone feel used. Thank you for reading and I hope this made this video a bit more clear 🩷 Also, in the end, this is MY channel and I have the freedom to post what I want to post. If you think that it is wrong of me to switch content style, then I respect your opinion but that is the mindset that stops growth. I don’t want to be stuck posting the same thing all the time, I want to learn and adapt my channel! I hope you can understand that. This is my channel and therefore I have the right to make this choice. If you do not agree with it, then you don’t have to watch my videos, it’s that easy :) I have made this video, not to say WoF is bad, but to tell those who watch my content that I will be changing some things. Oh my gosh I feel the same way! I love wings of fire, it’s what got be into dragons when I was only in 3rd grade, and the art is cool, but I kinda don’t care about the books anymore and have been more interested in writing my own, but dragons are never leaving my life >:3

Same recently I’ve found myself not rly caring about the characters from the books as much as I used to but I still love looking at others oc’s and fantribes, etc and I’m still absolutely in love with dragons, fantasy books, and books where the main characters r (usually) non humans. But the main problem was that I was literally going crazy over to the point where I could barely talk to others cause I was so caught up in an imaginary world. But I haven’t been obsessing over it like I used to so I think I’ll just stop making things about wof for a while (tho I don’t post my art, memes, other things cause I have real bad nervousness when it comes to showing this stuff) but on things like Pinterest I still have m6 wof board, I’ll still watch wof vids sometimes, I think u get it. And I’m also not rly gonna like comment much other than complimenting things I like cause ppl start fighting over random useless things and it just kinda bothers me. I’m trying to focus more on the real world rn but hopefully I can rediscover the wof fandom and have some happy memories :)

While I obviously haven’t watched the video yet, I can understand why you made this decision. It might not be the same reason, but I did something like this. For a while, once I read Wof I was literally OBSESSED with it. I loved it so much and got really sucked into it. So much so, that the focus was no longer on my own characters. When I realized this I made the tough decision to take a break from Wof for a little while so I could finally focus on my own stories and characters, and developing that instead of being stuck focused on someone else’s creation. I still love Wof and draw dragons from the series, by distancing myself for a bit I was finally able to expand and develop my own stories, instead of just being obsessed with someone else’s. Ik this probably isn’t the same as your reasoning, but I just felt like sharing! Whatever you choose I’ll support you Gemma :) Btw, does this mean the hybrid challenge won’t be continued? Bc it’s technically still Wof

Though I am sad to see you leave, I completely understand your reasons. I find a few of them relatable, in fact. I have been considering leaving several fandoms myself recently, including WoF and Warrior Cats. I have many OCs I love very much, but several are based only loosely on the series (especially applies to Warriors here) and their lore diverges greatly from canon. I guess I just don’t want all these things I’ve made and grown attached to be hinged on someone else’s creation, is what I’m saying. I want to focus on my own characters and all the stories I want to tell. Wings of Fire and Warriors will forever hold a special place in my heart- from helping me improve my vocabulary and writing skills, to being a form of escapism (WoF was the only dragon-focused books I could find for my dragon-obsessed self), they were what finally got me into joining MAPs and inadvertently my RUclips hobby, and so, so much more, but quite importantly they introduced me to many wonderful communities and people, including you, Gemma. Maybe one day I’ll let them go, but not just yet. Either way, I’m very excited to see more from you! Sorry for going on a rant I had to get this off my chest lol

Ok so, I kinda just ran into one of your videos “bad” animation meme, and I loved your style and everything about the video, so I wanted to look into your channel. Literally amazing work btw. This video is genuinely so amazing so listen to, because for me personally, I agree with almost everything you said (minus the series writing and plots, just for me personally I love the series) the way you addressed everything is so endearing and you seem like a very nice and genuine person. I really appreciate how you didn’t try to “get back” at the WOF community, just because your leaving, because I feel like it’s common for creators who used to be in certain communities to have some back lash towards them. I haven’t been active in the WoF community for a long time and it holds a good place in my heart, but I’ve moved on and I’m glad to be doing what I love.
Hi Gemma! I know you’ve probably heard this hundreds of times, but you’ve always got the support of your subscribers, no matter what happens. I think it’s awesome you were able to make your own decision to follow what you felt comfortable with! That’s just a great example in general. On a side note, does this mean you’ll post more videos about your own book series or stop posting in general? :)

My story’s kind of long, but I feel like it’s similar to what you’re experiencing and might help you feel confident in your decision (knowing that I and others understand). I first found WoF around 2020. I was OBSESSED with it and read the first arc happily. However, I soon discovered that there were things portrayed in the series that I didn’t really… agree with. So I moved on, even if it was hard. I began creating my own story, and soon came up with the first iteration of it. It wasn’t really good, considering it was very similar to WoF and basically copied the plot of Avatar: The Last Airbender (I had watched it for the first time), but I loved expanding on it. The story kept evolving, and eventually changed drastically from very WoF-like (how the dragons act) to actually original. Also, I dropped the A:TLA akin storyline. During this time, I finally decided to read Warriors. I am still in the fandom and love the characters, even if they and the plot in general was lacking in quality. But I was also giving a lot of time to my personal story, and it continued changing until the present day iteration. Even if I’ve gotten back into WoF (putting aside what I disagreed with), I am glad that I originally left it. If I hadn’t, the personal story I have today might have never existed, or be very different. I know you, Gemstone, have a story very different from mine, but maybe putting WoF aside will mold your story into something even greater now that you can focus on it.

I am quite sad you are giving up the Wings of Fire community, but I understand the reason you did, although I, personally, am not quite as interested in your book stories as much as many others, I still understand why you want to do your own thing. The Wings of Fire community can be quite harsh and toxic towards many of our communities' artists. Though, I am happy you're pursuing your own dreams and imagination, I just hope you find happiness in leaving the Wings of Fire community, I really do get why you left as the Wings of Fire community it is quite small and does not get a lot of attention, I too do not agree with some of the content in the book series and am quite frustrated in the way the series spiraled downward into an unenjoyable series. I'm happy for you, and of course I will stay with you to the bitter end. You inspired me to try harder and pursue my dreams and ideas. Yes,Yes i know this comment is 3 weeks late but i would like to add by saying my experience with Wings of Fire and Fandoms/The Art community in general....and why i left those fandoms I used to Only draw cats and wolves (because cats and wolves were very popular when i went back to doing art almost everyday) i wanted to draw something that was already way too overrated and already had several Web series of (Like The Stolen Hope,WhiteFall,etc) one of the main reasond why i dipped my fingers into Warrior cats and WoF was because of how popular they were and still how they very much are popular even now I recently stepped away from every Fandom in existence becaues of the backlash and drama of being in all those fandoms and wanted to not get envolved with any of it,especially by chance I wanted to Focus on my own Stories,Characters and Whatever makes *me* happy not what the audience wanted or what was popular and would get me tons of views,i regretted wasting my life away with that dream of mine by just rubbing off a fandoms popularity I do Fully Agree with you're decision SleepingGemstone and i am sorry that people took the video the wrong way because you didn't fix it fast enough with a comment saying "Disclaimer,etc" I have seen the darksides of fandoms and the art community to where i was stuck in some of its drama as well by accident or by saying my piece or siding with said side Nobody should be treated like this over a simple mistake,especially if its an opinion and not a threat thats harming its fans/viewers or that fandom in general
Yeah, so many of the fandoms are filled with controversy and drama. Which I personally found entertaining when I joined the fandoms (I’m weird like that). Then it just too far too many times. Ppl pushing other out of the community because they did one wrong thing, not accepting any apologies, making drama known to everyone, everyone has to pick sides. It’s just not a fun time. There were fun times, but those times were rarely within the fandom. The fandoms just weren’t fun anymore if you get what u means

To be honest I have found myself falling away from WOF as well, the story I feel like is getting worse and the toxicity of the fandom I have seen time and time again so I completely understand! As for what your doing now I am really exited for! ever sence your first story video I've REALLY REALLY wanted to know more! I love your writing style and it has influenced me as a writer to! I have also grown out of my Wof phase tremendously. And to ayone who feels the same who may be looking for a book like Wof aimed for an older aucidence, I recomend age of fire by e e knight. It's a well written bitter sweet story about dragons.

As someone who has also left the WOF community due to religious differences and has grown from it, you will grow 100%! Leaning off of something that has helped you grow is NOT easy, but I am very proud of you for making this video and being open to why you are leaving. @@Sqndcrafts_13 well, since the books series included that abomination about acting on love between the same genders, I left completely not only stopped reading the books series but also the WoF community, so I would say yes since the way I see it it’s like we’re betraying God by being in a community that everyone knows that there are same-gender love and yet still are interested in it and take pleasure in reading the books still even though it includes stuff not pleasing to God

But it calls out child-touchers being terrible, and that boys can suffer from it too) to men not being able to do it :/ and there are tons of Christians that are LGBTQ+ (I'm apart of the community myself, but atheist [don't shove it down people's throats, barely ever talk about my beliefs])

I do understand your decision. I really only do WOF content for the art side of it as well. Wings of Fire is an ok book series, but the dragons, designs and art are the only reasons I chose this particular community. I just want you to know that I subscribed to you because you are such an inspiration. I love the way you put so much thought into you pieces. *long comment warning lol* i'm really glad you're doing this. ik that sounds weird, but your interests and health should always come first, and it takes a lot of courage to do what you are doing. i'm also really glad the hybrid and redesign challenges will still be completed lol; your takes on WoF designs are just soooo amazing! i agree with you about not wanting to support the series. i am also Christian, so i buy the books secondhand. i mostly just read them because i like the world of WoF, not necessarily the stories i do just have one question: the thing about the ships, is your issue with them being in the books, or the fact that some people ship those ships? cuz only Ripnami out of those is kind of canon, although they haven't had much development since Tsunami is no longer a POV character and she is a teacher at Jade Mountain now (although they have sent letters back and forth? i think?) i don't consider Cleril a ship personally, since it is literally just Peril crushing on Clay. just my opinions tho anyway, i am VERY excited about more content from your book! i am also writing a fantasy series/working on art for it (and also WoF fanart), and you are probably my biggest inspiration! so keep true to you, what matters is that you are enjoying yourself!

My issue with the ships is that they are widely accepted within the community. I know most are not cannon, however they are treated as such by many creators and I don’t see that as a good thing

This! I love this and fully support you in your decision. I also left the Wings of Fire community, mainly for the reason of personal beliefs over things in the series, but also because I didn't feel like it was for me. I do Warrior Cats content... But I don't consider myself part of the fandom. Which probably doesn't make sense but it does to me. I've found fandoms to be messy and really just sources of drama... People like to fight over things that have nothing to do with the books. And in the last year I've been trying to veer away from Warriors content ro start doing content on my own series as well as other series and art-related subjects that I enjoy. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that fandoms are kinda toxic and am happy you're making this decision. And honestly? I think you can post Wings of Fire content from time to time and not actually be in the fandom. I see a difference between bwing a content creator for a series and being in the fandom for the series.

I also completely agree with the points you make about the series as while the series brought me back into the Fantasy genre, it’s hard to ignore the the inconsistencies/plotholes/toxic things/etc. and I’ve also put distance between myself and the fandom as well, not just with this one, but with others as well. I’ll usually watch videos, mostly art, about the series but only really things I can enjoy. I think you made a lot of very good points and I’m glad you are able to speak up about it. I feel it is very difficult to be a part of a community without people assuming your agree with everything in it. I personally have a lot of issues with many of the communities I am a part of but I consider myself in them still because I love certain aspects of it. I hope to see more of your content regardless of what it is. (Personally I found your channel interesting because of the beautiful art you make so I’m excited to see you break out of the Wof shell and make other stuff!)

Hey, I'm actually really interested in hearing your criticism on WoF 👀 I've only heard a few things, like the monarchy system being misandrist, but I'd love to hear how you think it displays war in a way that isn't realistic. I admittedly haven't read very far, but I'd also be very sad if they did teach that there are only good guys and bad guys because that's a mindset I've been trying to overcome for years. I feel like, with the quote from Moonwatcher I've seen on her wiki about Darkstalker and how nobody is completely evil, the series is going to veer in a direction where redemption is a common theme and I'd love that, hell what if Darkstalker gets redeemed (I've had some spoilers but there's still so much idk haha)--I'd love to see a good representation of redemption and I'd even more love to see it paralleled with a character who was given so many chances it became enabling and the character is at that point not worth the effort of redemption. I believe nobody is ever too far gone, though, so what if the fact everyone stops supporting that villain is what makes them hit rock bottom and realize they're in the wrong? I love a good story about someone actually putting in effort to be a good person. God, now I have more ideas for my upcoming WoF fic lol
(Sorry it took me so long to respond) WoF (especially in the first arc) is really focused on only bad guys and good guys. Like blister and burn are completely evil. Scarlet is completely evil, and even morrowseer. These are some of the main villains and they just, don’t have a good side at all. It gets better with Darkstalker but he as well is just shown as a bad guy. Like, he used to be good but now he isn’t good at all. Same with Albatross. I think the author tried to make them look like they had a good side, however their good side is just their past. They no longer have a good side. Another thing that really bothers me about the war stuff, is that the dragonets of destiny saw so much battle, Tsunami even k*lled someone! And that someone was her father!! However, despite all this, they had no trauma or anything. Tsunamis actions were never brought up again outside book two. And from everything the dragonets saw, it doesn’t affect their lives in any way. War does affect people, it affects people in horrible ways! But in WoF it doesn’t. I think that with such a heavy topic like war, it should give some insight into the ways it really impacts lives

In “reason 1” I mention how i planned to leave WoF after growing a following. I would like to clarify that I do NOT mean I am using WoF or the fandom for clout. What I mean by this is that I was waiting to find more people with similar interests and people who are more interested in my personal work. I also used to really love WoF when I started drawing from the fandom. WoF content used to be fun for me and one of the upsides was that I was able to find other artists that also liked dragons! I posted WoF because I genuinely liked it for quite a while.
I would like to make it very clear that I was not using the WoF fandom for clout, I do not really care about my subscriber amount, especially not as much as I used to. I was posting WoF because I enjoyed it and found artists with similar interests to my own! If you would like clarification on anything else, please ask! I know that sometimes I am not very clear with my words, I am really trying to improve! I do not mean to upset anyone or make anyone feel used. Same recently I’ve found myself not rly caring about the characters from the books as much as I used to but I still love looking at others oc’s and fantribes, etc and I’m still absolutely in love with dragons, fantasy books, and books where the main characters r (usually) non humans. But the main problem was that I was literally going crazy over to the point where I could barely talk to others cause I was so caught up in an imaginary world. But I haven’t been obsessing over it like I used to so I think I’ll just stop making things about wof for a while (tho I don’t post my art, memes, other things cause I have real bad nervousness when it comes to showing this stuff) but on things like Pinterest I still have m6 wof board, I’ll still watch wof vids sometimes, I think u get it. And I’m also not rly gonna like comment much other than complimenting things I like cause ppl start fighting over random useless things and it just kinda bothers me. I’m trying to focus more on the real world rn but hopefully I can rediscover the wof fandom and have some happy memories :)

While I obviously haven’t watched the video yet, I can understand why you made this decision. It might not be the same reason, but I did something like this. For a while, once I read Wof I was literally OBSESSED with it. I loved it so much and got really sucked into it. So much so, that the focus was no longer on my own characters. When I realized this I made the tough decision to take a break from Wof for a little while so I could finally focus on my own stories and characters, and developing that instead of being stuck focused on someone else’s creation. I still love Wof and draw dragons from the series, by distancing myself for a bit I was finally able to expand and develop my own stories, instead of just being obsessed with someone else’s. Ik this probably isn’t the same as your reasoning, but I just felt like sharing! Whatever you choose I’ll support you Gemma :)

Though I am sad to see you leave, I completely understand your reasons. I find a few of them relatable, in fact.
I have been considering leaving several fandoms myself recently, including WoF and Warrior Cats. I have many OCs I love very much, but several are based only loosely on the series (especially applies to Warriors here) and their lore diverges greatly from canon.
I guess I just don’t want all these things I’ve made and grown attached to be hinged on someone else’s creation, is what I’m saying. I want to focus on my own characters and all the stories I want to tell.
Wings of Fire and Warriors will forever hold a special place in my heart- from helping me improve my vocabulary and writing skills, to being a form of escapism (WoF was the only dragon-focused books I could find for my dragon-obsessed self), they were what finally got me into joining MAPs and inadvertently my RUclips hobby, and so, so much more, but quite importantly they introduced me to many wonderful communities and people, including you, Gemma.
Maybe one day I’ll let them go, but not just yet.
Either way, I’m very excited to see more from you! Sorry for going on a rant I had to get this off my chest lol

Ok so, I kinda just ran into one of your videos “bad” animation meme, and I loved your style and everything about the video, so I wanted to look into your channel. Literally amazing work btw. This video is genuinely so amazing so listen to, because for me personally, I agree with almost everything you said (minus the series writing and plots, just for me personally I love the series) the way you addressed everything is so endearing and you seem like a very nice and genuine person. My story’s kind of long, but I feel like it’s similar to what you’re experiencing and might help you feel confident in your decision (knowing that I and others understand).
I first found WoF around 2020. I was OBSESSED with it and read the first arc happily. However, I soon discovered that there were things portrayed in the series that I didn’t really… agree with. So I moved on, even if it was hard. I began creating my own story, and soon came up with the first iteration of it. It wasn’t really good, considering it was very similar to WoF and basically copied the plot of Avatar: The Last Airbender (I had watched it for the first time), but I loved expanding on it.
The story kept evolving, and eventually changed drastically from very WoF-like (how the dragons act) to actually original. Also, I dropped the A:TLA akin storyline. During this time, I finally decided to read Warriors. I am still in the fandom and love the characters, even if they and the plot in general was lacking in quality. But I was also giving a lot of time to my personal story, and it continued changing until the present day iteration.
Even if I’ve gotten back into WoF (putting aside what I disagreed with), I am glad that I originally left it. If I hadn’t, the personal story I have today might have never existed, or be very different. I know you, Gemstone, have a story very different from mine, but maybe putting WoF aside will mold your story into something even greater now that you can focus on it.
continuing your passion and interests are the most important things as a creator. doing what you love most is what keeps you motivated. do what you think is right gemma, i respect you for the choices you are making and will support you along the way, you are a very much so talented person, i cant wait to see what you create in the future :3

I am quite sad you are giving up the Wings of Fire community, but I understand the reason you did, although I, personally, am not quite as interested in your book stories as much as many others, I still understand why you want to do your own thing. The Wings of Fire community can be quite harsh and toxic towards many of our communities' artists. Though, I am happy you're pursuing your own dreams and imagination, I just hope you find happiness in leaving the Wings of Fire community, I really do get why you left as the Wings of Fire community it is quite small and does not get a lot of attention, I too do not agree with some of the content in the book series and am quite frustrated in the way the series spiraled downward into an unenjoyable series. I'm happy for you, and of course I will stay with you to the bitter end. You inspired me to try harder and pursue my dreams and ideas. Yes,Yes i know this comment is 3 weeks late but i would like to add by saying my experience with Wings of Fire and Fandoms/The Art community in general....and why i left those fandoms
I used to Only draw cats and wolves (because cats and wolves were very popular when i went back to doing art almost everyday) i wanted to draw something that was already way too overrated and already had several Web series of (Like The Stolen Hope,WhiteFall,etc) one of the main reasond why i dipped my fingers into Warrior cats and WoF was because of how popular they were and still how they very much are popular even now
I recently stepped away from every Fandom in existence becaues of the backlash and drama of being in all those fandoms and wanted to not get envolved with any of it,especially by chance
I wanted to Focus on my own Stories,Characters and Whatever makes *me* happy not what the audience wanted or what was popular and would get me tons of views,i regretted wasting my life away with that dream of mine by just rubbing off a fandoms popularity
I do Fully Agree with you're decision SleepingGemstone and i am sorry that people took the video the wrong way because you didn't fix it fast enough with a comment saying "Disclaimer,etc"
I have seen the darksides of fandoms and the art community to where i was stuck in some of its drama as well by accident or by saying my piece or siding with said side

Yeah, so many of the fandoms are filled with controversy and drama. Which I personally found entertaining when I joined the fandoms (I’m weird like that). Then it just too far too many times. Ppl pushing other out of the community because they did one wrong thing, not accepting any apologies, making drama known to everyone, everyone has to pick sides. It’s just not a fun time. There were fun times, but those times were rarely within the fandom. The fandoms just weren’t fun anymore if you get what u means

To be honest I have found myself falling away from WOF as well, the story I feel like is getting worse and the toxicity of the fandom I have seen time and time again so I completely understand! As for what your doing now I am really exited for! ever sence your first story video I've REALLY REALLY wanted to know more! I love your writing style and it has influenced me as a writer to! I have also grown out of my Wof phase tremendously. And to ayone who feels the same who may be looking for a book like Wof aimed for an older aucidence, I recomend age of fire by e e knight. It's a well written bitter sweet story about dragons.

As someone who has also left the WOF community due to religious differences and has grown from it, you will grow 100%! Leaning off of something that has helped you grow is NOT easy, but I am very proud of you for making this video and being open to why you are leaving. @@Sqndcrafts_13 well, since the books series included that abomination about acting on love between the same genders, I left completely not only stopped reading the books series but also the WoF community, so I would say yes since the way I see it it’s like we’re betraying God by being in a community that everyone knows that there are same-gender love and yet still are interested in it and take pleasure in reading the books still even though it includes stuff not pleasing to God

@@Sqndcrafts_13 From what I've heard, homophobes mistranslated the phrase "A man shouldn't sleep with a boy" (something like that. But it calls out child-touchers being terrible, and that boys can suffer from it too) to men not being able to do it :/ and there are tons of Christians that are LGBTQ+ (I'm apart of the community myself, but atheist [don't shove it down people's throats, barely ever talk about my beliefs])

I’m working on my own series to! Sadly I can’t write but I do have it set aside in my mind
Same I have some ideas of lots of things in my mind of other stories I’ve made but I just can’t write them and sometimes I’ll draw pictures of the characters and scenes but other than that It’s just sitting in the corner of my mind

I do understand your decision. I really only do WOF content for the art side of it as well. Wings of Fire is an ok book series, but the dragons, designs and art are the only reasons I chose this particular community. I just want you to know that I subscribed to you because you are such an inspiration. I love the way you put so much thought into you pieces. I cannot wait to see what unfolds in your future and to see what God has in store ❤

i'm really glad you're doing this. ik that sounds weird, but your interests and health should always come first, and it takes a lot of courage to do what you are doing. i'm also really glad the hybrid and redesign challenges will still be completed lol; your takes on WoF designs are just soooo amazing! i agree with you about not wanting to support the series. i am also Christian, so i buy the books secondhand. i mostly just read them because i like the world of WoF, not necessarily the stories
i do just have one question:
the thing about the ships, is your issue with them being in the books, or the fact that some people ship those ships? cuz only Ripnami out of those is kind of canon, although they haven't had much development since Tsunami is no longer a POV character and she is a teacher at Jade Mountain now (although they have sent letters back and forth? i think?) i don't consider Cleril a ship personally, since it is literally just Peril crushing on Clay. just my opinions tho
anyway, i am VERY excited about more content from your book! i am also writing a fantasy series/working on art for it (and also WoF fanart), and you are probably my biggest inspiration! so keep true to you, what matters is that you are enjoying yourself!

This! I love this and fully support you in your decision. I also left the Wings of Fire community, mainly for the reason of personal beliefs over things in the series, but also because I didn't feel like it was for me.
I do Warrior Cats content... But I don't consider myself part of the fandom. Which probably doesn't make sense but it does to me. I've found fandoms to be messy and really just sources of drama... People like to fight over things that have nothing to do with the books. And in the last year I've been trying to veer away from Warriors content ro start doing content on my own series as well as other series and art-related subjects that I enjoy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that fandoms are kinda toxic and am happy you're making this decision. And honestly? I think you can post Wings of Fire content from time to time and not actually be in the fandom. I see a difference between bwing a content creator for a series and being in the fandom for the series.
I know I'm not supposed to be commenting on here (because I quit), but I completely understand you. I'm planning on leaving the WoF fandom because I'm starting to loose interest. For most my old WoF OCs, I'll probably sell them/give them away, make them Anthro, or make them non-WoF. Just know that I like and watch every single one of your videos, and I'll be supporting you no matter what. No matter how many fandoms you go through, I'll be waving to you through the window, supporting you every step. I love your art, and everything else about you. It’s sad to see you leave but it’s completely understandable, I am still going to stick around though as it was one of your pmv’s that brought me to your channel along with your absolutely beautiful art style. I also completely agree with the points you make about the series as while the series brought me back into the Fantasy genre, it’s hard to ignore the the inconsistencies/plotholes/toxic things/etc. and I’ve also put distance between myself and the fandom as well, not just with this one, but with others as well. I’ll usually watch videos, mostly art, about the series but only really things I can enjoy. Srry about the rant btw, but I’m glad to see you putting yourself first and I can’t wait to see what you post next!

i totally understand you. i’ve realized that when i chose to stop participating in the wings of fire community it may have been because of the same reasons as you. i wanted to focus more on the art i love and the books were not all that great. i knew eventually that i would stop obsessing over the series, and clearly i did lol. i can’t wait to see more of your book art, i’m ashamed to say i haven’t watched the videos about it 😭 i’m going to go watch them right now and see if i can learn about it!!

I think you made a lot of very good points and I’m glad you are able to speak up about it. I feel it is very difficult to be a part of a community without people assuming your agree with everything in it. I personally have a lot of issues with many of the communities I am a part of but I consider myself in them still because I love certain aspects of it. I hope to see more of your content regardless of what it is. (Personally I found your channel interesting because of the beautiful art you make so I’m excited to see you break out of the Wof shell and make other stuff!)

Hey, I'm actually really interested in hearing your criticism on WoF 👀 I've only heard a few things, like the monarchy system being misandrist, but I'd love to hear how you think it displays war in a way that isn't realistic. I admittedly haven't read very far, but I'd also be very sad if they did teach that there are only good guys and bad guys because that's a mindset I've been trying to overcome for years. I feel like, with the quote from Moonwatcher I've seen on her wiki about Darkstalker and how nobody is completely evil, the series is going to veer in a direction where redemption is a common theme and I'd love that, hell what if Darkstalker gets redeemed (I've had some spoilers but there's still so much idk haha)--I'd love to see a good representation of redemption and I'd even more love to see it paralleled with a character who was given so many chances it became enabling and the character is at that point not worth the effort of redemption. I believe nobody is ever too far gone, though, so what if the fact everyone stops supporting that villain is what makes them hit rock bottom and realize they're in the wrong? I love a good story about someone actually putting in effort to be a good person. God, now I have more ideas for my upcoming WoF fic lol

WoF (especially in the first arc) is really focused on only bad guys and good guys. Like blister and burn are completely evil. Scarlet is completely evil, and even morrowseer. These are some of the main villains and they just, don’t have a good side at all. It gets better with Darkstalker but he as well is just shown as a bad guy. Like, he used to be good but now he isn’t good at all. Same with Albatross. I think the author tried to make them look like they had a good side, however their good side is just their past. They no longer have a good side.
Another thing that really bothers me about the war stuff, is that the dragonets of destiny saw so much battle, Tsunami even k*lled someone! And that someone was her father!! However, despite all this, they had no trauma or anything. Tsunamis actions were never brought up again outside book two. And from everything the dragonets saw, it doesn’t affect their lives in any way. War does affect people, it affects people in horrible ways! But in WoF it doesn’t. I think that with such a heavy topic like war, it should give some insight into the ways it really impacts lives

I loved Wings of Fire and it led me to become a book wyrm (spelling intended heh) but I've started not caring about it as much because I'm now into other stories and making my own. My prioritized story is based on characters that I made on the WoF Roblox roleplay game, and it's been fun creating it especially because it is my own story and not a fanfic anymore. (And the dragons are no longer dragons but a new species I'm creating!)
