If you want to watch the movies, watch Dragon Ball movies (1-6), Z(1-13), history of trunks special, and bardock father of Goku. Movies 13-14 are set after Buu saga, so you can watch without being spoiled. I would avoid the rest until you finished the Super anime.
I recommend (if you havent seen it yet) you watch the super saiyan and super saiyan 2 transformation in the anime. I believe those scenes elevate the manga material and are far better in the anime.
Btw if you are planning to read the dragon ball super manga, the manga is totally different then the anime because the manga came out after the anime and the written by different people and has a good amount of differences compared to the anime

The movie Dragon Ball: Battle of Gods is canon and is the first canon movie taking place a few years after Buu was defeated. It’s awesome and I reccomend you start there. The only canon movies are The History of Trunks, Battle of Gods, Ressurection F (honestly you can kind of skip this but its up to you), Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Just a few things to add,
1. To be more precise, BoG takes place 4 years after Kid Buu’ defeat
History of Trunks isn’t canon either, the events pan out differently from the manga and isn’t apart of the modern era movies which are canon
im pretty sure Battle of Gods and Ressurection F are already adapted into DBS but idk
Manga Battle of Gods is just a short recap and Resurrection F is completely skipped, he should watch those 2 movies before reading Super

they needed to fuse could buuhan was the strongest version of buu and they couldn't beat him on his own and they needed to free their friends or else gohan and the other people would've been killed inside of buu
Yes, the fusion was absolutely necessary because Super Buu was in a different league of power. Even SSJ3 Goku was scared.

Gotenks didnt really save anybody since buu already absorbed everyone else on the lookout sure buu would have absorbed piccolo goten and trunks but gohan would just show up so it wouldnt really make a diffrence

Just as a heads up all the dragon ball z movies are all non canon except for dragon ball z: battle of God's, dragon ball z: Resurrection F, dragon ball super: borly, and dragon ball super: super hero (yes that's the title of this movie)

I'm really surprised you actually were able to watch Dragon Ball without knowing anything about the story. Or maybe that's why Dragon Ball was always a part of my life, so I always got to know everything before I even watched it (which didn't ruin my experience at all, seeing that it's still my favorite anime and mangá)
I like the cell sage the most
During the Frieza Saga you really saw how powerful they really are, their battles broke the entire planet, something they never showed again making the other fights feel less tense. Story wise it shined from the Android to Cell Saga, which is also my favorite part of DBZ, especially SSJ2 Gohan.
You should watch GT, it was Toei's original sequel to DBZ, and despite the underwhelming first arc, it builds into this psychological horror esc arc after around episode 20, concluding with some really cool fights, and even a fusion between two Androids. Super Saiyan 4 is also the best transformation in the series.

If you plan on reading the Super Manga, you need someone who knows the material very well to tell you what to read or watch and in what order. Some of the movies (and episodes, which all have differences, though just the movies should suffice for you) that are either skimmed over or entirely skipped in the manga, but the info is important and something the manga assumes you know about by the point that it canonically happens

Fusion is very important in dragon ball super broly movie. I cant recommend the movie enough. I think it’s way better than the anime in so many ways, animation quality being one of them. The movie looks so fricking good.

Make sure you watch the movies “battle of gods” and “resurrection f” before reading super or else you’ll be really confused. I’d personally recommend watching battle of gods even if you don’t plan on reading super any time soon since it’s pretty good.

I would recommend reading dbs in February or may since vol 22 is out in jan 16th and vol 23 is like 22nd of April

Day 5 of waiting for bleach
If you are planning on watching the dragon ball movies, almost all of them are not cannon but they're pretty good. The only cannon movies are Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, Dragon Ball Super Broly, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. There is a recap of Battle of Gods at the start of the Dragon Ball Super manga, but there isn't for Resurrection F or Dragon Ball Super Broly, so I would recommend that you watch Battle of Gods and Resurrection F after chapter 4, then I would watch Dragon Ball Super Broly right after the Tournament of Power arc. And the Dragon Ball Super manga has been on hiatus during the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc since Akira Toriyama's passing, so I would wait until the arc finishes before you watch Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Day 25 of asking teniz to read all of blue lock in a week
A little tip for the movies, except battle of gods, ressurection f, Dragonball SUPER Broly and superhero, pretty much every movie is before super, so as long as the movie released like pre 2010 you should be good
YOU CAN WATCH THE 2 DBZ MOVIES. Battle or Gods and Resurrection F are the first 2 arcs in Super. In the animes they retell and reanimate them but in the manga they kinda skip over it. Also the anime and the mange for super are very different at some aspects, some good some bad. I’d say read the manga all the way up till the Tournament of Power, anime for that arc is peak. Then read the final 3 arcs as they haven’t been animated yet.
the movie your talking about is dragon ball super broly, its definitely a must watch, but watch the other movies first, the old movies may be non cannon but are great flicks
Watch/read order for Dragon Ball Super in my opinion:
Battle of Gods Movie(mostly canon)
RoF Movie(mostly canon)
Dbs manga up to chapter 43
Broly Movie(canon)
Rest of the manga and after that you can watch the Super Hero movie(manga has actual full version of it)
There is also anime but I think its optional, if you want a different and more messy version of the story(most of the anime version actually came out before the manga, not counting first few chapters)
I was there for the ride, Super was fun and the manga will probably return soon lol

Hello I’m your fan I have a question do you have the manga called Yu Yu Hakusho
without getting spoiled on DBS, you can watch battle of gods and then resurrection F, which cover the first 2 arcs of DBS very concisely. DBS Superhero takes place after super, so I would read super before watching that movie.

Totally agree on your rankings it’s the same as mine lmao. But it seemed weird that you thought they didn’t need to add the buu saga.
I thought it it was a great introduction to Gohan grown up, and also the development of Goku and especially vegetas character.
Don’t forget in the end of the cell arc, vegeta was left in shock after Goku died, he never got the opportunity to test himself against him. So the buu arc gave him so much development as a character.
Also it gave Goku the opprountiny to realize that the new gen need more time to be left by themselves. This arc showed that, as Goku believed gotenks codulve beat buu and he could’ve, but they are kids, and with that comes childish.
Gohans lack of training during the 7 years was what caused him to be overcome with confidence as he didn’t get to train mentally to overcome those obstacles.
I still think it’s at the bottom of my list personally but it’s still a great arc. It’s hard to compare it to the other ones

@@deckzone3000 well the cell saga explained that when “sayains” achieve a higher level of power through transformation it’s in their dna, that their emotions overcome them. The power gets into their head.
When Gohan transformed into Ultimate, he was told to go ssj in order to achieve it.
Since he didn’t trading like Goku or vegeta he wasn’t able to overcome this type of mental bridge like how Goku or vegeta did with ssj
Just play sparking zero and stop when you finish the Buu saga. Then do the same for all the other characters stories. Or play dbz kakarot. Is a simpler version of the sparking zero combat with rpg elements and the art style is 10/10.

For the movies and Super, Battle of Gods and Resurrection "F" are canon movies before you read the Super manga. Speaking of Super, the anime and manga are different since both are made with Toriyama's notes and it's up to the writers to handle said notes. In short, the common elements to both are what counts as canon. The Super manga too has some stuff that directly ties-in to the movies, might as well watch the anime first then read the manga later for comparison purposes.
I do recommend starting off watching the battle of the gods movie then resurrection first since those movies are direct continuations to DBZ and the dragon ball super anime and manga kinda just redo the movies as their first two arc.
Feel free to watch all the old DBZ movies since all of them are non cannon and not all of them are that good apparently (idk i haven't watched all of them)
After the first two movies i mentioned i do recommend going through super before watching the rest of the modern movies(browly and superhero).
TLDR follow the release order of things.
Yup Gohan - Piccolo dynamic is really good, and who'd have thought Gohan would be the clincher in the cell saga really what shonen manga even today dont let the MC win.
And yeah Vegeta's character development is really second to none in shonen manga imo.
As for the movies you can watch 2 of them right now. Both Dragon ball Z movie 13 and 14, they are canon written by Toriyama unlike movies 1-12. And they pick up right after the DBZ manga you just read, after that you can read Dragon Ball Super. About Super though beware cuz Toriyama is involved in writing it but hes not drawing it. Its a new artist named Toyotaro and at the first volumes his art paneling wise is a far cry from Toriyama

If Gotenks wasn't there they would've died sooner. If Vegito wasn't there the same would also happen but also their friends who were all absorbed by Buu wouldn't be saved if vegito wasn't powerful enough to not be fully absorbed by buu. It also showcase their willingness to work as a team which is important for the saga & the series even now. For the movies R u watchin them all or only the canon ones cus the canon ones R for super & follow up the series while the rest R non-canon. The canon ones R "DBZ movie 13: Battle of Gods", "DBZ movie 14: Resurrection F", "DBS: Broly", & "DBS: SUPER HERO". In THAT order. There's also Daima which is a new series that's after the og series but before Super.

little thing with the buu arc you seem confused on why fusion and vegito specifically was needed its pretty simple super buu is stronger than kid buu that's why they were able to fight kid buu without fusion the only thing that made kid buu more dangerous was he ran purely on instinct and would just destroy the planet unlike super buu who wanted the fight but super buu was stronger than kid buu especially when he had gotenks and gohan absorbed so basically super buu is stronger than goku and vegeta but with fusion which doesn't add but multiplies powers together vegito was able to overpower super buu who had gohans power absorbed and gohan's ultimate form is even stronger than super saiyan 3 so even if goku and vegeta went all out without fusion they woulda gotten wiped by super buu after vegito enters buu they set free the absorbed people meaning he lost all the power he got from them so kid buu is significantly weaker gohan in his ultimate form could have beaten kid buu if he was able to fight at that time also goku wasn't even able to beat kid buu in super saiyan 3 he was just holding him off what defeated kid buu was the spirit bomb which had the advantage of being a technique that can gather energy from everything and everyone around rather than just using the users power so ya fusion was absolutely necessary to fight super buu once gohan was out of the fight so ya you should probably make sure you pay attention before saying something that’s just flat out stupid like fusion wasn't necessary cause goku and vegeta even fighting together against super buu couldn't do anything
