I wish the "secret"/alternative ending would've been expanded into the full game, just slightly altered story but the same gameplay. I'd've loved to go crazy with uncle Min.
Yeah, when playing I just wished I could've worked with pagan min. Because sabal and amita are just the worse characters I ever team with in a game during the time.
@@atomic747 During the time? Are there worse now?
@@konradcurze394 I just mean my time playing far cry 4. Honestly don't remember much helpers in 5, can only remember boomer the dog and cheese burger who is a big ol bear and hurk jr who you know, been in 3 and 4.
I set up Amita's plan for the cash to rebuild and then shoot her at the end.
Agreed, they wouldn't even have had to do that much. Add a scene where Min explains you'll be infiltrating the Golden Path, then basically let the game play out normally before adding a new cutscene where you walk your chosen Golden Psychopath into Min's estate and spring a trap. You could even have a similar ending with Min where you work with him or take him out, becoming the new despotic ruler of Kyrat.
My biggest issue with 4 is that there's no continuation on the secret ending. After playing through the game and learning about the truth behind Pagan and the Golden Path, I really would have loved an alternate version of the story where you fight against the Golden Path on Pagan Min's side.
I had really hoped for it, too. A DLC like Blood Dragon where they had all of the resources already to build off of.
@@Canthag It would have been really cool, especially cause Pagan would need to have a more active role with him being your ally.
I suppose the game would be a bigger file size but honestly would've been worth the extra gb
@@CrosseyesYT absolutely
I mean they really didn't have enough time to go through with the entire idea due to its pretty short development
“There’s a line in Shakespeare about brevity being the soul of wit,” is hilariously ironic given Jirard could have just said the real quote: “brevity is the soul of wit”
Yes.
Wym
If Pagan Min showed up more in the story, they wouldve had to call him Pagan Max
Max Pagan dives through the window in slow motion.
Nice
I actually like the formula. I like to listen to podcasts or watch RUclips videos while clearing the map and just pay attention during the story missions and cutscenes
Dude same.
I love to use the picture in picture feature on Chrome to put up a funny video like Danny Gonzalez or drew gooden while I explore kyrat :P
I feel like far cry 2 never got enough love. The limited fast travel, gun decay/jamming and random outbursts of malaria attacks were part of it's charm imo, but ended up being the most complained about aspects. Not to mention the insane bushfire mechanics, and a map making/sharing tool on a freaking ps3/360, this thing was way ahead of it's time.
Sure the story was a bit forgettable, as iirc it was really just choose a random generic mercenary, make friends with other mercs and take down some generic fanatic militants, with a hint of betrayal at the end. But it was the feeling of desperation and otherness that really sold this game for me. Being revived by my 'buddy' after a brutal gunfight, only to have to go back because the buddy went down, then choosing between using your precious morphine on them or putting them out of their misery, only to learn that there's a chance that you overdose them with the morphine and lose them forever. Man I'll never forget those moments for as long as I live.
Trust me it gets more love then you know. It has a solid amount of die hard fans behind it. As someone who has played it to the point of getting a gun that won’t jam on me for at least five missions, it has problems. Those things you listed are both good and bad. The enemies are oppressive so casual gamers are not going to be ready for it. The malaria was more annoying then cool honestly at a certain point, and wasn’t needed to remind you how bad things are. If they lessened it after a few pills a good bit, then it wouldn’t be a bother, or should I say annoyance. The AI are wonderful. Not perfect, but the fact that guys will go out into gunfire just to drag a wounded enemy to safety is just amazing. I’ll never forget it honestly. The first time my gun burst was also insane. The last thing was as you mentioned with your mercenary friends is also great. Beyond that the gunplay is fine, but way outdated at this point. Yes it is an old game, but you can’t expect people to pick it up and enjoy it when they haven’t played it before. It has flaws. Massive ones. It takes patience to play this game. I’m a believer we need to slow down in life, but a lot of things nowadays just make that impossible for most of us as adults. So this game doesn’t have a lot of pay off for your time spent playing it in short intervals. The funny thing is that if you don’t play it in short intervals then the repetitiveness of guard outposts becomes extremely relevant. As great as a lot of things are in this game, it has aged poorly in certain areas. Also if you are not playing it on pc then it has the nasty muddy brown tint to it. The game deserves a remaster, but with some changes to it, and additions as well. The weather is amazing, and how it affects fire is just to good. It feels like you are in Africa. The problem is that at night it doesn’t look very good, and is just all to repetitive to the max on many levels before you get to the really good parts. It was outstanding at its time, but the guard outposts should have been seen as becoming a problem with the spawn rate even back then. If they fixed it then the game would instantly become so much better. I just got bored after a while of the game, and lost patience waiting for it to get to the better parts. It is good, but nostalgia/experience of this in the past makes it more bearable. I didn’t start it until two years ago. The game will never get the praise you want it to until you guys realize it doesn’t really deserve it as a whole. It deserves it for some parts to be known as amazing, but as to how it was put together, it is lacking a bit to much for such high praise. Love those things, but not the other things, and don’t want to deal with it just for the good parts. Again it is a good game, but some parts are great, but other parts keep those from making it great as a whole.
Far cry and ubisoft games in general are a great example of "Finish It" not "Complete It" because the side quests and collectibles really are a boring grind after a while
Even though AC Odyssey was way way too massive. I did just go across it entire map and fully explored every single landmark. I reached level 40 before I even did the second main quest of the game. I know people complained about the game's level need a lot of grinding but newer AC games really does complement the completionist playstyle. I can imagine the game being very tedious if you just wanted to play through quickly for the story.
Yep, Far Cry 3 collectibles are just stones in caves, boring bloated endless
@@goldmemberpb I actually 100% AC Odyssey. I still like the game and the completionist feeling of clearing all the points on the map but man it got tedious for me when I was just focusing on that stuff. It stopped being fun and I was just going through the motions while listening to podcasts
@@goldmemberpb that was my first platinum. Love odyssey.
@@smorgasbord26 Yeah, but since I have not played an AC game since syndicate back in 2015, I did not get fatigued just going from landmark after landmark, doing the same camp capture missions over and over. I wish the game was like 50x smaller. it would have been way more manageable. I loved the dlc though and how it answered so much of the lore. I also really like all of the mythical elements in the story.
OMG THE COMPLETIONIST NEEDS TO PLAY BUTTON CITY!!! THERE IS A 100% TROPHY THAT STATES GOING FULL BEARD MODE AND NODDING TO HIM!!!
I second this!!!!
Just looked it up. That game looks adorable.
I wonder if he might be interested in Ar Nosurge since the main villains goal is kid you not "achieving 100% completion" that theyd destroy the freaking world
Aaaaaaaaaaaaa someone like bot this comment please
Blood Dragon I feel is the best Far Cry because it's so short and compact. That and the lazer blasting dragons, the weapons and Michael Biehn.
facts bro. fav Far Cry so far. i’m not sure why it hasn’t gotten a remaster yet. the Duke Nukem cheesy lines were the best 😂
Sadly it's one of the games I didn't play, including New Dawn being the other spin off game I haven't tried out
Idk, i liked the game but i think its too short
@@anointilisque7768 it's a DLC standalone expansion. Can't expect it to be longer than Far Cry 3.
@@tonevaave Well, Ubisoft is remastering it but as of right now the only way to get it is by buying the season pass for FC6.
FPS gamer: “Who cares about good stories and characters? I just want to have fun shooting guys and stuff.”
Ubisoft fan: “I am still waiting for a new Prince of Persia game.”
No kidding. :/
@about you
Why? Just why?
I wish they'd make a new Rayman
Rayman fans:
"Join the club pal"
@@idanshoval6939 : Man, I remember Great Escape had some really good stuff in it. Rayman's quirky enough to stand out. They should do more with it.
I absolutely loved this game and Platinum'd it and 100% the in-game percentage. I honestly didn't have a problem in my journey doing so. I loved the notes and backstory told throughout, esp enjoyed the Serial Killer. The only issues I had is that I hated the multiplayer Trophies and Arena did suck.
As for Story wise, I loved it, def wanted more of it & it's characters but I'm happy enough with what I got.
Really want a Far Cry 2 review. Love that game to death.
I would lose my mind over an HD remaster.
Man this game was... kinda repetitive, kinda weak endings (except after replaying the game and finding out about shooting the helicopter at the end) and eh... it's there.
But man, the aesthetic? I effin' love it. The licensed songs used were also on spot. Easily my favorite thing about the game
@about you stfu bot
I found the game incredibly BORING!
I found the same thing with Far Cry 3, once I played it again I realized that it wasn't as good as I thought it was, I found that the second half of the game is really bad and really slow, so I'd say FarCry 5 is my favorite at the moment next to blood dragon.
Then you should really appreciate the non licensed cult music that they wrote and recorded for farcry 5... It really makes the game feel like a unique experience no matter how much people bitch about it. They went WAY out of their way toake the world feel real
That opening scene with the music and Pagan Min saying "we are gonna fuck shit up" never fails to put a smile on my face. I love pagan min so much, every scene with him is fun.
First, Far Cry 4 is an excellent example of ubisoft's unprecedented talent for world building and continuously engaging side content
Also, I know how unpopular and terrible this opinion is so please be civil
I love it to bro
"Engaging" is a questionable way to describe it
@@epicgamerzfail4575 You are wrong it is so hood
Good
Not gonna lie, I've always had a soft spot for this one. Farcry 4 was how I was introduced to the series, and, as someone with a strand of Nepalise heritage that ALSO was ultimately born and grew up in America, I've always felt a bit of an affinity for it. I know it's by no means perfect, and has some problems, but I still enjoy it for what it is.
I really didn’t like how the game played out with the golden path, you ended up with two really harsh options regress back to the old ways or become a narco state, that secret ending sounded even better, I would have loved wiping out the golden path with min telling me what to do 😅😅😅😅😅
The canon ending is the secret one.
The normal game is a "what if".🙃
Being from India, I was personally able to relate much to the setting, music, lore in general. Absolutely loved the Shangri-La sections. Visually, the game was awesome, I completed it to about 80% before even finishing the main story!!
Hey Jirard, you’re looking good. I hope you’re well. Thanks for another great review. Looking forward to the next one.
Crab rangoon is really more of an appetizer...
I feel Ahjay is too emotionally removed. Although him having recently lost his mother, that's understandable.
Jason is better to me, because we him go from normal college kid, to bloodlust kill happy warrior.
There's also a couple of your friends who respond negatively to Jason changing too which there isn't any of that for ahjay
This is the only part I didn't agree with Jirard. Jason is way more of a developed character, not only by letting us play through his changes, but by being able to see the human reactions of his friends as it happens.
I'd say the entirety of Far Cry 4 story is pretty meh. The script could've been so much better. None of the two main paths are good or enjoyable... If your 'meme' ending is better than any of the other endings, there is something wrong.
I couldn't agree more with these statements. Jason's character development was actually interesting to behold. Ajay was literally just the errand boy, with seemingly very little capacity to guide the story. Jason helped drove the story, Ajay merely was along for the ride.
I played Far Cry 4 when I was in Middle school and had tons of free time. So I ended up getting everything, even after I got the platinum. I got all chests, even one that you had to glitch your way into. Good times.
That secret ending is so cool! I didn't think to stay there and wait. That's awesome!
27:12 therapist: Jirard Min doesn’t exist, he can’t hurt you.
Jirard Min:
i really love the setting in far cry 4, really gives it the exotic feeling of the land, was really dissapointed with far cry 5 when i saw it was set on th US
Great video. FC 4 was the one that got me into the series and got me hooked. Loved everything about the game, except for a few instances where the NPC would out right drive a truck into me while trying to defend a post...still laugh about that today. It's hard to find a game where I can just relax and jam out in the car in game listening to the music on the radio. Overall the game was a work of art to me. Can't wait to see what you finish next!
Same it was my first farcry game and I loved it I can't wait for farcry 6 to come out. Farcry primal was my second so FC 6 is gonna be my third game in the series
Still wish there were an alternate playthrough where you help Pagan Min!
I never understand why people keep asking for this. Help pagan do what exactly? The dude is done and Ajay is the New King
The Golden Path are now irrelevant and have no purpose since Ajay is King now.
@@MistahJay7 help him defeat The Golden Path and have a professional army instead of a diminished band of rebels? It wouldn't be hard to change the story and switch character models or vehicles in the free roam world.
@@Duskwalker68 But why would you need to defeat the Golden path once Ajay is the new King? The Golden Path was created for the sole purpose of taking down Pagan Min. They have no purpose anymore. The Royal army and Royal guard are now Ajays too in the secret ending. The Golden Path would most likely no longer be hostile since there founder Mohan, Ajays Father who created the golden path is now the King of the Country. Peace would be a likely scenario now. In terms of the story in makes no sense for Ajay to start randomly destroying the golden path once Min has left Kyrat. I mean I guess you could if you want to be complete evil psycho dictator lol
@@MistahJay7 I mean if you want to believe that The Golden Path is purely benevolent sure. Both of their potential leaders are power hungry, have support among the population, are okay with killing people who oppose them or using morally wrong methods to succeed, while being totally willing to oust Ajay after he helps them; one literally tells you as much after you help her win. Not hard to make a scenario where they're enemies.
Are you going to try completing Streets of Rage 4 (or any of the series)? I picked up the DLC recently, and the game is a heck of a good time, but I can see the terrors of completing it.
These short little recaps are nice and all, but I was really hoping to see a complete playthrough of each game
One of my favorite clips ever is Troy Baker talking about when he interviewed for Pagan Min and they got interrupted by a PA and he just started adlibbing as the character.
Ubisoft open world games are fun to play through, and a nightmare to 100%
I still have my FC3 save file at platinum and 99% because one side quest said "fuck you" and deleted an item I had to collect
I would say the "Ubisoft" formula started with Assassin creed 2. All those map markers lol
This was one of my favorite critiques. Very well done.
The shangrila levels and wing suit part of the game is fantastic
This game should have had a fourth ending! hide the young girl, kill Amita and Sabal to take over Kyrat proper, oh well.
I actually wish the hidden ending would be cannon, then again it could be!
I know last horse to finish the race and all, but Jirard, Mr. Completionist. You are looking much healthier and I really hope that is true for mental health too. Much love!
Anyone know where I can watch some of his past streams that were removed from Twitch?
Hey Jirard! Thank you for the great content as always. Any chance we might see a review of Fire Emblem: Three Houses in the near future? It's been 2 years since it's release and the last Fire Emblem game you reviewed was the Blazing Blade over 4 years ago.
I want to see a baseball game with multiple Ubisoft properties crossing over.
Ubisoftball
Ezio is up to bat, Pagan Min pitching. Ooh, it's going deep into left field! A perfect catch by Aiden Pierce and that is an out!
Great analysis of what I think is a great and overlooked game! You didn't even touch on PVP multiplayer though, which was a super fun (and first?!) and welcome addition to the series. Maybe the servers are empty in 2021, but when this came out, multiplayer was SUPER fun!
It is always nice when my home country gets represented in a big game like far cry 4 or uncharted 2. I remember when Angryjoe recorded a demo of this game a while back and it actually contained a typo in the loading screen. It was supposed to say " One minute" but instead it said " one maneet" because one of the symbols were misplaced. I think that video is still up on youtube. So, anyone who's not incredibly rusty in Sanskrit than me can verify it.
Edit- Also noticed a typo with the " Kyrat border" around 7:25. the way it's written, it says "Kyareet bordayer".
its a bit funny that after I started completing far cry 3 you made a video about it and now that I am completing 4 you make a video about that one too :D
As a fan of the Farcry series (from 2 onward). I loved listening to your comparisons between three and four. And I eagerly await your video on five, as it's my personal favorite in the series.
5 was my first far cry and I loved it. I’ve played almost all of the far cry’s now.
I loved 5 and Primal. They are my favorites.
Far Cry games, and generally games that use the modern Ubisoft formula, are often a total blast to play yet always outstay their welcome.
"Awful workplace conditions" is underselling it a bit
What game is Eternal Defiance for gamecube??? I´ve seen it a couple of times in the show but i dont find any information about that game
This game still looks gorgeous 8 years later
I remember I could not put this game down back in the day. Multi-player was a lot of fun too. I can't beat the game without collecting everything.
I can only describe how I love this game with one word: Buzzsaw.
Buzzsaw go BRR
Though these games can definitely be repetitive, I still absolutely love the iterations of far cry as they're released. They're one of the only shooter games I even bother with nowadays.
Thanks, had this bought on Steam since completing 3 and yet never played it. Gonna get it installed and experienced.
Depending on how FC6 does, FC4 is my favorite. Felt 3 was tad overrated some. 5, momentum was killed with the the progress bar forcing you into story missions. 4 i was allowed to explore and do whatever the hell i want with in my opinion a very good progression system via hunting, side questing, collectibles etc. In addition this game aged very well.
I’m with you on 5 buddy but another problem I had with the game was that you HAD to kill the 3 underlinings of Joseph’s, including Jacob who is probably my favorite antagonist in the whole series, but you CAN’T kill Joseph until the end of New Dawn. And even worse: the game try’s to make him out to be the good guy. No Ubisoft, he is NOT the good guy!
This is my favourite far cry to play on the hardest difficulty glad you like it
Imagine a Prince of Persia with breath of the wild open world, the Witcher/sekiro combat, and parkour mechanics from that dream game
Sounds like a pain for the devs to make
19:27 - I KNEW my game glitched out! The TV never turned on, so they were all staring at a blank screen haha. I just thought they were using it as a radio or something lmao
As someone who has 100% completed the game twice I never really had any issues with the completion aspect of things. I just fell in love with the setting and with having so many combat abilities and weapons I just had a fun time running around and collecting stuff!
This is yet another franchise that I never tried before Jirard made a video about it that caught my attention. I'm in the middle of buying multiple far cry games to dive head first into it!
Love the new intro
Talk about that eternal defiance game you have in the background I've never seen that game before and I just tried looking for it on RUclips and found nothing so what's up with it?
I was wondering the same thing, it looks like a more "Gritty" Mario with a purple dragon. I think it's fake but I have to know. Google revealed nothing but it seems other people have searched for it recently.
The Completionist: Figuring out in 2021 what everyone else figured out about Ubisoft years ago.
Fun drinking game: Every time Jirard mispronounces Kyrat (KEY-rat) take a shot.
Note: Make sure you’ve updated your will in case you succumb to alcohol poisoning.
Great review,I can’t wait till you do FC5 truly underrated in my opinion. It’s my favorite FARCRY,I hope you review it soon:)
Man you need to play farcry, it was a trip, seeing how it goes from the first one to now is weird but fascinating. The online was pretty cool, you are able to make your own islands/maps with different buildings and you had these powers that made you leap across all crazy like. It was just a lot of fun messing around in. I think at the time no games had done something like that. But maybe I didn’t play them🤷♂️ worth just going and checking out.
Does anyone know what the music at the end is?
FC4 has been my favorite so far, having played 1, a bit of 2, all of 3, and more of 5 than I care to admit. 4's location, politics, and villain just all felt more interesting and more refined. "Maybe now we can shoot shoot some GD guns."
Rewatching this in anticipation of Farcry 6. Cant wait to see how it plays!
In hindsight, I guess FC6 was okay. But I'd rather eat shit for dinner for the rest of my life than 100% it..!
haven't played Far Cry 2?! now i want to see you do a completion of it....
Will you be completing Far Cry 6 when it releases?
Fallout is in the background when he starts
Never got around to finishing this one. Damn think kept crashing whenever I'd try to do one of the Shangri-La missions because it did not like that fact that I have two GPUs running in SLI, and I eventually got tired of having to turn that off and on whenever I wanted to do those parts.
Far Cry 3-5 is still in my backlog. I’m almost on mission 30 in Far Cry 3.
My biggest problem I had with 4 is that it was the start of creating an albeit good but stailing formula.
It's introduction was surprisingly really good, especially considering it gives a completely different perspective of a game.
...then you realize that 5 copy pasted it, with its being forced.
...I just wish the gameplay got shaken up is all. Blood dragon got close
I wonder why I never got all the achievements for this game
"Looks at the multiplayer achievements and the amount of people actually playing multiplayer'
Ah yes now I remember
Farcry 4 is one of my all time favorites in the series and all games!
The medieval gameplay that appears starting at 1:23... I don't recognize this. Is this a Ubisoft game? What game is it?
Is it me, or does the origin pc look like it has eyes at 0:50?
Jirad has some wolverine like hair in this episode
I loved this game man, one of the best video game worlds I’ve ever experienced.
daamn jirard's lookin great with that wolverine hair
We'd just heard The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go", we should have known that it was an option to sit at the table and wait for Pagan Min to come back
Really appreciate Troy Baker (Pagin Min) for correctly pronouncing "Ajay", as it is done in Hindi.
I'm actually completing this right now!
I took the last huge outpost with explosives and was not seen.
Pagan min is one of my absolute favourite villains of all time, and troy baker us just a treasure
Jirard, you should really lean into the Wolverine haircut
Looks a bit like wolverine today, awesome. I wish the resident evil village review was written like this. Good video.
I am a big fan of open world games but the Ubisoft games are where I kind of hit my limit at times in terms of size and content. I am not a trophy completionist but I try to eat least knock out all the map markers, side quests and stuff. I did not manage that when I played AC Odyssey earlier this year because it was just so so much to do. It is even more nuts when you consider that those games come out every year pretty much and multiple franchises to boot.
My favorite far cry is the blood dragon, is the same formula, but in a game not so long.
Not gonna lie, when I saw the thumbnail I thought you were completing the first far cry. The four blends in to the jacket
sounds dope I never tried it but I'm down to check it out now
No one gonna talk about the "Eternal Defiance" game behind Jirard?
Is the thumbnail a reference to the FC6 trailer?
I think Far Cry Primal came out after this one. Heard it's basically 4 but with a tribal skin on top. Would be very interested to see how that one goes.
Primal is honestly really different than 4. But they reused a good chunk of the map from 4.
That honey badger is a freaking bullet sponge!!! Lol
I loved this game
Was pissed you couldn't unlock the time slowing blow with the spread shot
I felt like after an hour they stopped focusing on the story and it was non stop missions
Thanks!
outro song name?
I completed Far Cry 3 recently and moving on Far Cry 4
Personally I preferred to Blood Dragon to either 3 or 4. It is dumb cheesy fun and wears it on its sleeve.
