    Excited to see how the rest of this turns out! Especially since being the remake means that there will be a good number of routing differences compared to the RB TAS MrWint made of the same goal. Already has a good few differences such as being able to reset immediately instead of at Celadon, and it'll only change further from here.

    Yooooooo awesome work so far!! So much juggling to optimize between the two RNG's (Primary and Secondary). Gen 3 tas are definitely more impressive / difficult to manipulate it seems @_@

    Amazing video, and great TAS so far. It's clear to see that a lot of hard work has gone into both routing and excecution (or I guess finding the needed inputs). Can't wait to see the finished product

    Great to see another one of these and awesome work so far! I love the Pickup abuse. I'm a little curious though, why not catch multiple Meowth to get more/faster candies? They seem like they'll be a huge help when evolving the fossils and dragonite, which I'm assuming will be a major bottleneck.

    • @gabraltar7506
      @gabraltar7506  5 месяцев назад

      there isnt actually a lot needed, Red needs 22 while Leaf needs 7, both of which are amounts easily obtainable in the amount of mandatory battles + overworld candies
      even though dragonair, the fossils, and rhyhorn need a lot of exp, factors such as lucky egg, exp share, trade boost, and the simple fact that theres enough mandatory battles, makes it very much possible to get enough exp for all of them with just a few candies
      plus, more meowths doesnt necessarily mean more candies, the chance of getting more than one is extremely low since theyre all rolled at once (so you cant get multiple through help menu). you could get them faster, yes, but not by a substantial enough difference to make it worth catching another

    • @grantcarlson8524
      @grantcarlson8524 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@gabraltar7506 I see. Yeah if they're all rolled at once I guess having multiple meowths just saves you a few frames of manip time, so that's not worth another catch (plus then you need to manip the other meowth to NOT pickup an unwanted item at the same time). One minor suggestion: could you add a note about when Pickups are happening to the annotations? There's no indicator when it happens in-game, and the menuing taking the items off meowth happens so fast it's easy to miss. Excited to see more!

      @gabraltar7506  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@grantcarlson8524 that's actually a good suggestion. I can def figure out a way to display the team at all times and what items theyre holding. It will especially be nice when I need to switch between using Exp Share and Quick Claw and all that

    you didnt comment on obedience, was it easy to manipulate squirtle not attack itself??

    • @gabraltar7506
      @gabraltar7506  5 месяцев назад +1

      I did comment on obedience at around 18:29
      and it's not always easy to manip around disobedience since it ends up effecting the crit roll. I had to use help menu a lot to manip the crit roll w/o changing the obedience roll

    Just been thinking about what would need to be done for a national dex diploma gen 3 run and here are just some of the horrors:
    •gamecube games cannot be used because emulation complications
    •because of that all 5 gba games have to be used each one has an exclusive Pokémon at least, so you would have to plan 5 games at once and get each the diploma.
    •you have to beat the sevii island 3 times for each legendary beast, so one Kanto game will have to reset after all that
    • that’s fine right? You can get all 3 Kanto that way and each hoenn game can get a different starter, what’s wrong?
    •JOHTO STARTERS, you must beat the elite 4 in emerald and complete the hoenn dex to get ONE starter, so have fun doing that 3 times

    • @gabraltar7506
      @gabraltar7506  4 месяца назад +2

      even with all that, it's still impossible because ruby and sapphire (but not frlg and emerald) require ho-oh and lugia for their diploma, which are not obtainable in any non-game cube game. at least if were going by the rule of having all players get the diploma, which both diploma tases so far have done. also the current tasable emulator used for gen 3 linking only allows up to 4 players (I think)
      if it was somehow possible to make a tas that traded between a gba system, and a gamecube system (fwiw it technically is possible to trade between a gamecube emulator and a gba emulator, just not in a tas setting atm) it would be possible, as XD has all of the missing hoenn pokes from Emerald, thus eliminating the need for Ruby/Sapphire. The two combinations of games that get all the necessary pokes are FR/LG/XD/Emerald, and LG/Colo/XD/Emerald. Funnily enough, LG/XD/Emerald is enough to get every single poke *except* Qwilfish.
      Either combination would require Emerald to complete the game twice, in order to get both lati twins. It would also need to do an additional early reset for the third starter.
      The Colosseum combo has the advantage of having easy access to both the johto starters and the legendary beasts but having only one kanto games makes it a huge hassle to get the Kanto starters. LG will need to complete the entire game + sevii islands three times because trading with any of the other games is not unlocked until completing the postgame sevii quest. (Its the case for emerald, im not 100% sure about the gamecube games but every source online says its the case for those games as well)
      The FR combo has the obvious advantage of eliminating that problem as FR and LG can trade between each other without completing the game. However, it still requires one of them to complete the sevii quest twice for the legendary beasts due to the lack of colo. The bigger issue, however, is the johto starters. Emerald can get one after completing the hoenn dex and XD can get one after completing Mt.Battle so either one would need to do their respective task twice.
      The colo one is likely better but it's still an immense amount of work, at least 5 times more than this tas alone. So even if it was somehow possible to make a tas that traded between two different game systems, I probably wouldnt do it. There is, however, a diploma for both RS and FRLG for completing the regional dex and I am currently working on both the RS and FRLG diploma

    QQ. How u plan gwt 3rd eevee?

    • @gabraltar7506
      @gabraltar7506  6 месяцев назад +1

      breeding. leaf will breed the eevee and then trade the egg over to red. red then does 10-15 minutes of pure biking while leaf finishes the remaining tasks (mewtwo)
      this does require red to defeat the champion since eggs cant be traded unless both sides have national dex. though this is a time commitment for red, red will likely have time to wait after completing his final tasks (keep in mind leaf has several extra fights + cutscenes to go through) so red will have time to do the league + hatch the egg

    If using two games is not enough to get full National Pokédex, why not use more? (Emerald or whatever is the best third game to use). Is it just you didn't want to do it or is there some technical reasons/limitations?

    • @gabraltar7506
      @gabraltar7506  3 месяца назад

      You need all of Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald to complete the National Dex in gen 3. Doing it w/o Emerald still leaves you w/o several johto pokemon and Emerald is missing a couple of Hoenn mons, one of which is exclusive to Ruby and another is exclusive to Sapphire. Even with all of those, Ruby and Sapphire are still unable to get the national dex since those two require Ho-oh and Lugia (which ironically, the other three do not)
      With a gamecube games in XD, we only need four, as it has all of the missing hoenn mons from Emerald, thus eliminating the need for Ruby/Sapphire. As it stands now, it's not possible for a tas to trade between GBA and Game Cube (because they're two completely different game consoles lol) but assuming that an emulator would be made to allow for that, it would be doable. We'd need four different games and there are two different combinations that allow for the full National Dex: FR/LG/Emerald/XD, and Colo/LG/Emerald/XD. Ironically, LG/Emerald/XD get every single poke *except* Qwilfish, Murkrow and Delibird
      Either combo would require Emerald to complete the game twice and reset, in order to get both Latias and Latios. It would also require Emerald to do an early reset to get the third Hoenn starter.
      The Colo/LG/Emerald/XD combo has the advantage of easy access to both the johto starters, and legendary beasts, as it can get all of them in one save file. However, having only one hoenn game requires LG to complete the game and the sevii islands quest *three times* for the kanto starters, as trading with any other non Kanto game is prohibited until then.
      The FR/LG/Emerald/XD combo eliminates this problem as FR and LG can trade in between each other whenever they'd please. However, they'd still need one of the games to do the entire game + sevii islands quest twice for the legendary beasts, as those are tied to whatever starter you pick (Raikou to Squirtle, Entei to Bulbasaur, and Suicune to Charmander) and you can't get more than one per save file w/o trading. The bigger issue tho, is the Johto starters, as w/o Colo, the only ways to get the Johto starters is by either completing the hoenn dex in Emerald, or completing Mt Battle in XD. One of the two games would need to do that *twice* in order for everyone to get all three johto starters. The Mt Battle option is def faster but it would still probably take well over 4 hours for one run.
      Of these options, the Colo option is almost certainly faster but it's still an *immense* amount of work, at least 5 times more than even the gen 2 diploma. Even if the technical limitations weren't a thing and it was actually possible, I would still be hesitant to do it but it would certainly be a possibility.
