Voilà la vraie musique du début des années 80, avec ces musiques new wave, batcave, industrielles, post-punk, EBM, etc.... Merci à youtube de ne pas nous le faire oublier.
Saw their first gig in St Bridget's hall Finglas when I was about 15 with Larry ,Adam and the Edge backing Gavin and Guggi have loved them ever since , U2 where doing TRB and Boomtown Rats and Johnny Thunders covers , real rock moment , who would have thought .
Saw them in august 1983 in the Inside Festival in Liège Belgium... Still got the entrance ticket 11€ to see Where Is China ? + London Cowboys + Spear Of Destiny + Virgin Prunes + Stranglers + T.C. Matic + Clint Eastwood... And yes I was a punk and I'm still punk in my mind and I still believe in no future sadly for my daughter !
I looked at my watch and I saw I had no time Didn't notice all the clocks on television Controlled violence on sale in new streets Don't delay in boring studios! Whatever happened to Emancipation Act '73? I think it's lost, yes it's lost In a world of satisfaction. No delay! Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Caucasian walk, Caucasian talk Because I can't do nothing, can't do nothing Seen is only truth in a shell of lies Distributed feelings to a race that doesn't comprehend I don't smoke, I just do it for the company Political problems, sexual frustration won't end It's the type of poison that doesn't count in life I think not of the glasses but of the drink Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words Caucasian walk, Caucasian talk Because I can't do nothing, can't do nothing
Is it really so impossible for the majority of the people to think that one can express rage and energy in music just because he wants to, not because he's on drugs?:-)
the irish dont need any substance or alcohol to vent emotions it comes naturally.... tasmania when a penal colony was mainly irish with the scottish just behind in prisoner numbers.... today tasmanian irish descendents can sure vent their feelings... i know i live here and am descendent of the original prisoner stock....
well the beeb carried a secret ban on them owing to their unpredictable stage performances... englands always been a land of repression.... hence the pistols
It was in our time heavy new wave, we played this song once on our radio atlantica in new wave a la carte ! We played it only once because there where so manny new Nem Wave groups comming up . BTW great times !!
yes a good point... this stuff is as important as any art period or movement in history.... oh well maybe one-day when the dark clouds clear... and school teachers cease to be passive dictators...
+Claudia D'Alessandro You're right Claudia!! I have been a fan of both bands since the eighties and never noticed the similarity until now (The bass line is almost identical)! Thanks!!
you are so very correct there.... krikey now that you point it out yes yes yes.... nice to hear what thurston would say in reply to this... and the guitar scratch... you made a valid point.... sonic youth are well known for plagiarization
these lyrics carry out strong sociopolitical meanings. By the way, awesome quality both audio and video, vary rare comparing to the genre and era! thanks!
jennifer young my exact situation........ played the shit out of this, never saw another copy in L.A. Always loved the 2 sided album with matching inner sleeve
i remember reading either in the face or nme... about a concert in a warehouse i think dublin and a roving catholic priest stumbling across this spectacle and calling the garda.... lovely bit of situationist planning there... a huge outcry ensued..

That sound from 2:15 has a freaking wonderful ominously goth tune in it. Goosebumps.
Still one if the best bands i have ever seen live
you profile pic have beatiful dog
Once seen, you never forget The Prunes!
Saw them at Heppys in Wakefield and about a week later at the Hacienda(both November 1983)
I love this almost exaggerated drama and eccentricity of the two...
an expressive hysterical energy pulsates through the song!
Gavin voice is incredibly expressive and very powerful .
Wow, this brings back a lot of nostalgic feelings down the memory lane. This is how postpunk should sound, feel and look...
Best band of the 80s.. Gav, you're still the man!
Not many groups have two vocalists , and very , very , few as effective as this !!
Virgin Prunes actually had 3 vocalists - Gavin Friday, Guggi and Dav-id Busaras...
NO TRUER WORD SPOKEN MELVYN there are others BUT NO BETTER 😊
Many groups have double vocalists dumdum. I'm gonna assume you've never seen a group with 2 Guitars either?
John Morrison Tears for Fears
#gameover
indeed....
Guinness and Virgin Prunes - Gawd Bless Ireland
Saw them in august 1983 in the Inside Festival in Liège Belgium... Still got the entrance ticket 11€ to see Where Is China ? + London Cowboys + Spear Of Destiny + Virgin Prunes + Stranglers + T.C. Matic + Clint Eastwood... And yes I was a punk and I'm still punk in my mind and I still believe in no future sadly for my daughter !
the perfect act in harmony that resonates best with such specific music
Oh my God.. The Prodigy live 1982. Beautiful a unique way of ventilation.
Criminally underrated.
WHAT A CLASSIC
THE WHOLE NIGHTCLUB WAS ON FIRE WITH THIS SONG
THE ABSOLUTE SONG TO DANCE BACK AND FORTH
You couldn't go to a gig or an alternative disco in the 80s,
without hearing "Baby Turns Blue" and "Sex Beat" by the Gun Club
I was fortunate to see the classic Prunes play one of their last gigs live in Dublin. What a show !!
Love them. Gavin and guggi singing.Like a mix of the pistols and susie and the banshees.
Crazy and fantastic group ! Virgin Prune for ever !
Années lycées......nostalgie...Dublin........Guiness , et Virgin Prunes.......c'était le top !
im so in love with their live performances
This song starts steady , then rips you right up , into a frenzy !
Absolutely brilliant. Guggi and Gavin. . Those two bounced off one another. Punk hip hop . Brilliant..
and Weinar cabaret. Don't forget the performance based component here
One of my favorite tracks of that era. Such combination of vocals and eerie post punk sound can't be duplicated
I love how Dik doesn't move.
i remeùber the show at Rouen France in1982.....for me one the best incredible show never seen...!!!
Such power - they had no idea.

Caucasian walk, Caucasian talk
Because I can't do nothing, can't do nothing
Seen is only truth in a shell of lies
Distributed feelings to a race that doesn't comprehend
I don't smoke, I just do it for the company
Political problems, sexual frustration won't end
It's the type of poison that doesn't count in life
I think not of the glasses but of the drink
Like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words

john walton get a grip, I just noticed a resemblance in the bass line.

Delish music 😂 I love Virgin Prunes🎉🎉🎉
unforgettable
This blows the studio ver out the water, btw.
yes this stuff has to be viewed upfront... i mean guggi's eyerolls.... hollywood has to rely on special effects to do similar
The worst group I ve seen in my life. The Palace Paris 1982
Che dire... grande Gavin
I vantaggi dell'essere 50enne sono quelli di aver goduto gli anni più alternativi e di aver visto concerti.. uno dei miei gruppi preferiti
Bravo, approvo ogni tua parola!! ; )
Superb superb

You know your raiking about .
Wore this album out in 1985: Had to go look for a new one, it was hard to find as it wasn't American. What an original and innovative band. -J.YO'
