@@PlayHookywithMe my pleasure. I really enjoyed watching your video. very easy to understand. but here where i live not easy to get those yarn surely super expensive too.
Hey thank you so much for this wonderfully helpful video! I’ve just started learning how to crochet and kit and your videos are great! I’ve been working on a finger knit blanket with size 6 yarn like the one you demonstrated but it looks a little wavy like it’s wider than the base stitch. I thought it would straighten out but I’m on the sixteenth row now. the thought of going back and redoing it is a little painful especially because I was hoping to give it to my friend before her break is over. Do you have any tips or do I have no other choice than to start over or go back far enough where the decrease won’t be as noticeable?
Have you by any chance worked with the loopy yarn? I have some and am wondering how you'd finish the end you began with to match the end you cast off on. I have some loopy yarn and would like to see something more of a straight edge on the end you started at to the end you finish with.
I keep meaning to try it but never have . You could feed the loops into each other like I do with the finger knit blankets to fasten off . but I’m guessing it will be tight because you don’t have control of the sizing of the loop . Hm, you’re right it’s a dilemma. I hope you find a resolution! I’ll have to get some and try it myself ❤️
I tried 3-4 rows and the braids vertically look well, however, I have a spacing between the braids (columns) and you can see the horizontal lines, is there a tip for that? Maybe I am knitting them too loose, not sure did you understand my question 😁
Yes you can , it will just take longer and be a little more fiddly like this yarn. So I would recommend you use the tips that you saw in this video . 🧶💕
Love your video. You mentioned slipped loops and how to fix it with a crochet hook. What do I do if I see the dropped loop after many rows? I've been unraveling back to the dropped loops but there's got to be a better way. Thanks!!
Yes, that’s a dilemma and I couldn’t figure out the way but I’m sure, like you, believe there must be a way. You could also try stitching them in place like I share in this video . Go to tips and tricks 5:26 . ruclips.net/video/W04XjdXjVIc/видео.html
Hi Millie, So far, I've only worked with the BIG CHUNKY finger blanket that "Play Hooky with Me" has demonstrated in another video, but this trick may work for you with these yarns more effectively than having to pull out lots of rows you've just worked so hard on. If I find a dropped stitch a few rows back, I cut a couple of inches of yarn from the tail end of my working yarn, and loop it around that specific stitch. Then I look at how the pattern of yarn would look if the stitch had been picked up correctly. Using my little piece of yarn, I connect the dropped stitch to whichever nearby opening best mimics the repeated pattern of my correctly made stitches. Once connected, I tie a knot in the yarn, and do my best to hide the knot from sight. As I mentioned, this works well when making The BIG CHUNKY finger BLANKET, or the BIG CHUNKY finger BALL POUFS, but it might also be worth a try with these smaller yarns. I am NO expert by any means, but this has saved a couple of my projects when I have found a mistake (even after they were finished). Hope that helps!
I've made a few chunky blankets with Bernat extra thick yarn. Mine were large (the size of a full mattress). Do you recommend blocking these blankets and if you do how do you do it.
I’ve never blocked mine before but if you want to you can pin it too a rubber mat and steam it -- either with a steamer or an iron but don’t let the iron touch the yarn-it will scorch it/burn it. For the mat I mean something like the squares you fit together. I bought a set in the children’s department that are numbers and alphabet . 😆 works like a charm and is cheaper than the ones sold in quilting department. 💕
I think I put the average measurements in the description box below the video . For a toddler you would need about 2 skeins. A young adult blanket (e.g. 4ft x 5ft) would take approx 3.5 -4 skeins
I used your ideas and knit a larger blanket with a number 7 yarn, but it seems to be longer along the side. Did it stretch? Is there anything I can do about it.
I answered on the tip video Also be aware that yarn does naturally stretch (even with real knitting and crocheting) so don’t be too hard on yourself with it. If it’s something you can’t be happy with, though, I shared a suggestion on the other response 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe Yes, that is what happened as it drooped over the table edge. The center was in my lap, but the edges not. I learned a lesson that you must fold it up as you go along. It was a gift with a time element involved sadly. I will try pulling it in the middle to make the sides less noticeable. If it had been thinner wool, I could have tried blocking it. Disappointing, but lesson learned. REALLY thank you for your answer though. Much appreciated!
Not really 😐 you can add a border to it to give it a little more width . You could add rows along the long side but they’ll go in the opposite direction from the rest of the blanket. I have tried to attach to the side (going in the same direction) but you will have a noticeable ridge on the back side. I’ll be doing a video about it in a few weeks but those are basically the suggestions I’ll be sharing. 💕

I made this video primarily for those needing tips on working with thinner yarn and who wanted to make a baby blanket. But if you have trouble let me know - send me the measurements you want to use and I’ll try to give you a guesstimate. 💕
