Thank you for your video! Very helpful. This year will be the first time when I plan to properly organize our holiday storage (we're Orthodox Christian and celebrate by old calendar, so our Christmas decor is usually up till January 19th). Before we store stuff without any system and it was a real pain every year when we get it out to start decorating. And as you said - this time should be joy!
I'm the lady with the 20 bins...well 19. we take our inside Christmas decorations down the weekend after new year. will leave the 3 ft lit outdoor grapevine tree up until Epiphany. just told my hubby we will better organize & purge before putting back in attic. only candles & snowglobes are not stored in attic, because of heat. thanks!
I like the collapsible boxes from the Dollar Tree. They are the best and a great idea to help coracle the small things inside the bigger bins. You do a great job organizing all of your holiday decorations. I too have packed all of our stuff away. Happy New Year!!!

what i did is take pictures of my Christmas stuff put them in a three binder. also i put a picture on the bin. in the book, i wrote where it came from.i have alot of village pieces, trains,antique santas, .i love christmas.
Just took all our stuff down, now the house looks so bare. But loved the idea of reusing the bags with the zippers, I have a bunch of them from buying sheets etc. I will continue to save them for holiday items. Thanks for your video.
I had to chuckle when I saw that you use those sleeves to label your christmas bins, I found 10 packs of those same ones at a yard sale over the summer for 50 cents for all of them and I use them for the same labeling of all of my totes! Loved this video! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I love the ziplock bag tip! We celebrate Epiphany/Three Kings Day on January 6th, so the decor will be out for a couple of weeks more 😄
ilea888 So fun! My tree was terribly dead, the needles were falling everywhere and it was basically eating my ornaments while it wilted! Otherwise I would have stuck it out a bit longer :)

I did this consolidation/bins last year and it was great! I had held on to so many of those old original broken ornament boxes since I was a young bride in the 1970's! I like your idea of using Dollar Tree collapsible containers and will incorporate those after Christmas this year. My crucial take-away from this is to continue to purge!!
....the older ornaments weren't broken - their boxes were!

I use Costco Apple bins too! I also use egg cartons for my smaller breakable ornaments. This year was harder for me than in past years because my house was so cute this year!

Dang! I wish that I had seen this video before I had put all my Christmas away.
I see the container on the very bottom is opened. Do you never have mice in your basement?
We've only noticed one mouse in the 3 1/2 years here but it's possible our two cats take care of them before we see any. But no, I've never had a problem with open bins.
I have to store my ornaments in their containers because they are glass.
Excellent video. Only comment I have is please don't donate the "not go good" red glass ornaments to Goodwill. Only donate something that YOU would purchase. The time spent by Goodwil to sort out and pay to discard unusable items is horrendous. Goodwill should only receive items that have a resale value, not a trash value. I feel for the workers at Goodwill. Thank you.
