My favorite piece of music, always brings tears to my eyes. Exquisitely played with such emotion and lightness of touch. It lifts the heart. The best version by a long long way... A little piece of heaven.
This listener aint lazy. Sublime - I love to play this so loud - optimal - and my neighbours stand by and sigh. Is there anything more lovely? I don't think so - and when the violin goes high - am I strong enough to fly that high? I fall like a petal among the strings. Somewhere here is love - and yet I know I am a stranger
Jeez I can't believe I am the only commentator in a whole year. Nigel Kennedy is such a passionate violinist - I sometimes forget to breathe when he is in earshot. Love the man. And for those who have not appreciated in the past year - go back to the corner from whence you came - maybe next year
For many years have tried to find a piece of music to even compare for my ears, and is so quintessentially English. I can imagine years ago the Lark actually ascending over the meadows. N
Driving home in Bad weather tonight with a torn muscle in my shoulder blade area I swear this had a pain killing effect on me and had to Google it when I got home It's a far cry from my usual musical taste but very welcome all the same 👍 Cheers
He rarely conducts Vaughan Williams although he did a superb live performance of the Tallis Fantasia with the Berlin Phil some weeks ago which was on You-tube for a while.
i prefer the work as performed by Sir Adrian Boult and the LPO; Boult's close personal friendship with Williams ensured that the presentation would be exactly as the composer would have wished it.
Maybe having a pretty picture of the country would get more views :P Or maybe something a bit more fantastical... like a screenshot from Skyrim or something.
I've got to admit I am put off by Nigel Kennedy the man, but he is clearly the best performer of this piece amongst the many recordings I have. Everyone else just sounds clinical.
Why are you put off by the man - does he not wear appropriate socks or something? In my world Nigel Kennedy is every note he plays - as near to a god as strings allow. Who is he to you - how do you define him - by his shirt perhaps? Cardinal you are a very shallow person - be humbled by every note and beg forgiveness :)
I played this on the way to Cornwall when my dad, one of the finest human beings ever, died. I imagined he was like the lark, flying back to God x

The wonderfulness of sorrowful and nostalgic performance is unrivaled, indescribable and outclassing
Its the best performance of the piece that I know. Moves me deeply every time. Kudos to him for all time.

why has the second part have so few views? This is definately the best performance of The Lark Ascending I've ever heard.
For me this is absolute perfection, I only hope I can hear it as I breathe my last breath.

To die for - thanks for the upload
Beautiful
Great performance by Mr Kennedy. But Simon Rattle conducting Vaughan Williams! I'm deeply shocked.
He rarely conducts Vaughan Williams although he did a superb live performance of the Tallis Fantasia with the Berlin Phil some weeks ago which was on You-tube for a while.
sheer genius
Brilliant.
I want to finish my last life while listening to this favorite song .
Outstanding.

I have no idea. Maybe laziness of the listeners?

Clinical is a good word.

markdask He is God's gift to the violin..... and he is MY HERO !
I can't imagine how anyone can be put off by him either.
Adding a smile to the end of that didn't help you. I've reported you for Spam and Abuse. Oh hang on, no I didn't, I couldn't be bothered.
