Gorgeous and amazing! I appreciate the slo-mo and stills. In the 1960s my uncle had a big beautiful Palomino that racked. He said it was a very smooth ride, and it sure looks it. Thank you for posting this.
WOW I am a Saddlebred person( 3 and 5 G's) from a TB track family and all I can say is WOW !!! This is fabulous , I read down where she retired a trotter and I too would never have believed it . Great job and the mare looks happy.
I am also a Saddlebred person. I never saw the great Wing Commander in action, but I have been told by people who did see him show that nothing could come close to his speed and style at the rack and trot. Most of the Saddlebreds of today could not rack with this mare.
This is SO COOL! I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, so all I ever knew was thoroughbred racing. This horse is STUNNINGLY gorgeous and I enjoyed having a small peak into a different aspect of horsemanship!
While I realize this is a Standardbred, I'm so excited to be able to see the TWH industry finally breed for this perfection rather than the disgusting Big Lick they've prized for so many years. this right here is beauty and grace. Perfection at its finest
I still enjoy watching this beautiful mare even though I've bought 3 TWH's since I first saw her. She's awesome...I would love to see her in person sometime. Good luck from Florida 😎
That is quite a horse. That gait leaves the rider moving forward with very little movement. How does this affect the hooves and limbs of the horse after some time?
Well, the main concern is overreach, where the horse (esp. when tired) can get careless and hit its front hooves w/ its hind hooves. Hence the "overreach boots" on the front legs. Over a long career they seem to end up with stifle problems more than anything else.
Such a regal, beautiful mare. This shows the abusive racking freaks that you don't need tie-downs, hard hands, and other harsh practices to get your horse to do this. But I do suggest at least a smaller shank. Or a D-ring or snaffle for the bit. I just don't think this bit is needed sense she's already got the rack perfectly. But you shouldn't need it to begin with. And for the riding position, your stur-ups shouldn't be at the horse's withers. But absolutely amazing either way.
If I’m not mistaken, she’s wearing a hackamore in at least one of the action scenes…it looks like a long shanked curb but the pivot point is too far back to be a bit, so I’m guessing hackamore. If so, I would say it’s a pretty gentle one as high up as the noseband sits. Hard to tell though with as fast as she’s moving! I, too, was a little taken aback by the “seat” of the rider!
@@lareemcra347 You know you're free to give criticism right? I was just trying to give advice. I don't know too much about racking horses, but his seating does look a bit off. If there's any advice you can give me then you may.
@@staceyevans2315 It's completely different from saddle seat, hunt seat, or dressage. Because of the motion of the horse, the rider assumes more of a "feet on the dashboard" posture if the horse does not require and leg pressure to keep him up on the bit. To teach the gait to a horse that naturally trots, the trainer usually must put the horse in an unnatural and ugly looking form which is then gradually changed back to proper form once the gait becomes muscle memory. The old trainers called it "turning one upside down". I showed 5 gaited saddlebreds for years and have owned all most all breeds of naturally gaited horses too. Real naturally gaited ones will do a pretty even (not syncopated) 4 beat gait on a loose rein, no collection needed. With a trained trotter you use your reins, voice, legs and body weight to cue up the rack and you must maintain collection. With a pacer I never had much luck but it can be done.
She be a rackin' alright,a real winner.Looking at buying (maybe)in a couple of months.Working on the property hunt now.I will keep y'all in mind.Want to go gaited so we can enjoy a friendly race with the neighbors now and then.Thank you
Beautiful horse!! Correct Seat, perfect saddle. Looks really professional. BUT......why all that junk in His mouth? And so much pressure in the reins? We get our icelandic horses to do the same thing, and we never have to jerk their heads into a Tight position.. and some of them only with side pulls . I am just curious..
I've been gaiting horses about 70 years and I still can't explain how I do it. But if it can trot, it can rack, gait, singlefoot, or whatever you want to call it.
Only thing I hate to see is people hanging on their horses' mouths when they're racking. This is much better than big lick, though. They should sit in better places though, and not balance themselves on the horse's mouth.
The most I could give is to not use abusive practices. Such as pull on the bit, whip the horse etc. Just take the training slow and make sure your horse understands what you want them to do. While respecting them at the same time.
You can train any horse to gait like that I have an 18 hand wild mustang that I gaited and a quarter horse that single foots it's all about taking them slow and gradually building up the speed to match the smoothness or the gait
lol you guys have no idea what you are talking about. guess I'll have to post a video. just because you guys can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done and I know aqha horses naturally run, trot, canter. my mustang doesn't travel as fast as the horses but she does the fox trot and speed rack quite well.
I train them with two leg hobblers to get the concept one down at a time. and we work the hobblers in the round pin until he starts to work them very well it won't be pretty at first but if you take them slow they will get it then the rest is just riding and correcting the horses steps
I have a TWH, that switches back and forth between trotting and gaiting. He is barefoot and does this out in the pasture, according to his mood. Nobody had to train him to do this.

IMHO standardbreds off the track are awesome and very underrated.

She's breathtaking !
Fantastic gate , beauty for sure
Such a beautiful horse!!
Beautiful front end very smooth fast and eligant

I assume it's just like any other pace? Not a hundred percent sure to be honest

Always someone who has never gaited a horse giving advice on how to ride one.

I've been gaiting horses about 70 years and I still can't explain how I do it. But if it can trot, it can rack, gait, singlefoot, or whatever you want to call it.

Hey do y'all know how I can get my horse to rack
YOWZAA!!
Would anyone be able to tell me how to get a speed rack out of my rocky mare. She flat walk and racks but its super slow.

Reginald Bracey so how do you train them to walk like that I mean what do you use
Reginald Bracey, Mustangs and AQH DO NOT SINGLE FOOT! This gait is called a rack, and mustangs And AQH trot. Sorry 😐 it ain't the same thing. :')
Also ... an 18 hand Mustang lol
lol you guys have no idea what you are talking about. guess I'll have to post a video. just because you guys can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done and I know aqha horses naturally run, trot, canter. my mustang doesn't travel as fast as the horses but she does the fox trot and speed rack quite well.

I GIVE U 3000 FOR HER
MrLonglongtime Really?? Good luck with that!
Made to walk this way by torture?
Don't be stupid, Imca.
Actually, many horses are naturally "gaited" - they used to be very popular before cars as gaited horses are very smooth to ride.
I have a TWH, that switches back and forth between trotting and gaiting. He is barefoot and does this out in the pasture, according to his mood. Nobody had to train him to do this.
Imca vdB Please educate yourself before you accuse someone of torture! 😡
