I kind of lucked out since I was waiting on Halsin to be available, but clingy Gale was just the worst! I like him a lot & he'll have his spotlight in my game eventually but he was a handful trying to swat away.
Literally had the same issue in act 2. Had to romance Wyll to get the confrontation to break it off. The only problem is now I found out how heart broken Wyll is, his dialogue is crushing. So now I'm in it for the long haul with Wyll instead of Halsin 😮😮😮 oops
This tore me apart. I was trying to romance Gale at the start of my playthrough, but Astarion was more willing to go forward with things. So that's the direction I ended up going and Gale gives me the "We need to talk" icon. 😢 We're still really good friends, but playthrough I'm fully dedicating to him.

He was opening his heart and soul to you. Even showing the illusion of his home. Kinda like, if you prepare a very romantic night for your lover then the next morning they say "eh it's fine", that's a bit hurt imo

The hesitation with the cursor flicking about every option is so relatable, I always struggle to pick one companion to romance in roleplaying games as well (also your Tav looks very unique, lotsa fun was had in the character creation!)

Like IRL I have to ask people point blank “are you flirting with me or just joking? And if you are flirting are you flirting as a joke or because you want to pursue me?”
Oh god that's so me. I was told I was flirting with someone, and that it was inappropriate, but I honestly wasn't trying to or even had any idea I was coming across as that? I thought I was just being friendly. Then again men tend to perceive simple friendliness as flirting too so sometimes the misunderstanding is their fault. I don't want to flirt with anyone. I accidentally lined up the timelines for Karlach getting her second alloy and Astarion confessing his feelings to happen on the same night - Astarion’s cutscene beat hers to the chase, and she was ready to pulverize me… and not in a fun way 💀 So TIL Karlach can get incredibly scary 😂
Wyll is the least red flaggy of them all are you kidding ?? Gale's somewhat obsessed with power and Mystra. The only downside with Wyll is his pact :OOOO Wyll is a sweet romantic and loving cinamon in a shiny white armor è0é Edit: [SPOILER ACT 3] Even though the boat scene is freaking awesome when Gale tells you that "you'll never be not enough for me" Wyll is the safest choice imo ~

I believe if he had more things to do on his questline he'd be better then Astarion, I say this as my main issue with Astarions plot is how little it ties into the actual story, while Shadowheart and Lae'zel have entire main story character moments, Wyll also kind of does with Ansur in a way, Karlach in a sort of same middle ground as Astarion and Gale, having little connection to the main overarching story (other then Gortash) and not much interactivity, just, go here there and talk to them done (Other then Gortahs again ig) I don't hate any of the characters but Wyll has my least fave story as I wish he did more in it. I wish he had more... change... Gale has his arc of realising he's a grooming victim, hating Mystra and is furious about her demands, blinded by rage when he tried to show compassion and love to the goddess he adores, and all she showed was neglect and carelessness in their relationship, then banished him when he tried to do something nice but it backfired due to an unexpected turn he never could have anticipated. Then sends his friend to tell him his ex demands he kill himself now, as it's the only way to save the world, then proceeds to immediately find another way to save the day. Like... wth Mystra.

I had two playthrough with Gale and Astarion romance. Astarion is charming, yes, but Gale, well he is so kind, so smart and gentle, just the man of my dream 😍 Yeah, he had abusive relationship with goddess and he is literally a walking bomb but who cares? He is just perfect for me
I somehow managed to romance him while actively trying to romance Astarion, in the end I chose Astarion but oh man would I have loved to be with Gale too 😭 in another playthrough 😤
Seriously, I accidentally romanced Gale - and I was starting to think, “oooo actually I like this,” but then he friendzoned himself. Next time, I’ll have to focus my efforts because now the approval glitch is fixed, I feel like they’ve over corrected so it’s easy to accidentally friendzone him if another companion takes interest
This happened to me. Did the magic thing and left, he flirted a couple of times when he ws traveling with the group, my character was fully romancing Astarion. Withers said something about bosom buddies and both showed up on the chocies. I was a little confused since nothing actually happened with Gale that suggested him as a bosom buddy and then after having a conversation with Astarion about liking each other (can't remember what triggered that when you tell him you like him), Gale was all mad about not letting him know you choose Astarion but there was no you need to dump Gale choice when talking to Astarion first. After that there was a scene where your sitting with Gale looking at the scenery (impending doom of him blowing himself up) and he wanted you to sit with him but at the same time all nice dialog chocies made him mad. I think he even said we weren't friends or that close. The same thing happened on another play through with Wyll. You dance but no kissing an all of the sudden you are in a relationship. At least he was nicer about being friends when you broke up. I think the magic scene with Gale is described in such a way it's actually like Mystra is watching you and Gale.
Apparently him getting pissed at all the nice dialogue choices when you're looking at the stars was a glitch that has since been patched. I had flirted with him a few times but never had to turn him down (I had to turn down Wyll for Astarion) and I felt like my only dialogue options were either "sucks to suck, dude" or romantic, no platonic choice available and he got soooo pissed at the romantic dialogue, I read a month later that Larian fixed Gale's "attitude problem" during that scene.
Hm....I should create a tall, buff elven female wizzard and go this route. It seems fun! Well, that and I don't think I'll be able to suffer through another trauma that is Karlach's romance.

Granted, it was 10 years ago, but it's still fairly fresh, especially since his recent death. Do you know if you can proceed in both romances past the first 2nd romance scene with one of them? I only just got the dance scene with Wyll and didn't have the actual chance to bond really with Gale just yet. Is that chance gone once you kiss Wyll?
Gale doesn't share. I don't know about Wyll. But yeah, if you had the dance scene with Wyll you should get Gale having this jealous scene right after the dance scene and if you choose him you will also get Gale's romance scene, so yeah technically you can get both romance scene, but can't carry on with both romances. I hope it was helpful!

I remember the night after I did the deed with Karlach Gale wanted to talk with my character so I talked with him and he told me all of this and I was like "Huh?????" I barely took him with me in my travels, he essentially never leaves the camp and whenever I talked with him it was to feed him magical artifacts/items. (My party consists of Shadowheart, Karlach and Astarion. Ffs I've even had Wyll and Lae'zel in my party more than Gale) This was definitely on Gale because I dropped heavy hints that I was trying to romance Astarion, Halsin and Karlach and unintentionally Lae'zel (I ended up going with Karlach in the end)
I kinda wished he was more reistent to fixing things i feel like going from absolutely crushed and heart broken to overjoyed that you prefer him even without a proper apology or cooldown moment just feels really desperate and sad and i wish it wasnt so easy to fix makes it feel empty like you can break his heart without consequences
the point is that he is a broken and lonely person and is fine being trampled on. also, im not exactly sure why he should apologise? he just caught you cheating on him. if you want to look at it from a 'realistic' human perspective, he shouldnt even be asking which one of them you want since by that point any emotionally healthy person wouldve just dumped your ass also spoilers for act 3 act 3 circus confirms that he genuinely believes the world would be better off if he was dead. when you choose him he becomes elated because he feels like someone is actually caring about him and that hes alive.

I had this happen after 1 dance with Wyll. What I want to know is how Gale knew? No one else saw us; it was in the middle of the night and everyone else was supposed to be asleep.
I like, that in the origin version of his audience with Mystra, you can tell her that you didn't sacrifice yourself because you have moved on from her and there is someone else now, while during the Act II finale you can justify refusing the explosion with not wanting to harm all of your friends. I wish the none-origin version of Gale had some way to express similar sentiments.

I had to kill Gale temporarily in act 2 because he kept popping up in my butler scene instead of Astarion. I never once flirted with him and even got this scene and rejected him beforehand but HE STILL THOUGHT WE WERE TOGETHER. It made the butler's comments meaningless since I didn't care if the urge did the thing to Gale at that point.

Yeah, I accidentally romanced Gale in my first play-through and I It’s just happened again and again ever since. He’s definitely a giant romantic softie and the least 🚩🚩of all of them.

I accidentally lined up the timelines for Karlach getting her second alloy and Astarion confessing his feelings to happen on the same night - Astarion’s cutscene beat hers to the chase, and she was ready to pulverize me… and not in a fun way 💀
So TIL Karlach can get incredibly scary 😂

Wyll is the least red flaggy of them all are you kidding ?? Gale's somewhat obsessed with power and Mystra. The only downside with Wyll is his pact :OOOO Wyll is a sweet romantic and loving cinamon in a shiny white armor è0é
Edit: [SPOILER ACT 3] Even though the boat scene is freaking awesome when Gale tells you that "you'll never be not enough for me" Wyll is the safest choice imo ~

@@Lleanlleawrg His story is incredibly well written, and is an incredibly well done metaphor. I believe if he had more things to do on his questline he'd be better then Astarion, I say this as my main issue with Astarions plot is how little it ties into the actual story, while Shadowheart and Lae'zel have entire main story character moments, Wyll also kind of does with Ansur in a way, Karlach in a sort of same middle ground as Astarion and Gale, having little connection to the main overarching story (other then Gortash) and not much interactivity, just, go here there and talk to them done (Other then Gortahs again ig)
I don't hate any of the characters but Wyll has my least fave story as I wish he did more in it. I wish he had more... change...
Gale has his arc of realising he's a grooming victim, hating Mystra and is furious about her demands, blinded by rage when he tried to show compassion and love to the goddess he adores, and all she showed was neglect and carelessness in their relationship, then banished him when he tried to do something nice but it backfired due to an unexpected turn he never could have anticipated. Then sends his friend to tell him his ex demands he kill himself now, as it's the only way to save the world, then proceeds to immediately find another way to save the day. Like... wth Mystra.

I just finished my run as Gale, where I could not romance him since I was playing as him. Now I started a new one with the intention of romancing Astarion but it's going to be difficult I cant say no to Gale :((
All I did was agree to dance with Wyll and before I knew it he suddenly wanted to kiss Tav.
I only talked to him twice and he did this to me when I became official with Astarion. He's bugged as hell

I had two playthrough with Gale and Astarion romance. Astarion is charming, yes, but Gale, well he is so kind, so smart and gentle, just the man of my dream 😍 Yeah, he had abusive relationship with goddess and he is literally a walking bomb but who cares? He is just perfect for me

Next time, I’ll have to focus my efforts because now the approval glitch is fixed, I feel like they’ve over corrected so it’s easy to accidentally friendzone him if another companion takes interest

This happened to me. Did the magic thing and left, he flirted a couple of times when he ws traveling with the group, my character was fully romancing Astarion. Withers said something about bosom buddies and both showed up on the chocies. I was a little confused since nothing actually happened with Gale that suggested him as a bosom buddy and then after having a conversation with Astarion about liking each other (can't remember what triggered that when you tell him you like him), Gale was all mad about not letting him know you choose Astarion but there was no you need to dump Gale choice when talking to Astarion first. After that there was a scene where your sitting with Gale looking at the scenery (impending doom of him blowing himself up) and he wanted you to sit with him but at the same time all nice dialog chocies made him mad. I think he even said we weren't friends or that close. The same thing happened on another play through with Wyll. You dance but no kissing an all of the sudden you are in a relationship. At least he was nicer about being friends when you broke up. I think the magic scene with Gale is described in such a way it's actually like Mystra is watching you and Gale.
Apparently him getting pissed at all the nice dialogue choices when you're looking at the stars was a glitch that has since been patched. I had flirted with him a few times but never had to turn him down (I had to turn down Wyll for Astarion) and I felt like my only dialogue options were either "sucks to suck, dude" or romantic, no platonic choice available and he got soooo pissed at the romantic dialogue, I read a month later that Larian fixed Gale's "attitude problem" during that scene.

I guess it hurt worse watching this, because I went through a heartbreak myself when my husband didn't want me or our four little ones, and left. Granted, it was 10 years ago, but it's still fairly fresh, especially since his recent death. For those years of separation, the kids and I still had hope that he would get his life back together and come back to us. No such luck.

Do you know if you can proceed in both romances past the first 2nd romance scene with one of them? I only just got the dance scene with Wyll and didn't have the actual chance to bond really with Gale just yet. Is that chance gone once you kiss Wyll?
Gale doesn't share. I don't know about Wyll. But yeah, if you had the dance scene with Wyll you should get Gale having this jealous scene right after the dance scene and if you choose him you will also get Gale's romance scene, so yeah technically you can get both romance scene, but can't carry on with both romances. I hope it was helpful!

I remember the night after I did the deed with Karlach Gale wanted to talk with my character so I talked with him and he told me all of this and I was like "Huh?????" I barely took him with me in my travels, he essentially never leaves the camp and whenever I talked with him it was to feed him magical artifacts/items. (My party consists of Shadowheart, Karlach and Astarion. Ffs I've even had Wyll and Lae'zel in my party more than Gale) This was definitely on Gale because I dropped heavy hints that I was trying to romance Astarion, Halsin and Karlach and unintentionally Lae'zel (I ended up going with Karlach in the end)
I kinda wished he was more reistent to fixing things i feel like going from absolutely crushed and heart broken to overjoyed that you prefer him even without a proper apology or cooldown moment just feels really desperate and sad and i wish it wasnt so easy to fix makes it feel empty like you can break his heart without consequences
the point is that he is a broken and lonely person and is fine being trampled on. also, im not exactly sure why he should apologise? he just caught you cheating on him. if you want to look at it from a 'realistic' human perspective, he shouldnt even be asking which one of them you want since by that point any emotionally healthy person wouldve just dumped your ass

act 3 circus confirms that he genuinely believes the world would be better off if he was dead. when you choose him he becomes elated because he feels like someone is actually caring about him and that hes alive.

I like, that in the origin version of his audience with Mystra, you can tell her that you didn't sacrifice yourself because you have moved on from her and there is someone else now, while during the Act II finale you can justify refusing the explosion with not wanting to harm all of your friends. I wish the none-origin version of Gale had some way to express similar sentiments.

I had to kill Gale temporarily in act 2 because he kept popping up in my butler scene instead of Astarion. I never once flirted with him and even got this scene and rejected him beforehand but HE STILL THOUGHT WE WERE TOGETHER.
It made the butler's comments meaningless since I didn't care if the urge did the thing to Gale at that point.

This has annoyed me. In my most recent play through i was trying to get with gale. Done all the romance checks then suddenly i got this scene. I'd only been friendly with Wyll. And even when i chose Gale the game seemed to glitch, so it was like i picked Wyll 🤔
