Absolutely Beautiful. I used to watch a portion of this video that was hosted on Sega's website back in the day just dreaming to get the game. Still have that mini .mov clip hahaha. I now have it, and i'm so glad
Play it on Dreamcast with the DLC. Even though the piano music is lower quality, the trumpets are a bit brighter and more realistic-sounding. If you don't have a Dreamcast, use Redream and the YZB Roms. Echelon roms are outdated and horribly optimized, so don't use those.
Great game. Played the Gamecube version like crazy back when it came out. Still have it, and watching this video makes me want to put it in my Wii and give it a go again. Never had it for Dreamcast. Dreamcast is more or less my "Shenmue-player", lol. Ah, SEGA how awesome you were.

Sad that no one made any fan made remixs of any of the fantastic tracks from this game cause this game has the best music right up there with Final Fantasy 7 and Shadow of the Colossus
This game is unbelievably good. I thought it looked kinda crappy at first and I just stumbled across it after getting my Gamecube so many years ago - I'm glad I gave it the chance it deserved because it's right up there as one of my favorite RPG of all time. It's DEFINITELY in the top 5... and a (PC) remaster or even better, re-make (yeah right... one can dream) would be so amazing. People don't like them because they're not original creations (or they're lazy) ...but for a gamer like me, and a game like this??? t would be an insta-buy. No questions asked. A lot of people will say "graphics don't make the game" but they do make part of the game and they certainly don't hurt - this game was not too bad back in the day, but it definitely wasn't great either.... even then... at least, it's definitely not on par with quite a few other titles on the DC .. not to mention the gamecube - it definitely has not aged well. The game has a ton of character, and there's lots of love poured into it, a re-make on the level of the Seiken Densetsu III re-make (Trials of Mana) would be pretty legendary... as long as they stay true to the universe. ...yes... one can dream. Like I said, it'd be an insta-buy. It'd be great if SEGA decided to do this instead of trying to ruin their Phantasy Star franchise xD (...:()
Lol, i had this game also but i never had the opportunity to finish it xD probably the greatest RPG on dreamcast with phantasy star online. The story was catchy...and the 2 girls, Aika & Fina, they were fine ! lol
mmm, I still have the old VGA adapter for my Dreamcast. I remember playing a bunch of this game with it... and Shenmue. If I ever set up a proper gaming room with multiple console areas, and multiple TVs, I'm going to try and find a fairly large 4:3 VGA monitor to use as a TV, and i'll hook up my Dreamcast to it. (Of course, I'd still use an old tube TV without any latency for anything older than the Dreamcast... and for anything newer than the Xbox 360 I'd use a 16:9 LCD)
@klodek14 True enough, SOA's lack of 60Hz and VGA was a big let down in PAL territories, especially considering Skies of Arcadia was one of the Dreamcast's greatest titles and just about every Dreamcast title supported them in PAL. The two greatest let downs in the Dreamcast's PAL regions were Skies of Arcadia and Resident Evil:Code Veronica's lack of VGA or 60Hz, of course you could just get the NTSC Jap/US versions and a boot disk or mod switch to run them.
one of the best soundtracks in a game ever :) can i just ask what version your using to run this in VGA mode as iv got the PAL copy and that dont support it!!!! downloaded a USA version but again did not support it lol....
@sybnios All regions of the Dreamcast had the SEGA logo, the European ver, Japanese ver and the American ver, all of them, the only difference was that the Euro one had a blue swirl logo rather than red/orange as you stated.
Do you think Sega would mind if I made an anime adaptation of this game? I'm pretty sure they would take the same approach to a fan-made anime as they would to a fan-made Sonic game.
I've got VGA, but unfortunately I have a PAL version of SoA. It's a great game, but Europe really got screwed. The PAL version not only does not support VGA, but it also lacks 60hz mode...
it is a pirate anime game where you fly around and there are random battles everywhere and if you get the GC version you can get other battles like fighting someone that thinks you killed her father but it was really the silvite ramierez
One of the greatest games of all time.
Hear hear.
God damn right this game is the absolute best
Yep 😊 👍🎉❤ my love forever 💓♾️
This needs to be ported to PC or anything on modern systems. Sega can't just leave this game's legacy. And it being expensive for physical copies.
I like how beautifully cinematic this is.
Yes, it is a whole history of human: love and hope, hate and justice ⚖️, fear and friendship... And love, of course ❤🎉😊
My absolute FAVORITE JRPG. Ever. If anything deserves a remaster/remake/rerelease, it's this game.
Since Sega is bringing back ips like Crazy Taxis and Jet Set Radio maybe one day they bring back this hidden gem of a game

One of the greatest games of all time and memories of
My childhood. This didn’t feel like a game it felt like an entire tv show series in one
One of the best RPGs ever made and the proof that the Dreamcast is a timeless console
Great vid! :D
Happy 20th Anniversary, SoA fans!
Every time I see it can't wait to play again
i wish they would make a sequel to this game and make it just as great like this :)
This is the only World in the Sky trope that actually works. It’s basically like Jupiter if it was earth size
Best game ever!
Sega Dreamcast had so much potential.
Greatest RPG to never become a franchise.
I want to agree with you so much... But, my friend, have you heard the good word of Rogue Galaxy?
Dang. The quality still holds up today.
I played this on the Gamecube. It's such a great game.
Play it on Dreamcast with the DLC. Even though the piano music is lower quality, the trumpets are a bit brighter and more realistic-sounding. If you don't have a Dreamcast, use Redream and the YZB Roms. Echelon roms are outdated and horribly optimized, so don't use those.
skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2 were the 2 best RPG's on the Dreamcast, IMO they are still two of the best RPG's ever made.
This game is SO FUCKING GOOD
I Love You Vyse 💙💙💙!!!
I Want This Game For PC and PS3!!!
Very clear image. VGA FTW
Great game. Played the Gamecube version like crazy back when it came out. Still have it, and watching this video makes me want to put it in my Wii and give it a go again.

Always been meaning to get a VGA cable for my Dreamcast.
Skies of Arcadia
One of my top 10 Rpgs of all time
Sega: Wants my money
Also Sega: No buy old, only buy new!

man
i'm starting a new game tonight.
mmm, I still have the old VGA adapter for my Dreamcast.

could never get into this game i thought it was just so so but many peaple keep telling me its a master peace
OH GOD I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!1
and people say the gamecube version looks better. lol
May not look as good, but the additional content more than makes up for that.
one of the best soundtracks in a game ever :) can i just ask what version your using to run this in VGA mode as iv got the PAL copy and that dont support it!!!! downloaded a USA version but again did not support it lol....
I love the game. I'm playing it in Redream. Still wating for a NTSC U/C Dreamcast. I've even downloaded VMU Explorer and the DLC.
the swirl is blue!, the Sega swirl is blue!, the god damn Sega swirl is blue! :P
It's only blue in Europe. In all other places, it's orange.
They should make a sequel someday
Sega said they would never touch it as they would just ruin it. I think they said that about a lot of their back catalogue
Awesome game, thx sega and thx ziming:)
@sybnios All regions of the Dreamcast had the SEGA logo, the European ver, Japanese ver and the American ver, all of them, the only difference was that the Euro one had a blue swirl logo rather than red/orange as you stated.
Why the blue swirl for Europe? That's my question.
@@aetheralmeowstic2392there was a game company in Germany called Tivola with a nearly identical logo
Fucking VGA has better graphics than gamecube. I'm jelly.
For some reason it kinda remembered me of Smash Melee's opening
@klodek14 that's the same thing. only pal games that don't work on vga are ones that don't have 60 hz feature. it really sucks yes
Hey it sounds like Zelda ocarina of time hyrule field in a way
Skies of Arcadia and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Do you think Sega would mind if I made an anime adaptation of this game? I'm pretty sure they would take the same approach to a fan-made anime as they would to a fan-made Sonic game.
There's an anime almost similar to the plot of Skies called Granblue Fantasy. Check it out
I've got VGA, but unfortunately I have a PAL version of SoA. It's a great game, but Europe really got screwed. The PAL version not only does not support VGA, but it also lacks 60hz mode...
@zachthezombie it is lol.....find it and play it :)
You can use Redream and YZB Roms (NOT Echelon roms, as they are outdated and terribly optimized. I learned that the hard way).
i just picked up the xbox 360 vga cable lol i think i picked up the wrong cable :P
Use the Dreamcast VGA Box.
Wow your first video thats not about Shenmue. O_O
Imagine if this game had big FMV cutscenes like Final Fantasy did.
yeah.. vga box really gives a lot of quality to dreamcast games... sadly 2D looks more pixelated
I have a VGA box, but I get that this game doesnt support my VGA box... Any suggestion here?
+Michal Bergseth only works with american and japanese versions of the game, not european
Yep, once again Europe gets screwed.
Only the United States version supports VGA output. That's right, not even the original version can use VGA output.
1st
Can someone tell me what is this game?
Rocker Bloster one of the best games ever made
Rocker Bloster One of the absolute best games: Skies Of Arcadia.
Its still mine and a lot of other peoples favourite.
