See, this is why I like your talks. You just seem a lot more relaxed and you seem like you're passionate about Flutter instead of reading off a script like a robot. Please never lose this format! :)
More than anything, this is what I love about Flutter. The barrier between design and dev is minimized. Thank you, Filip, for lowering that barrier even further with these definitions and visual examples! We need more unicorns... 🦄
I just appreciate how Filip takes on any challenges to make Flutter ecosystem the best. Technical Flutter internals? Got it. Usage of developer tools and deployment pipelines? Okaay. Best DX practices? You have it! Making designs prettier? Here you go! 👏 "The only skill you need to master is how to learn things" (c)
At started, I was about to eat breakfast and just listen to the video, but now I have watched the whole video and dive into the related links in the description (be sure to check that) , the talk is so relaxed that I just sit there watching without thinking how to learn something functional widget to build my app for my graduated project. Now I come to realize the perceived value, this video definitely is perceived value of Flutter.
A useful short video that was interesting and enjoyable to watch. One omission - please do encourage designer developers to think about accessibility when considering colours, letter/line spacing, etc.
Great video. As a backend developer working on a side project for my wife's business using Flutter this is incredibly valuable. Thanks and keep up the great work. Loving Flutter and Dart.
Thanks! I just want to say that reading a comment like this is really motivating. I know it can sometimes feel redundant to give praise to someone, but... it's not. Most speakers feel pretty bad about their talks, because all they see is the mistakes and the missed opportunities. Reading someone's comment that it was actually good makes a world of difference. Thank you.
Awesome explanation! A must see for every UI developer. For staggered animations developers might also look at packages (i.e. simple_animations with it's TimelineTween) that adds an additional layer of abstraction, if they aren't that comfortable with plain intervals.
I always say "Flutter is different from other crossplatforms and development environments". Its approach is humanistic. This is the first time I felt love with a technology in my career. I ♥♥♥ Flutter. Thanks!
Great value Filip. We just been through the part for centralizing the colors and typography in every text, icon and the places that had Color.green throughout the app. I don’t know how many variables we touched 💩. Just wanted to say thank you for this awesome video 💪
You are very welcome, Pragna 😊 Don't forget to take a look at the video description for more on the basics of good app design and to check out our Flutter Engage playlist, here → goo.gle/FlutterEngageYT
Very interesting. Thank you very much. Do you have any good references to start the study of design in a more holistic way (colors, perception, psychology, etc.) ? Thanks again :)
That's Making Things Work, a book I'm trying to read about system dynamics. To be honest, I'm not sure I'd recommend it so far. I enjoyed Thinking in Systems by Donella Meadows a lot more.
hi sir I'm flutter developer I want to give a suggestion to flutter team ,basically I'm freelancer so wok on different project on daily basis the problem I always face is difference between flutter version I'm using and the flutter version in which the project is developed so there is no way to know in which version of flutter that project is developed what I want flutter team to add feature that every time flutter run it run flutter doctor and save the Environment imformation within project by creating a file
The problem of designer-developer is that, you have to follow whatever the client tells you. If your design looks great but you didn't follow what your client tells you, it's pointless, but its never too late to question what your client wants to do with you. Just be honest if the design sucks or it doesn't align to what users want.
You probably mean the early onset jank issue (github.com/flutter/flutter/projects/188). I've of course tested the app in the video on iOS and there's no jank. That doesn't mean the issue isn't real, of course, but it isn't as widespread as it may sometimes seem. If you see the issue in your app, please do file a bug.
@@tomkulaga4005 In the case of this app (and some other, larger apps I'm working on), it just works. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Again, not trying to minimize the issue. It's bad. But not ubiquitous.
Why are we still talking about colorSwatch when the material.io is promoting ColorScheme ? Devs when won’t migrate their design to using colorScheme if we don’t promote it 😔
Flutter is not easy to be installed in pc , lot of things , sdk , emulator and more , than using flutter doctor still can't detect the path location , ouff , wish it was easy. Like xamarin and python

Thank you!

The starting example of this talk is soooo good.
These videos are always extremely informative and make me a better developer every time I follow the advices.
Thank you for this video. Waiting eagerly for more of these.

As a photographer&designer who is learning to develop, I agree with your points!
Please keep educating, you are born to it!
Thank you for a great introduction on how to apply basic design principles for developers
I don't even code or design but I still learned a lot in this video!!
Thanks to Filip for presenting the same in such a beautiful way, I'm off to creating that satisfying door slam 👂.
