It’s looking achingly beautiful. Bravo guys. Happy to see some dramatic hills in the foreground of some of those map views, really helps emphasise the depth and varied beauty of the space
The game does look aesthetically very pleasing. The proper scale of everything helps immersion very much. I wonder if the map size affects performance here. What's the biggest map in ara?
it seems to perform better than humankind in my experience. If i remember correctly it also has a larger maximum empire count too. but the thing that is a trip is how much more lifelike the wild is, compared to what seems like animations in humankind. Aethetically though humankind looks prettier. But our real world looks uglier than ara. Ara has the best timing for moving the turn forward I feel too. These optimizations are noticed. However, on this type of game with Warhammer 3 being so unoptimized. (but is arguably better looking) Will go unoticed not many people outside the competitive gaming typically say wow this game runs at 120fps on a 3060. (Not suggesting that this game runs 120 on a 3060 I don't have that experience. I have a 3080 and this game seems to run smoother than humankind.) I only experienced normal map size, as the map wasn't randomly generated. that was about the same size as one size larger in humankind than normal.
@@TheGoreforce I haven't played humankind, but the fact that there's a higher max civ count in ara got me excited. I don't know if I'd like the part about the maps not being randomly generated tho.
The fact that they actually developed their own engine for games like ARA... Gives me more hope for this game (its like an old game, MADE WITH LOVE FROM THE BEGGINING AND NOT AN unreal engine copy paste XD)
The section about developing the API in collaboration made me think about Linux compatibility. I've recently switched to Linux, but fear I won't be able to run this amazing game on my system.
Team working on this game looks really solid. Hopefully not just the graphics but the game itself will be great. I don’t care if it will be a Civ copycat. Who cares if it will be way better than Civ.
Graphically, the game looks great, but I am a little concerned about map generation. All game footage I've seen so far seems to have large amorphous landmasses, akin to a Pangaea map from Civ. I'd like to see better map gen in the future with more peninsulas, isthmuses, and fewer chunky blocks of land.
this guy just bought me into trying this game. Been playing civ since the DOS version, but the franchise just became stagnant below the graphical improvements and nice neww features. Sorry Sid, din´t like the mtx disguised as DLC in C6.Preordering ARA now!
Their new features in civ 7 are mainly reviewing and taking back their own bad decisions like stupid unit moving each turn for couple of hexes, scaling district costs, stupid city states etc

Definitive, Sid's watching... now we have the future on 4x... tks

oo i hope for truly massive map sizes, im odd like that XD

the random will be in the next alpha, they wanted one seed for testing.@@frankartanis1290
@@frankartanis1290one thing I’m hoping for is for an earth map with true starting locations. Something similar to civ 5 and 6.
love these nitty gritty technical details. Makes me more confident in the game than ever.

SO HYPED FOR THIS!!!
Awesome video. I love the knowledge and history.
I hope the game would be as moddable as Civ IV at least🤞
Isnt civ5 more moddable
@Piesolesy Civ V seems to lack the number of notable total conversion mods such as Civ IV's Fall from Heaven...
I wish there was a day night cycle like civ 6, it would give such a boost to the atmosphere

I need it!!!

this guy is basically touting the PS4 generation marketing material for whyy we want to upgrade from our 200 series cards. lol

Do you plan to implement asynchronous multiplayer like PBC (play by cloud)? It will be great!
Is it possible to make a spherical globe world in your engine? (wink wink)

No Xbox, no buy
