The Racking Horse is a gaited breed from the United States. They are known for their gait called the Rack, a smooth four beat gait, where only one foot strikes the ground at a time. Similar to other breeds that are born with ability to trot, Racking Horses are born with the ability to Rack. The Average size is 15.2 and around 1,000 lbs. They come in a wide variety of colors. The breed is known for their beauty, stamina, and calm disposition. In 1975 they were named as Alabama's state horse. Over 80,000 horses have been registered with the Racking Horse Breeders Association of America. There are two methods of registration: 1) Proven pedigree of registered parents including blood type. 2) Open registration where the horse is evaluated and has to meet certain standards of temperament, gait and conformation.

When I was a kid, American Saddlebreds came in 3- and 5-gaited classes. Has this breed developed out of that?
No they definitely didn't they're not really racking it's a single foot they're all pacing the only difference between a racking horse and a walking horse racking horse don't shake his head

You never really specified the "Breed"? Saddlebred,Standardbred,Rocky Mountain (fox trotter?) I'm still confused
Hi Pat, thanks for the question! Other breeds are able to rack as well, but the breed in this video is the Racking Horse. The registry is managed by the Racking Horse Breeders Association of America. Here is a link to learn more about their history: www.rackinghorse.org/history/
That used to confuse me a lot when I lived in Al. But I spent some time around them and was really impressed with the ones I met. A perfect temperament and easy to gait them.

If you want the best for your horse, don’t get that bit. They’ll be fine in a snaffle or the most a mild shank bit.

What is it about the bit that you like? How can you tell anything about it from this video? It looks quite severe to me with that really long shank. If you think you need a severe bit, I would tell you what you need is the patience to properly train your horse and yourself instead.

@@ziaurrehman9576 Why do you need it? I don't know the extent of your horse knowledge, but no bit will cause a horse to use the racking gait; it's a natural gait of some breeds.
