How can someone delude themselves into free soloing with footwork THAT sus
I too like to free solo with a rope and harness
if nobody is holding the rope and it's not going to catch you...is it really there? Basically what I'm saying is dude was so stupid it didn't matter he had a rope hooked up.
For those wondering this guys not dead, miraculously he was able to walk away from this though he should never free solo again
I don't think anyone thought he died that really wasn't that far of a fall.
It was maybe 40-50ft tops
And half of that was sliding down a rock face. Don't get me wrong it's obviously a pretty gnarly fall but you'll most likely only die from that height from hitting your head.
@@StrengthScholar0 I don't think the height of the fall was the issue here, on that last frame he looks like he was heading straight for that rocky edge. If he were to hit his back or head on it, it could easily lead to a permanent disability or even death.

That's why I mentioned that he would only die from hitting his head in my comment. I'm not saying that it's not a bad fall but to call him surviving miraculous seems a bit hyperbolic.

The guy broke the number one rule of free soloing. Don't fall.
@@JustinWallace Why did he use ropes?
Technically he wasn't actually using the ropes, hence why he hit the ground when he slipped. My guess is that the rope was there because the group he was with was climbing that same climb but with the safety of the rope. Sometimes it can be a process to set up a rope so they probably just didn't feel like taking it down for him.
@@JustinWallace The guy videoing was probably on it i'm assuming too
@@stardust5987 the video on vimeo says that the top rope was there because he had set up the TR for some other climbers and afterward decided to free solo the same route.
