- The OPPO A58 at $299AUD is an extremely affordable Android phone, but is it any good? I try it out for a week and I am very impressed with the package, it is actually a very useable phone for very little outlay!

I got this phone for my dad. It was $259 at jb hifi and for the price is pretty good! Bright screen, really nice colours, simple mode for the oldies, and surprisingly an OK camera. My only gripe with oppo is their UI. Still not my favourite UI. I find it hard to get around in the settings. My dad doesn't do much except watch you tube and make calls and the A58 does all that. I thought it was quite smooth when i used it.
Appreciate the fast charger in the box and the screen protector already on the screen.
For a no fuss phone this is pretty perfect, but if you want a better UI, go with a Samsung. Even a mid range.
Oh it did have a bunch of bloat ware when I first set it up. A whole bunch of games that I deleted. Annoying
Glad your dad likes it. I’m currently using the S24 Ultra and I hate to say it, but I prefer OPPO’s Android skin. Maybe it’s because you aren’t used to OPPO’s skin that you find it a little confusing?
@DavisFangTech I'm a samsung user for a long time now and I'm just to it. I just find the oppo ui limiting at times and not user friendly. But I had an oppo a long time ago and the ui has come along way!!
You're one of the only few reviewers for this phone and this review is not long but detailed and I really appreciate that! I have the a53s and it's time for it to be replaced but I was worried about the quality of its successors. I'm hacked over the vibration issue but so far it looks like a great upgrade from what I'm coming from. I'm glad you mentioned the screen because I love to view content and listen to music so I care about those details a lot. Great review!

My mum got me this phone by January this year, and I love it. My friends think it's an iPhone actually but it's as cool as an iPhone ❤
I'm on my 4th Oppo now, and when I describe it to people, I call it an Android that feels like an Apple, but 1/4 the price.

My S10 died last night so I am in a rush for a replacement. Checked this out in person and am pleasantly surprised it has an IPS screen. As a PC gamer, I see this as an absolute win.
I wanted to go the extra mile and get something with a higher refresh rate while still having at least an at least a 1080p display but it seems to be out of my budget.
This is a great budget choice!

Haven’t played Roblox unfortunately, but in day to day use, the phone is fairly smooth. Gaming performance for intensive games isn’t the best though

I love Oppo phones. I've have mine for 5 years and it's still running strong!! No issues whatsoever.
I had mine for 6 years. I am planning on buying another oppo unit this month
My S23 Ultra is in for repair, so I bought this fone that's 3 months old for about 160 aud. It's obviously not on par with the S23 Ultra, but it is very much usable. Fingerprint sensor is unnecessarily fast which is sometimes irritating,though you can set it to long press rather than light touch. I decided to not go with another Samsung and wanted to try something different and this fone isn't all that bad
While they’re not available on many markets anymore, I have been very impressed with the flagship OPPOs. While I haven’t tried the X6/7, the X5 was one of the best phones from that year
@@DavisFangTech our market we basically only get entey level smartphones, besides Samsung and Iphone. Think they slowly bringing in the devices but first wants to see how the market reacts. High end Oppo and One Plus we have to import. I was a Sony and LG user for years, but had to switch to Samsung due to the fact that we only get entry to mid level from other brands. 1st time im using an Oppo device and im not disappointed for how cheap the phone is and what you get. Total value for money if you not a spec heavy user like me, or have thousands for the flagships. Thanx for the reply by the way🙏🏻

The A series gets one software update and an additional year of security updates, which isn’t great, but is typical of budget Android phones. The new Reno Phones get three years of updates plus an additional year of security updates

I bought one today in brisbane Australia but there was no clear case in it , was there meant to be as the videos i have watched from overseas all have one ?
Did you get it from a carrier? Different versions of the phone might have different included accessories
Same here in Canberra. No Clear case, No screen protector, and no headset from JB HIFI
Can you make a video where you compare phones that are between 130-170 US dollars that have NFC, and give conclusion based on the phones and people's preference.
I can only make videos on phones that I either buy or a lent to me and unfortunately I don’t have the budget nor contacts to make such a video happen. But I do appreciate the suggestion!

I only tried asphalt of the three and while it is playable, it doesn’t run very smoothly. Asphalt 8 is okay though

As a long-term user, the one thing that kills these phones is the charge port. They start getting a bit loose after about a year of use, and at around 1.5 to 2 years, become unusable. The plug simply wont stay in it.
Sure, you could get it fixed, but then you're probably halfway there to getting a new one anyway. Everything else on the phone is still running tip-top.

I would probably look for an older flagship phone. Perhaps an OPPO X5 Pro? (Assuming this is Australian dollars too)
About the correction of "color". Don't be picky. It's perfectly fine, it's American English. British English, "colour". Like "centre"/"center", "theatre"/"theater"... About the phone, it's good to be used as a second phone.

Oppo build quality is definitely up there with Samsung, but the software support isn’t as good
