Final Doom Remix - Legion of the Lost (Tribute to Ty Halderman)

So I already did a remix of this song a couple of years ago, but given the recent events, I thought it was worth having another go (I think it could've been done better last time anyway).
Ty Halderman is a name that every Doomer should have heard of. The main man of TeamTNT, his body of work encompasses Final Doom, Icarus: Alien Vanguard (and also Daedalus), Eternal Doom (managerial role), the Boom engine, and all those TNT deathmatch WADs.
In addition to this, in 1998, he assumed the position of maintainer of the idgames archive, which he did alone with little break until 2015, when complications due to a brain tumour hospitalised him. He passed away on July 31.
Following the news, members of Doomworld have started to organise a mapping session, lasting the whole of the month of September, to create a boom-compatible tribute megawad (presumably for the TNT IWAD).
As I all too often say, I can't map to save my life, so I decided on remixing TNT's most well known piece of music, which happens to also be the most fitting for such a theme.
I'd like to think other musicians will follow suit. Doomhuntress got one in before me, and it was a pretty interesting take, turning it into a faster, sort of more upbeat rendition. It'd be cool to see what else people could come up with for this piece.
For the video, it first looks like these images have nothing to do with Ty's contribution to the community, but they are in fact representations of his maps and other stuff he was involved with.
i.e, TNT MAP04: Wormhole, represented by a picture of a wormhole. (Yes, I know he didn't make Crater or Pharaoh, but the images were nice enough to warrant inclusion anyway, and how could I remix this song and not somehow reference Pharaoh? :D)

I never knew this man or what he stood for, but I do know he must've helped a lot within his community, and made a lot of people happy. Even though I'm 5 years late, R.I.P Ty Halderman.

6 years late ,and seconds that as i find the community with its mods like brutal doom ,brutality and mega wad maps glorious despite not able to play em anyone that single handedly held the fort for a community to know the archives be safe for that many years and inspiring this kind of tribute must done something right.

Ty is my grandfather. We never got a chance to meet. If anyone, especially family, knew him.. I’d love to hear what you have to say about him. I’ve been told I look much like him, but I’ve never seen a photograph. Years ago I found his email address. Wish I had reached out to him. I was really young then and didn’t know what to say.

I feel the same way about my dad, who died when I was 7. I hope you find someone to tell you amazing stories about him. It's normally a really good time and really helps to fill in the gaps.
I think I had an argument with him once after I unfairly trashed Project Icarus or something like that. Such a shame to hear of his loss, he was one of the cornerstones of the Doom community and I regret criticising his work, especially as it wasn't warranted.

There's a permanent gap in the community where Ty used to be. Thanks for making this Eris, great take on one of my favorite Doom tracks.

Undoubtly the best track ever made for a DOOM mod.
So, this was the best pick to pay a tribute to a guy who had a great influence on the DOOM modding community.

Hey man, so I found your channel through Led's Goblin Invasion remix for the TCF contest aaaand it turns out you're a Doomer. I used to post on Doomworld all the time as "The Lag." As soon as I saw your comment on his video I was like, "man, I know that name from somewhere..." Anyway, small world I guess. Really nice tune by the way...takes me back. I never did finish my megawad, haha.

Perhaps it is not a song meant to have lyrics. It is meant to take a step back and bask in peace and one's own internal thoughts and processes.

Ty actually told about the choice he made in a post on a website. I was shocked that he did. Imagine how I felt. That is how I found out. I read it. Because he left, I was put up for adoption and then moved from home to home. You wouldn't believe things that happened in those homes to little girls. Then I was adopted and it was misery. By the time me and my parents finally worked things out in my adult age, they died. I finally met my birth mother and she died a year later of cancer. Ty also died of cancer. So that's scary for me. It has been hell but I do understand your side also. I have admired someone and later found out what type of person they really were. It just happened to me 2 years ago. It does hurt but morals matter more to me. I'll remove my posts and let the gaming and internet world (minus that website) believe that Ty was a stand up guy. Take care.
