Born in Tokyo in 1967, Watanabe graduated from Bunka Fashion College, Tokyo, in 1984 and immediately joined Comme des Garçons as a pattern cutter and underling of founder-owner of Comme des Garçons, designer Rei Kawakubo. Three years later Watanabe began designing the Comme des Garçons 'Tricot' line and after a further five years he introduced his first own-label collection in 1992. Although designing under his own name, Watanabe still works under the overall Comme des Garçons title, which administrates and produces his collections. In 1993 Watanabe moved his shows from Tokyo to Paris and another eight years later he launched a menswear line in 2001. Junya Watanabe is renowned for his avant-garde style; in particular, his exploration of new cutting concepts, his ingenious sourcing of fabrics and innovative draping techniques.

@FYIize i dont see theatrical. the somber colors, poses and walks seem to be just DRAMATIC. i did not feel emotional, i felt confused. i guess you have to love that beyond-fashion-show look.

its look like hard to know the real artist for the song, but some musician were work with Junya Watanabe like Michael Nyman , Ryuichi Sakamoto & Seigen Ono . they are great artist too.

@bettyboop17d I dont really think its about fashion anymore. This collection was beyond that level. It was so theatrical which evoke and brought me to emotional crisis.......... that's why its brilliant.

i feel like i dont have a single fashion bone in me. all i see is woman in curtain-like-dresses walking around with a weird cloth sacks on their covered heads. i dont get what's so beautiful and brilliant about it. dont get offended. all im saying is... i dont get it. but hey at least others appreciate it.
