Unfortunately, I wasn't into the little details when I was in, so I don't know on the barrel. It took me a while to figure out what the light was called when I started looking, and it was far harder to find than expected. I need to find a PEQ-2 now. Prices are hard to get over, though.
@@HistoryinFirearms I'm not sure my comments are coming through... (I can't see my response) so please forgive me if this is the 3rd or 4th response you've gotten from me lol: I understand. Thank you for responding. I saw a VLI sell for about $30 several months ago! Lol. There is an AN/PEQ-2A for sale on EBay right now with "Make an Offer" available. Maybe try negotiating with the seller!
@jonathanwestlake5527 This is the only response I've seen 😊 Sounds like a good deal on the VLI. It's funny how outdated and dim that light is compared to modern lights. There are actually a PEQs on there now. Looks like price may have come down slightly. 🤔
@@HistoryinFirearms Ok good! Yeah I was too late to buy that VLI. It is laughable! The PEQ-2 I was referring to unfortunately sold last night... but definitely keep your eye out - have seen some decent to good condition ones sell in the $800s.
The rails are not easy to find now days. The removable carry handle was the distinguishing feature of the A4 and not all had the rails, as noted by @khanclansith
@HistoryinFirearms boy, you ain't joking. I even called up knights the other day, and they told me some contractor bubbas something or another is buying up all of them. Their lines can't keep up, so we citizens suffer and have to pay ransom level amounts of money to get them if you get lucky enough to go on their website and see they are in stock. They said they haven't discontinued them, so that's good. Idk who's buying them all up, I can't imagine it's our military, so it's gotta be someone else.
I was out before the A4. Thanx for demonstrating a close facsimile of it for instructional purposes only. Semper Fi.
You're welcome, Semper Fi!
I've wanted an ACOG for a long time. I used to work at a factory right around the corner from Trijicon.
It's a good optic for intermediate distances. I'd do an LPVO over an ACOG though.
What factory? I lived around there too! Ton of defense stuff in that area
I like this style of video, reminds me of old documentaries/instructionala
Exactly what I was going for 👍
Crazy cool that you got a VLI! Do you remember if your issued A4 had an "FNMI" or CAGE code marked barrel just forward of the FSB?

@@jonathanwestlake5527 8 might be acceptable at this point, thanks!
Thanks
You are welcome.
Here we go! I have this rifle except its A3 varient furniture. Can't find any RAS rails, which is very frustrating.
The M16A4 I was assigned in Division HHBN had the removable sight and carry handle and A2 forestocks

@@Khanclansith you mean the round ones? I thought the A4 designation meant they had to have those RAS hand guards

GunBroker should have some RAS rails.
