Big same here. Never been super big on shooters but I'm floored at how Doom is just as satisfying as a hand-to-hand fighting game. The projectile dodging and weapon switching is just peerless.
This is the video game that made me rethink my way of playing video games and made me agree with your points about the Marauder from Doom Eternal. I even left a similar comment referencing this game on your video about the Marauder back then. I approached it as a simple brain-dead beat'em up and got frustrated at how difficult certain fights were and how slow the movement felt. I even considered uninstalling the game. But then I calmed down and tried to learn the game and found it to be incredibly rewarding once you use your brain and approach things more strategically. So yeah, it's cool that you finally played the game and liked it as well.
My favorite thing about this game is the special system. You can’t rely and spam it or you’ll be exposed to loosing a lot of health but if you strategically use it you can use the I-frames and damage effectively. The music is also incredible I can’t believe you didn’t mention it! (One nitpick I had with this game is that online if a player leaves a match the level just ends and you can’t finish the level at all, which just sucks)
@@ananmaysahu4563 that's definitely what it would do hahaha it would be a way to strengthen your enemies, just for the sake of challenge as Mayo loves to do
Platinumed this last year and was so excited to hear there will be DLC to draw me back in. As always good video Mayo! Glad you picked this up as my 3 most anticipated games last year were Doom Eternal, TLOU2 and SOR4. And I’m glad that you ‘gush’ over this as much as the Eternal.
I use a software called Parsec to fix my connectivity issues when playing with friends. It's like Steam Remote Play but I find it better with almost zero input lag. The next best thing is, since it acts as if the players are connected locally, it allows for 4 player co-op for Streets of Rage 4. Provided only one player uses a keyboard and the rest on gamepad, otherwise it will just conflict because of the local nature of the connection.
Try out *The Wonderful 101* . You'll fall in love with it too. Maybe make a video about it. Maybe people will buy it. So that *maybe* someday there will be a sequel to this absolutely stunning game. Yooo im happy to see you liked it so much. Honestly i remember thinking of this game when you made your big video on difficulty I swear this game just had everything i could’ve wanted with a great beat em up. Honestly (ironically) it reminded me of DMC3 with combos being a necessary means of crowd control
Deadass, play DMC1 and 3. You still don't get to pick higher difficulty at the start, but they have a higher base difficulty so I think you'll like them.
SoR4 was one of the best beat em ups ever made, definitely was my favoruite game from last year just behind DOOM. The fact we're also getting a full expansion this year adding even more characters, moves and levels is awesome, I cant wait.
i'm pretty sure that anyone who ask about the point of flashy combos do not understand the concept of intrinsic motivation but anyway, great content as always, Mayo!
I played this game on Game Pass, got bored pretty quick and uninstalled it. Never noticed, how deep it really is. I guess, I have to give it a second chance…thx Mayo!
Wasn't super interested in this game originally cause I don't have the nostalgia for it, since I didn't grow up in that era of videogames. This video definitely changed my mind though. The game looks really fun. While we're on the subject of beat em ups, I'd highly recommend checking out the ps2 classic God Hand, if you haven't already. I played it recently and had a blast.
Hey mayo, you should do God of War classic tech. Just like you do for Doom eternal. I’d love to see your explanation for how to pull off certain combos, strats etc
Really enjoy this game, but its combat system falls short of greatness, unlike combat in Doom Eternal and DMC5. The problem is accentuated at higher difficulties and characters with limited mobility like Axel, Blaze and Floyd. There are huge issues with the AI, and I had to look to one of John Romero's interviews to understand what it was. Its this, there are too many enemies that have much better mobility than the player (including Adam and Cherry). they attack at range, they attack on both X and Y axis, they have invulnerability sometimes. It really doesn't feel good at higher levels imo (again Doom and DMC shine at higher levels, Streets 4 doesn't). There are new moves and characters coming in the DLC and I hope these are addressed. I hope you get to play on harder difficulties and see what it is.
Honestly my biggest problem with the game only stems to how the bosses and certain enemies work. Super armor is fine in moderation in these sorts of games, but after a point basically all of them start abusing it. It forces defensive play, but then you get something like a certain mind-controlled bugger who is a tackling, rolling, spinning pile of bunk. I can beat the boss rush, but that doesn't make all the super armor less annoying.
Gotta tell the tmnt shredders revenge guys to offer a patch/update that will offer a Streets of Rage 4 mode with the life and super meter mechanic. That would be awesome.
This game is the shit and my Game of the year, too. Played for about 50 hrs before I first got a little bored, but then played another 70 hrs with the DLC half in survival mode and half with reaching Rank S in every difficulty with Shiva :D. Reminds me of what made games great in my childhood, where I already had bloody thumbs from Streets of Rage 2. ...Didn't manage too get Rank S in Maniac Mode though 😅
One of my favorite, action oriented, games to come out in recent memory. Though I still prefer booting up Streets of Rage 1, and 2 for the music and general speed (and Max alone), I still believe this game surpasses the originals plenty. Now I'm just advocating for maybe a turbo mode, a new Max/Skate, and maybe even a guest character... Sketch Turner anyone?!!
Always been fan of this games when I was a little kid. I used have this street of game 2 on my game boy and I played this game for a good ass long time. Great times
Well, Streets of rage 4 is good game, but my huge problem is with sor 4 that before i play a game called Fight'N'Rage (which is awesome game). And here's my point of view. I just miss a lot of movement options in Fight"N"Rage i could run, run and make long jump, run and make slide attack (nice opener for chainning followup combos), i can jump, jump kick, jump punch, wall jump, jump strike (stronger attack), and also in fight n rage is very clever solution by taping 2x down or 2x up character make fast movment up or down (great for escaping from line of "sight" enemies or even avoid certain attacks in dynamic way) and because of that SoR 4 is just so slow and clunky... With certain enemies its just make me feel like bad design choices by cutting my movement freedom because in other way the game will be just too easy (sor 4), Fight n rage in many ways are very similiar game with sor 4, but FnR give me freedom where Sor 4 force me to crawl stage by stage. In FnR i can run towards enemy, slide kick him and follow up with basic combo and then juggle him into air with another attack and then i can if i want use super to deal even more dmg and in FnR if you score enough dmg to enemies they ... explode which is super fun. and the best part of this is it cannot stop or slow my flow of kickin asses in game. In FnR you can counter attacks, you can recover if hit in air or ground, you can escape and punish grabs of enemy, you can recover by use super which if not loaded consume your health bar... And thats not all, in FnR are many difficoulty levels, and u can speed up whole game :D Thats just tip of iceberd :D SoR4 is ok, i generally like beatem ups, but FnR i one level above SoR 4 Greetings
WOah! This game was my doom eternal before I started playing doom eternal. Super glad you like it. Im a cherry main btw, super fast stylish gameplay coming from her. Edit: How could you not talk in length about the music in the game, what the fuck. Ive been betrayed.
Enemies coming out from the sides of the screen with a preset attack are more of an intended design, a big part of this game (and the previous entries) is memorizing enemy spawns and their positions and their modifiers (in certain parts of the game, doing certain actions at varying time results in different spawns, such as defeating certain enemies before others on a screen causes different groups to spawn). you can also utilize these spawns to your advantage (for example, on stage 4, you can kick the first 2 jumpkick-chicks directly into the pit if you kick them while their jumping into the stage due to the direction they jump and the velocity). Though I understand it could come off as cheap depending on how one approaches a game.
Thank you. Since you showed me how to play Doom Eternal and how it could be played and should be played, I, will be checking this out! You have good game taste! Please, more recommendations! (SORRYENGLISHNOTMYFIRSTLANG)

That green bar is 100% reminding me of Bloodborne's system of wanting you to be more agressive to get your health back.
It also provides almost infinite potential for improvment since you could always go riskier as you get better
