Very good video. 1.3g of gold out of 500g of gold finger cuircut boards. It'd been nice to see 2g, but I'm not disappointed with the results. I've been hoarding and collecting ewaste for a couple of years. I'm guessing with the 2 vids I've seen, I have at least $5,000 saved. I sure could use it now, but I'm not going to risk my health/life for it. I still have a whole lot to learn!! Thank you Sreetips!!!!
No, after adding that much aqua regia I would expect there to be some gold in solution but there is none, based on that stannous test. At that point, some of the gold foils have dissolved, but why can't I detect it with the stannous test? Here is the point; base metals, including copper, are present. These base metals will "cement" out any gold that dissolves into a fine brown/black powder that the stannous can't detect. If I add more aqua regia then some of this gold powder may dissolve but it will "cement" right back out of solution on the base metals that are present and my stannous test will continue to be negative. This will keep happening over and over until all (or most) of the base metals get dissolved by the acids. Once the base metals are dissolved, the gold will have nothing to cement out on, and the gold will finally stay in solution.
sreetips so at 6:35 if you had been positive for gold in solution how would you have removed the base metals from the gold solution. Or would you just drop the gold out of solution and start with fresh acid?
If the test had been positive, then I would add SMB and let the precipitated gold settle. But it would take a long time to settle in that dirty solution and there's no way to really tell if it's settled completely because the solution has the color of used motor oil. Desolving the base metals with aqua regia is probably not a good technique for beginners because gold can be lost easily if the refiner lacks experience working with these dirty solutions. I think that the best method for these fingers is hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide to lift the fingers off the fiber. Then they can be easily collected and refined.
sreetips thanks for the advice you are one of the most helpful resources when it comes to metal refining on RUclips. How do you feel about using just nitric acid to lift gold foils.
I don't know because I've never tried it. But if there is copper under those gold foils then it makes sense that hot dilute nitric might work. That's something brand new. It would make a fantastic video if it worked. Nice thought experiment on you my friend.
The aqua regia will dissolve the gold then cement out on the copper, dissolve, cement out, dissolve, cement out over and over, wasting chemicals as it goes, until all of the copper is gone. Then the copper will turn the solution very black, very dirty and hard to see what’s happening. And that’s why it’s best to remove the copper FIRST with A/P before we try to dissolve the gold foils in aqua regia.
thank you so much.. how much i need to put in nitric acid and hcl to dissolve 1.5 kg in ore gold or scarps... if i dont know the reel quantity of gold inside my ores or scrap
Hi, Thanks for sharing, I have been able to follow the steps you have outlined to produce good quality gold from scrap. I was wondering about how to set up my little lab at home, can you explain how your suction setup works? I am thinking of using a vacuum cleaner setup can you suggest a better way... Cheers Rick
I gave the cost data to show that these fingers are grossly overpriced. This is a viable way to recover and refine the gold from this type of scrap. But as the video shows, making money doing it would be very difficult unless you can get the scrap for very little or for free.
I used to before I had mine. Take a big gulp of air, hold your breath, and add the reagents. But no matter how careful, I always ended up breathing small amounts of the fumes. With the fume hood, I don't have any fumes hit me at all.
Yes i have done some batches with fingers.53% nitric diluted with water.Starting with no external heat. Let it sit for a day. Then heating slowly over a half day or so. I'l end up with nice green/blue clear liquid and Au foils floating around. Not sure about the yield, to me it's always disappointing tho. The reason i prefer nitric is that the "waste" (dirty copper nitrate) can be converted back to active acid again. So i dehydrate it to cristaline form and store it for later.
Hello Sreetips, I hope you're doing good. I have been watching your videos and found out that you used 2 different m enthods in your videos to recover gold from computer scrap fingers. 1) Used Aqua Regia which yield 1.3 grams of gold from 500 grams of gold fingers. 2) Used salt & vinegar method which yield 0.8 grams of gold from 500 grams of gold fingers. Which means Aqua Regia method is better for extraction if I'm not wrong? Please comment as I will be doing the same experiment also. Please also share the concentration %ages of H2SO4, HCL & HNO3 you've used in your experiments. Thank you.
I did the fingers in another video using no nitric acid: ruclips.net/video/2sZUAprS5KI/видео.html The salt and vinegar video was just a novelty. I did it under the direction of two chemists from the website sciencemadness.org I would not recommend salt and vinegar because of the blue precipitate that formed during the experiment. You could use it if you dissolved the blue precipitate with HCl. But I think the best way to do it is in the video sited above in this text. I only got about 90% or so of the foils off the fingers because I stopped the bubbler process in the acid peroxide after only 18 hours. You can get 100% of the foils if you just leave the bubbler on for several days. Plus, with this method, you don't have to use any nitric acid at all. It takes more time, but time and patience is one attribute that separates the rookies from the experienced refiner.
Very well said, my friend. Time is the basic key that guarantees maximum yield. I've been watching your videos for 4 days continuously & I am excited enough to carry out my first experiment. Will surely let you know about my results. :)
While adding nitric acid one pipette at a time to dissolve base metals at first step. I notice orange brown fumes coming out of the beaker. May I ask what type of gas is it that is coming out of the beaker?
wouldn't it be easier/better to either smash this stuff up in to even smaller bits?Or better yet to incinerate them first? Would that be a good solution to extract gold from full size motherboards and general circuit boards?
Great video. I have a question. In various related videos, I see some people using SMB in powder form (as you did) and some people using it already disolved in water. Is there any preferance as to why you might do it one way or the other?
I've used it both ways, I don't think it matters. Dissolving the SMB first enables you to filter the SMB solution to remove any impurities, but increases the amount of waste to deal with. Adding powdered SMB reduces the amount of waste but you don't get a chance to filter. I've never had a problem with contamination of the pure gold by adding powdered SMB, so that is the way I go these days.
Sorry, I answered “yes” because I thought you were asking about a different video. Most of my waste solutions are barren of precious metals. A stannous test verifies this for me. I add gold refining waste solutions to my stock pot. Escrap waste solutions are added directly to my waste treatment bucket.
Sir, in case where we go with nitrit acid at first, and then the gold obtined procced with aqua regia, possibility it can result more obtaining of the refined gold, right?
Hi Sreetips I try to do the same with some gold plated PCBs but while precipitating gold powder with SMB, there was some fluffy precipitation. I don't think that all is gold. As while washing this fluffy things occurs I also try to re dissolve the same but the same think happened. I think that due to solders on the PCBs, this thing occurs. Kindly suggest what can be done in this situation. TIA
I've never worked with gold plated PCBs. I don't have any experience with them. But my experience with gold plated items is this; it takes several kilos of gold plated material to get just one gram of pure gold. If your working with 100 grams then there will be so little gold that the yield will be nearly zero. Almost nothing!
Hello sir, I guess there are base metals in the solution and so dropping the gold a few times will remove all the base metals? I have Gold and Copper in solution and so.. dropping the gold with a few times SMB will remove all the copper? Thanks so much for all your terrific work! Prospector Tripp
So I just formed the aqua regia but I forgot to do the sulfuric acid is it too late? If so then never mind but if it's not too late how much half a milliliter or a whole milliliter what do you think?
Some of the foils dissolve in the aqua regia. But, any base metals still present will cement out the gold, in accordance with the reactivity series of metals, as a brown/black powder. This will continue to happen until all the base metals dissolve completely. Only then will the gold dissolve and stay in solution.
I can get 1.88 grams of pure gold from 1 pound of these fingers. That's just too low a return and the amount of waste is high. For these reasons, I don't refine this kind of material.
streetips, ive been doing it wrong this whole time! I kept getting negative stannous tests and now I see why! thanks so much. I kept asking ppl online and they kept telling me to study more and be safe, but they wouldn't just give me help! I also would like to try reverse electro plating with copper mesh and stainless steel! works?
+Raymond Reyes Glad to see it helped you. The stripping cell works good. But, if you have the time, I would let the black powder settle in the cell. Just cover it and wait for several days. Then siphon off the acid and get the black powder. This is much safer than trying to dilute the entire concentrated sulfuric acid charge in the cell like I did in the video.
+sreetips I'll have to watch that video again. I cannot remember it clearly, question... the sulphuric acid is the stuff that I bought at the auto parts store?
+Raymond Reyes I get mine at Ace Hardware. It's called Rooto Drain Cleaner. About $10 per gallon. It is 98% concentrated sulfuric acid. Also Liquid Fire, same place.
Hi, i have used sodium metabisulphite to precipitate gold from aqua regia. but am not getting a dark color change. mine seems to be mild white. can u help me in this? @Sreetips
There are many videos on yt how to recover the gold with acids, who with nitric acid and distilled water, and others with aqua regia, but none of the videos it is explained step by step what is really the true gold refining process. In short, there is no clear rule on this subject.
The only numbers that I'm familiar with are: no. 1 - fast flow, no.2 medium flow, no. 3 slow flow. I usually just use what ever I have available. When the gold is precipitated it comes down differently each time. Sometimes as very fine particle, other times as a thick fluffy precipitate. The fine stuff will get through the filter but just a tenth of a gram of less. The concentration of the gold in solution and the type of contaminants removed will have an effect on how the gold comes down.
After watching this process I noticed that before both drops you used nitric acid and I didn't see you denoxx the free nitric present you were adding and allowing to cook even after stannos was positive and little to no reaction fingers appeared clean yet you were able to drop gold I've always denoxx with sulfamic as the free nitric prevented the man from dropping gold as the solution would redissolve any tips on that your a excellent refiner or possible edit?. Thinking the first but any advice would be welcomed
Yes. If I had to pick the single most valuable tip in refining gold, it would be this: NEVER PREMIX AQUA REGIA THREE TO ONE OR FOUR TO ONE (hydrochloric to nitric ratio). Instead use incremental nitric acid additions. I never premix aqua regia when I dissolve gold. Premixing aqua regia wastes time and chemicals and guarantees that there will be excess nitric acid that must be delt with after all the gold has dissolved. Instead, I add hydrochloric acid only to the gold that I want to dissolve. Then over medium heat, with a watch glass or saucer cover, I add small doses of nitric acid, 1 or 2 ml at a time, until all the gold has dissolved. I can carefully control the amount of nitric acid going into the reaction, using just enough to dissolve all the gold. Done correctly, there will be very little, if any, nitric acid that must be removed. This completely eliminates the need to remove excess nitric acid with sulfamic or by any other method because there will be no nitric acid to remove. Incremental small doses of nitric saves time and nitric acid.
I'm very happy to hear that. I've got a bucket out back right now, and I mean small bucket, with over twenty pounds office from a gold mine, from the glory hole (that's what they call the main area there). I made up some Aqua regia with muriatic acid and some homemade nitric, which of course wasn't pure. I've got more being prepared and tomorrow I'll add it to see if I can pull more gold out. This video will be on later this week.
Friend, the only reason I bought this scrap was to make these videos. I normally do not mess with this type of scrap because the yields are so low. Buy it if you want to try the process so you can have the material to work with. But be prepared to pay from two to ten times what the scrap is worth.
Thank you for the video, please, what product you use in stannous test ? Here you dissolve gold with the fingers, why not to recovery it and refining after ? And in C.M. Hoke book, there is a method for recovering and refining Palladium ? Good method for the filters, better of the incinerating and clean & economic. Without indiscretion on my part, how many years of experience do you have?
The stannous chloride (please see my video that shows how to make it) test solution is 1 gram stannous chloride crystals, 1 gram pure tin metal, 25ml distilled water, and 30 drops hydrochloric acid. Mix and use immediately. I've done a video where I recover the foils from circuit card fingers with HCl and peroxide first then refine the foils to pure gold. Some one asked about using straight Aqua Regia so that is why I made this video showing how. I've got some palladium recovered from silver cell slimes. I'll make a video soon showing how to refine the palladium. Hoke does have a refining procedure for palladium using ammonium chloride and sodium chlorate. I've got a pile of filter papers that have gold and platinum in them from digesting silver and I'll do a video on that also. I've been refining as a hobby for a little over 5 years now.
Roughly 1 pound of gold fingers to a gram of finished product. DAMNIT EBAY! jack offs sell "high yield" trimmed fingers for practically spot price. Thank you for making these videos, when more people see the price is to high and people stop buying, the price of the fingers will come back down and us hobbiest can cover our cost to do it and make a little something for our time invested.
The reason I reported the cost of the fingers in the video was to illustrate to people that trimmed fingers sold on eBay are way over priced. But to me they were a bargain because It would have taken me years and thousands of scrap PCs to accumulate that quantity of fingers! I found it quite convenient to be able to purchase the trimmed fingers all at once even though I had to pay over four times what they were valued at. It was well worth it for me because I needed the fingers to make the videos.
@@sreetips I get so much material found a way to get it free, Streetips mentioned that in one of his Vids and I actually did it, Now im overwhelmed with material, Its a lot of work to just prepare it , acquiring it is easy. I want to see $10K in Gold Bar is my Goal.
Hi I want to thank you for the videos posted, they really are quite informative and easy to understand. Just one quick question, how much as per your experience is the yield of gold from an average 1kg mixed batch of Ram sticks.(finger and IC combined).
Sreetips, thank you for your informative videos! Your thoroughness and attention to detail while being able to explain easily has been very helpful for me in my education journey. I do have one quick question. Towards the end of this video, you add sulfuric acid to the solution of nitric acid, gold, and base metals to precipitate out lead after which you filter the solution then add SMB. If you were to skip this step of adding sulfuric acid for lead precipitation, and went ahead and added the SMB would there be any negative effects and what might happen? Would the reaction require more SMB to drop the gold versus one with the lead removed?
The sulfuric acid is added as a precaution to remove any lead that may be in solution with the gold. If this step is omitted then any lead would remain in solution and pass through the filter with the gold, possibly contaminate the pure gold. I add sulfuric acid every time I dissolve the gold. It hurts nothing, costs almost nothing, but provides a big benefit by converting any lead (if present) to a solid that can be 100% removed during filtering. Lead, in just traces amounts, will ruin the malleability of the fine gold causing it to crumble. It must be avoided at all costs, adding H2SO4 gets rid of it quickly and easily.
I stopped at the 11 minute mark and went back to watch at the 7:30 mark again. I might edit and erase this if I missed an answer to my possibly ignorant question. The waste solution that you poured into another beaker that had the dirty solution of base metals in it, you said the gold cemented out on the base metals. Is that something that can be collected later and retrieve the gold from it? I'M VERY SORRY IF THIS QUESTION IS ANSWERED in this video. I just had to type before I lost track of the question🤔. If I can watch the rest of the video and find out the answer, this will be erased and again I'm sorry if I wasted your time!!!!
No problem Shane. Again, the reactivity series of metals is in play here. In this video I put the fingers straight away into hot Aqua regia. The Aqua regia will put everything into solution. Any gold that gets dissolved will get "cemented" right back out of solution on any of the base metals that are still present. This will continue to happen until the acids completely dissolve all the base metals. Once all the base metals are completely dissolved, the gold will no longer cement out because there won't be any base metals for the gold to cement out on. Then the gold will stay in solution. This can confuse and confound a novice who attemps this method. It could easily result in loss of metal.
sreetips I was thinking that once the pm are cemented out it connects to the base metals then that turns into the pm mud or beautiful brown stuff at the bottom. I didn't see any of that. I think that's why I asked that question. (I'm learning!!) Your answer to my question was very helpful, thank you!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. But i'm pretty sure that there is some silver in waste beaker, you left before :) Can i percipitate it by adding dimethylglyoxime into solution? And another question: how much of fingers and how much of pins can I put into 1L of AR solution? I've been searching it for a while, but i haven't got satisfying and simple answer yet :)
Traces amount of silver can be precipitated as silver chloride with hydrochloric acid or sodium chloride. Dimethylglyoxime is for precipitating palladium, not silver. Using AR on pins is not the best way to go. Especially if they are magnetic. You should used a sulfuric acid stripping cell to deplate gold plated pins. I don't know how many fingers will go into a liter of ar. I've never tried it.
urea is used to neutralize the solution to stop the acids to attack on gold to bring it back to solution once you put smb so it is good to put urea to neutralize before to use smb for gold precipitation
I'm using concentrated muriatic acid, 31.45% - it's right off the shelf from Ace Hardware at $7 per gallon. Lowes sells it for about $10. Don't get the "green" or "no-fume" versions, it just watered down (diluted).
hi, Thank u for your video. I've a question. help if you can. I did the experiment but by using extra nitric acid my solution went wrong and no gold settled. what can i do with the solution . can the gold again be recovered? tnx
I follow all your videos, exelent way to explain each one, I allready bougth a lot of tools, the biggest problem I have is to find where to buy nitric acid, I tried on line and stores, nowhere. I appreciate a good sugestion. Thank you0
I have a question. When using H2O2 + HCL to etch ram fingers, why too much concentration dissolves gold and why too little take the gold flakes off? Is it because the copper layer underneath the gold is less in metallic density compared to gold? is that why it is easily attacked versus gold? Keep going buddy, your videos are highly appreciated.
My guess it is directly related to the density the finger flakes have a much higher density than the sponge per nanometer or some other more apt measurement. The being said one might alter there reaction too suite
Hello, Here is a suggestion for you. Before you waste all that Chemical, take the Finger Boards and run a Hot Soldering Iron across the Gold to separate it from the board. Scrap that into a Beaker or Dish. Once you have removed the majority of the Gold from the boards, you can then get the rest off using the Chemical Process. Once you have completed the processing of the boards with the Chemicals, add the Gold from the Salvage Dish to get everything into Solution and process normally.
Good vid, sreetips! Seems like a very laborious process to do it this way. Wouldn't it be easier, cheaper and more efficient to put the gold fingers in AP first and take the recovered gold foils directly to AR? After precipeteting with SMB you could do a HCl wash and dissolve in AR again. Should yield better and limit the use of acid if I'm not mistaking..
I think I used about 2 liters of HCl and about 500ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Then bubbles air for a week or so until all the foils were loose from the fiber board.
Aqua Regia should never be premixed! It wastes chemicals, especially hard to get and expensive nitric acid. I used only enough nitric needed to just dissolve all the gold with incremental doses of a few ml of nitric acid at a time. There was no excess nitric (or vey little) to neutralize. I can dissolve one Troy ounce of gold in 150ml of hydrochloric acid and about 15ml or 20ml of nitric acid. You don't need to premix aqua regia three to one of four to one. If you do, then you are GUARANTEED to have excess nitric that must be delt with. Premixing wastes nitric acid and causes problems when precipitating the gold. Adding incremental doses of nitric acid, a few ml at a time, completely eliminates the need to neutralize excess nitric acid, because there is none to neutralize. I dissolve the gold in every video that I have made in this manner. I figured it would self evident as folks watched my videos. I'll have to make a video to specifically demonstrate this technique. I have written this so many times answering the same question over and over.
No, I didn't mean to sound harsh, sorry if I did. You've inspired me to create a new video that shows how this technique saves time, nitric acid and eliminates the need for denoxing. No foul, thank you!
Hi. i av a very high collection of high grade boards lots of gold plated pins, connectors gold plated board and other components. I need a buyer. Not too sure but total gold to be recovered is estimated to be above 2kg. I don't think I can do the recovery procedure. I can provide you with videos or live chat if you want.
can we recover the base metals such as copper or silvers from the solution you just stored on a side from the first beaker, some other methods are also used to recover gold from computer parts so which method is best as you got 1.2 gm per 500 mg and i know it is a tutorial but if i start this business so will i get any profit thanks for so hard work. if you get free make a video for gold recovery with no use of chemicals etc. plz answer me
If you add clean copper to a solution containing silver that has been dissolved in nitric acid then the silver will cement out on the copper. To see this happen, dissolve a gram of silver in a 50/50 dilute nitric solution with some heat. Then add a piece of clean copper wire and watch when happens. The silver will appear on the piece of copper and the copper will disappear - like magic. I don't think you can make a profit unless you can get the scrap for free. If there is a way to recover gold without chemicals then I have never heard of it. Hope this helps.
sreetips thanks you so much i will appreciate if you give me your Facebook, i want to be your student to learn more about gold recovery from you in your free time.
You can use 1/10 of the nitric if you strip the gold off the material first. Saves money, is easier and get a cleaner product at the end. An excess of nitric is so much harder to work with. I leave these comments for the folks just starting out on their own
I've found I have to use a lot more bleach than nitric so I like to use just enough nitric to get the job done. Seems to dissolve faster and precipitate out better in the end using the perfect amount of Aqua Regia. Plus less liquid and waste in general to have to deal with. For the new people; any time you can use Copperas instead of SMB go ahead and do it. The gold precipitates out of solution 100% but you need to have a clean solution to use it or you'll be dropping other metals as well
One other major point is that when you do the first step of stripping off the foils you also are taking care of 99% of the base metals at the same time. You then only have to contend with copper when you dissolve your gold. Copper is the easiest to work around when the trouble metals are already taken care of. Drop the gold, filter off then drop the copper.
Great video. Thanks fo charing... Personally i prefer desolving base metals in nitric first. Those e-waste sellers make the most profit in the refinery world i think.
Didn't think of that. Have you ever processed this type of scrap (fingers) starting with nitric first? Can you remember the results, yield? I'd be interested in any information you can give. My experience with this type of scrap is limited to just 4 batches, including the one in this video.Thank you.
How much is that little bead of gold worth? Can you even make a profit doing something like this? It seems like you would spend more time and money with the chemicals needed than it would be worth.
+kingflare5 you can make a profit if you can get the scrap for free. I intentionally took a loss so that I could have the material to make this and other videos. Thank you for your comments and your interest!
Only 5 years helm you look like you been doing it a your life with such ease lol I'm just starting trying to learn if you ever have any free time for a few questions email me and I give hohmg number thanks and have a good day now
Am I seeing this right? you paid $417 for 5 pounds of fingers. Each 500 grams is yielding $41 worth of gold. So 5 pounds worth will bring roughly $185.
That is CORRECT. They are way over priced but I needed them to be able to make this and other videos. So I paid more than they were worth. I've got the 24k gold bead listed for sale on eBay in the section that sells "computer scrap fingers". They want 10 times what they are worth in terms of the gold get they contain.
Kind of misleading in a way because now it maked it look like its not worth a grind.. how much gold did you recover after processing AAAALLLLL the fingers?
So let me get this right...You spend $417 on the fingers. After all your time and chemicals you recovered 1 gram of gold worth aprox. $50? Dude, I have some beautiful ocean front property in Kansas I'll sell you real cheap....
Hello sreetips, at 6:35 if your stannous chloride test had tested positive would you have simply added more copper metal to cement out the gold?
Well, why didn’t the original aqua regia dissolve the hold fingers with the copper but later it did??? What aren’t you telling us?
Cheers Rick
Question: was the fluid colour change from Green to Yellow was because of the copper in the solution?
No, copper in solution is blue. Iron in solution is yellow. Blue and yellow make green.
How many houras do you boil acid with gold?
Did you add that first run of solution into your stock pot?
I can’t remember.
So are you stating in the video this is /not/ viable?
I gave the cost data to show that these fingers are grossly overpriced. This is a viable way to recover and refine the gold from this type of scrap. But as the video shows, making money doing it would be very difficult unless you can get the scrap for very little or for free.
Can i do this outside if i don't have a fume hood?
Thank you.
I did the fingers in another video using no nitric acid:
ruclips.net/video/2sZUAprS5KI/видео.html
The salt and vinegar video was just a novelty.

Why do you use fluted filter paper when filtering the gold percipitate instead of vacuum filtration?
I started doing it that way. It works, so I just kept doing it as part of the process for myself.
How do you keep from losing any loose flakes when you siphon off the initial AR?
lol...never mind...just saw you filtered the waste solution a bit later in the vid
which method do you think is better for gold fingers, AR or HCL Peroxide?
Definitely acid/peroxide. Putting fingers in aqua regia puts everything in solution and makes a very dirty solution.
wouldn't it be easier/better to either smash this stuff up in to even smaller bits?Or better yet to incinerate them first? Would that be a good solution to extract gold from full size motherboards and general circuit boards?
+Ronke's DIY Workshop Yes, that might work nicely. Several viewers had requested fingers in Aqua Regia.
Good evening, friend, to release the gold leaves of ram you use iron perchloride and this
Great video.
Hello, can I ask, if there's a plenty amount of gold in waste solution? That u use to recover gold?
Yes
Do you have examples? If you have please. Let me know.. thank you. I have a lot of waste acid from recovering
Sorry, I answered “yes” because I thought you were asking about a different video. Most of my waste solutions are barren of precious metals. A stannous test verifies this for me. I add gold refining waste solutions to my stock pot. Escrap waste solutions are added directly to my waste treatment bucket.
Okay Sir, you're the best mentor. ♥️
Sir, in case where we go with nitrit acid at first, and then the gold obtined procced with aqua regia, possibility it can result more obtaining of the refined gold, right?

Hi Sreetips
I try to do the same with some gold plated PCBs but while precipitating gold powder with SMB, there was some fluffy precipitation. I don't think that all is gold. As while washing this fluffy things occurs
I also try to re dissolve the same but the same think happened.
Have you written a book describing this process?
I have not written any books
Hello sir, I guess there are base metals in the solution and so dropping the gold a few times will remove all the base metals? I have Gold and Copper in solution and so.. dropping the gold with a few times SMB will remove all the copper? Thanks so much for all your terrific work! Prospector Tripp
SMB should drop the gold straight away leaving the copper in solution.
So I just formed the aqua regia but I forgot to do the sulfuric acid is it too late? If so then never mind but if it's not too late how much half a milliliter or a whole milliliter what do you think?
I’d think 1/2 ml should do it
@@sreetips so it's not too late?
Hey streetips which method is better to use on good fingers? Ap or nitric acid and water, or aqua regia?
AP to recover the gold foils is the best in my experience
when you sifon the dirty solution were did the foils that were already dissolved?
Some of the foils dissolve in the aqua regia. But, any base metals still present will cement out the gold, in accordance with the reactivity series of metals, as a brown/black powder. This will continue to happen until all the base metals dissolve completely. Only then will the gold dissolve and stay in solution.
So what should I do now?
I wish I could be there to guide you, but I don't know.
I wish you wore to... what may I have done wrong on the process?
How much can you make in one day from those scraps??if you have 3 full bags full of them?
+sreetips so it is different? because I bought some already but if it's not the right kind I'll return it and get the stuff you have suggested.
+Raymond Reyes I don't know if the auto parts stuff is concentrated or not. If yes then your good. If not then I'd go with the Rooto.
hi...can we use potassium metabisulphite instead of sodium?
thank you
I don't know, I've never tried it. Sodium metabisulfite is cheap and easy to get. I buy mine on eBay.
Hi, i have used sodium metabisulphite to precipitate gold from aqua regia. but am not getting a dark color change. mine seems to be mild white. can u help me in this? @Sreetips
That’s baffling. You probably had so little gold in solution that there’s no yield. A common beginner mistake.
@@sreetips Thanks for your quick response.
how does lead sulphate looks like( After adding the H2SO4)? And should we get a lot? because I got lots of white/grayish powder as precipitate.
It will be a precipitate but I'm not sure what color it is.
Vedant kale could be silver chloride its present with cpu recovery and or with a lot of solder present
There are many videos on yt how to recover the gold with acids, who with nitric acid and distilled water, and others with aqua regia, but none of the videos it is explained step by step what is really the true gold refining process. In short, there is no clear rule on this subject.
What micron size do you recommend for filter paper when filtering the Gold after taking it out of solution with the Sodium Metabisulfate? Thx..
Many Thx..
I can dissolve one troy ounce of gold in 200ml of hydrochloric and just 15 to 20ml of nitric acid using the incremental nitric additions technique.
Office was of rocks... Twenty pounds of rocks.. Spellcheck...
hi there , in your opinion how much should i buy a 1 lbs of circuit fingers? and 1 peice of cpu ?
+sreetips thank you alot, I expected video for recovery and refining Palladium

Depends entirely on make and model of the objects procured. Older the better.

+sreetips thanks. i'l check it out
Sreetips, thank you for your informative videos!
It must be avoided at all costs, adding H2SO4 gets rid of it quickly and easily.
sreetips thanks for the explanation it is very helpful

what would happen if someone drank the liquid gold?
Gold dissolved in solution with acid is called chloroauric acid. drinking it in any concentration would probably result in death.
I hope this video contain complete process?
(I'm learning!!)
Your answer to my question was very helpful, thank you!
How to gold ram fingers buy
streetips, so I did this all wrong. but is there anyway for me to recover my gold even though I've used smb and urea on the solution?
+Raymond Reyes I'm not sure. I don't know where you are at.
urea is used to neutralize the solution to stop the acids to attack on gold to bring it back to solution once you put smb so it is good to put urea to neutralize before to use smb for gold precipitation
Are you using concentraded HCl (37%) or muriatic acid (about 8%)?
I'm using concentrated muriatic acid, 31.45% - it's right off the shelf from Ace Hardware at $7 per gallon. Lowes sells it for about $10. Don't get the "green" or "no-fume" versions, it just watered down (diluted).
sreetips have you ever tried muriatic acid?
I use it in all my videos. Muriatic acid is the same thing as hydrochloric acid.

Yes boil down your solution add distilled water 5x volume, drop the silver and filter. Then denox with uera any excess nitric and drop with SMB.
I follow all your videos, exelent way to explain each one, I allready bougth a lot of tools, the biggest problem I have is to find where to buy nitric acid, I tried on line and stores, nowhere. I appreciate a good sugestion. Thank you0
I think you can get it on eBay but it’s pricey
This clears up my question from today's video :) Thanks for pointing me here.
I had to go back and watch this again.
I don't know the answer. I've used HCl and H2O2 to dissolve precious metals, but they were in the form of sponge or powder.
Red, good suggestion. But I would rather let the chemicals do the work for me. Scraping the foils off would take a long time.
+Rallerman Awesomezz All good points. There was a specific request for processing the fingers in Aqua Regia by some of the viewers.
+sreetips Alright! Now it makes more sense lol. Anyways, wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything. Love your vids so please keep 'em coming.
what is AP? what are the proportions used please
I think I used about 2 liters of HCl and about 500ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Then bubbles air for a week or so until all the foils were loose from the fiber board.
hello, you didn´t neutralize the nitric with urea...why not?
Sorry...
No, I didn't mean to sound harsh, sorry if I did. You've inspired me to create a new video that shows how this technique saves time, nitric acid and eliminates the need for denoxing. No foul, thank you!

can we recover the base metals such as copper or silvers from the solution you just stored on a side from the first beaker,
some other methods are also used to recover gold from computer parts so which method is best as you got 1.2 gm per 500 mg and i know it is a tutorial but if i start this business so will i get any profit thanks for so hard work. if you get free make a video for gold recovery with no use of chemicals etc. plz answer me
If you add clean copper to a solution containing silver that has been dissolved in nitric acid then the silver will cement out on the copper. Hope this helps.

another cool video and nice ball of gold in the end all them rams for that gold :) sweet :)
Hello sir nitric acid percent please
68%
You can use 1/10 of the nitric if you strip the gold off the material first. Saves money, is easier and get a cleaner product at the end. An excess of nitric is so much harder to work with. I leave these comments for the folks just starting out on their own
If the gold is stripped off first then no nitric will be needed. The foils can be dissolved very easily using hydrochloric acid and bleach.
Great video.Thanks fo charing...
Personally i prefer desolving base metals in nitric first.
