- This is our Sunday bike ride we decided to go and climb Mt Coottha up the back way which is the hardest way to get up there on a road bike.
It's a good place for cyclist to train and get stronger on the hills, which is what i need to do.
I got some PB's on strava for this climb so it wasn't all for nothing in the end.
I made it a hard workout by going a bit to hard at the start of the climb, i should have paced it a bit better.
Wasn’t expecting to find anything when i searched ‘mt cootha climb’. I do that first 500 m bit that maxes out at about 10 percent and cant believe how it’s possible to go on after that:)
It's a horrible climb... There's just no let up... It's a great place to train though... I've got up to 3 laps so far
Which way is best to start this loop? This way or opposite way?
I think the opposite way is easier so probably best to start there. I did
That sure is a hard hill!
What the heck is wrong with your powermeter? You've put me off the Stages, I've got rotor dual sided on my main bike but I'm looking for a cheaper option for second bike, any suggestions?
Your cadence was between 50 and 70 for most of the climb. Surely that is way too low? Do your legs not get really fatigued at that cadence?
Yeah the cadence was low, but i guess when your done your done.
If I grind up a long climb my legs just burn like hell and I'm slowing in the final section. Spin to win!
are you still using zwift whilst on the trainer?
Yes all my indoor sessions are on Zwift
That road looks buttery smooth!!
They have upgraded parts of it
I would love to climb something like that to see where my fitness is. tried a couple of the big climbs on zwift but it's not the same as outdoors.
The real thing is better, but zwift can be pretty hard too on the hills, you have to work more to speed and increase your power to match the speed, unless you have a smart trainer.
I've added you to my zwift. Feel free to fallow me..
What power meter do you use?
Stages
