I'm honestly still trying to unpack everything she said in that last minute. You have to remember she's not just related to the man, her breakdown of Trump is what she's an expert in.
I still can't understand how ANYONE seeing this"man" on TV, in ALL his appearances, as ANYTHING but a narcissist. And very usually, uncaring about anything that didn't validate that every time he was in the spotlight. And how could anyone vote for that? Ever?
I would really like to better understand that as well. I was raised backwoods in one of the reddest states in the union, almost all of my family adores Trump, and I just don't understand. I really don't understand. This conservative white Evangelical CANNOT understand. At ALL. I feel like 2016 took my family, my party, and my church. But my God can't be co-opted no matter what malpracticing "Christians" say. So there's that. Black Evangelicals are a light showing what church is supposed to be.
Some people are easily enchanted by narcissists. It appeals to a sense of narcissism in themselves. For those isolated narcissists who have yet to truly dive into their madness, the years of lack of self-reflection and empathy are given succor by the appearance of someone that displays a similar way of being. This is why to many Trump is their only option, because he makes them feel human. But to be a sociopath, to be aligned with them, is to feel anything but human. Some of these people can't stand the idea that this may be true. They're not entirely disordered like Trump, but in the absence of an alternative, acceptance is the only path to validation of their need to matter, and be acknowledged as people. Its what narcissists home in on, and its why they tend to target empaths to nullify their ability to do the same for these people in a more positive way. I wish I could, but I don't seek people to fix like they seek people to control. Empaths can't compete the same way. At least not as we are now.
Example, the words above, even being true do nothing to actually fix the situation, and for all intents can be seen as lacking in evidence and merit... But if you could for a moment, embrace that it is the truth, perhaps you can have insight from it that I cannot. The ability to perceive these things doesn't I herently mean we have the answers, but I can tell you, with confidence that what is happening to these people isn't accidental, and that there is a reason why we're all sick. A key that might help understand the situation us to look up what its like to be in a relationship with a narcissist... Then look at society as a single entity. Then understand the different types of individuals that could be in a relationship with a narcissist. Codependent, enablers, victimizers, helpers, lovers, addicts, what have you.... And realize we're all of them. All at once. This is why were all obsessed the same way. Why no contact is the only way out.
I will go to my death bed having never fully understood it myself. I mean clearly they're either weak minded or like minded, or both. But beyond that, how can SO many support him??
I think she's pretty cool and down to earth. She doesn't come off as a person just trying to make money, rather a desperate plea to stop a repeat of 2016.
Her professional insight is helpful to help us understand how Trump has evolved since childhood. He is a damaged person but he has chosen to turn to the dark of life rather than the light. He could be redeemed if he lived by the Christian faith he claims to have. He has been badly misled by those who are also badly misled. In my opinion obviously. People may not agree. That's ok.
She is a highly educated, strong, forthright, and sincere woman who isn't afraid to speak Truth to Power( even if it's family)- the type of person that frightens 45 most.
Turnout is crucial to an electoral landslide that will wipe out any electoral fraud on the part of the Republicans and their allies, Putin and his army of hackers and trolls. So a way to make sure he's voted out will be to assist in getting out the vote in any way you can. Whether that be by volunteering time or giving money to bona fide voter turnout organizations, one way or another everyone must make an effort.

The Trump checklist... SOCIOPATH 1. Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors, as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest. 2. Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure. 3. Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead. 4. Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults 5. Reckless disregard for safety of self or others. 6. Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations. 7. Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another. INTERACTION 1. Interpersonal: This category involves interaction with other people. In this area, someone who is a sociopath is superficial and incapable of deep, meaningful relationships and connections. It might seem at first that this person is very attached and caring, but that's just an act. A sociopath is antisocial; he is capable of lies and deception in order to get his way, but he cares nothing about forming real friendships and partnerships. 2. Affective: This area deals with emotions and feelings. When it comes to the affective part of being human, the definition of a sociopath is someone who completely lacks empathy. He simply can't take the perspective of others or understand (or care) how someone else feels. When a sociopath is hurtful, he feels no remorse. If it's good for him, he doesn't care who's hurt in the process. A sociopath has no conscience. 3. Behavioral: Someone who is a sociopath is impulsive and unreliable. As a result of these traits, the sociopath also lacks the ability to set long-term goals. Further, he can't, or won't, accept responsibility for his actions. 4. Antisocial: The definition of a sociopath centers on this concept. This person stands apart from the rest of society; he exists for himself and only for himself. He cares nothing for the norms, rules, and laws of society. Accordingly, a sociopath has a history of juvenile delinquency and likely has a criminal record in adulthood. At their essence, sociopaths are social predators. Hallmark traits of sociopathy are a lack of empathy and a disregard for societal norms, the rules both written and unwritten that help keep the world safe and fair for all. The sociopath can be defined as someone who cares only for himself and lacks the ability to treat other people as human beings. A sociopath is someone who, because he is antisocial with no conscience, ignores reality to make his own uncaring and selfish life." www.healthyplace.com/personality-disorders/sociopath/sociopath-definition-extremely-antisocial-no-conscience - - - - - - - NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATH The traits and behaviors of a sociopath are chilling enough on their own. Almost unbelievably, a narcissistic sociopath intensifies sociopathy and takes it to another level. People are toys to the sociopath; to the narcissistic sociopath, they are trash. Sociopathy combined with narcissism can be extremely dangerous. Beware of the narcissistic sociopath! A sociopath doesn't care if he's benefitting anyone. Cold, calculating, and manipulative, he doesn't think about others at all unless they can benefit him. A narcissist believes he's great, that everything about him is magnificent. He knows with unwavering confidence even beyond conceit that he's benefitting everyone around him. TRAITS - A driven quest for power. If a narcissistic sociopath cares about anything other than himself, it is destructive power and control over people. - Behaviors that seek love and admiration. To be sure, this isn't needy love. It's not even emotional love. A narcissistic sociopath sees love and admiration as power tools to manipulate and dominate. - No apologies, no guilt, no remorse under any circumstance. A narcissistic sociopath believes that he is a gift to the world who makes it richer and more colorful. Therefore, his calculated, even cruel actions are always justified. - Invincibility. The narcissistic variety of sociopath believes he is indomitable. Even punishment and prison can't stop him. They're merely part of the game. - Wholly self-serving. The needs and wants of others are insignificant and undeserving of consideration. - Act as the producer, director, and only actor of his own show. The narcissistic sociopath casts people in roles that increase his power and sense of importance and when bored, he casts them aside. www.healthyplace.com/personality-disorders/sociopath/beware-the-narcissistic-sociopath

The lawsuit over Fred Trump's estate was in 1999-2000, and that mostly ended Mary Trump's contact with her family, I understand. She writes that she was very surprised to be invited to Ivanka's wedding in 2009, and she re-connected with Maryanne Trump. She's probably not in a position to comment on Donald's drug use after the turn of the millennium. It's not really necessary, though. There are other people who have, and you can see it first hand, too. The pupils of Donald's eyes are frequently fully dilated even in public appearances in bright lights. You can tell he's on drugs.

A thing that stuck in my mind after I finished the book is that somewhere deep down you have to feel sorry for Donald Trump. Becoming what he became as a member of a disfunctional family is something that you do not wish to happen to any child. Having said that: enough is enough. It's time the US stops this dangerous nonsense and puts a stable executive branch in place. And, by the way, forces out those in the legaslative branch that enabled and prolonged this mess and profited from it.
Now while Donald Trump shows sociopathic tendencies, Mary Trump here clearly shows academic tendencies, and that's a very good thing. Academic qualities are some of the best. Notice how she said something that wasn't as accurate as it could have been, and she caught herself and corrected it to be more accurate. That commitment to scientific and accurate speech and not be hyperbolic is a great thing to have in a person.
Mary Trump is so intelligent and articulate. You have heard the expression the best of a bad bunch, well this separates Mary from the rest of the Trump clan. She is brave to express her views, very brave! She has been treated very badly by the Trump family, the same as her father was.

This isn't just a family member talking about "Crazy Uncle Donald", she literally has a career in understanding what makes people act & behave the way they do. Her credibility in making these claims is through the roof.
Now, I know what it really means academically when we use terms like "high-functioning", but I still have to make this joke... It's hard for anything to be high-functioning when it comes to Trump.
Mary Trump comes across as genuine and is cautious in her answers and descriptions of DT. I sense she is truly attempting to give a clearer picture of the family dynamics and validating the reasons that many of us have observed that make this man a danger in his role as President.
If i knew Mary Trump, i know we would be fast friends! She is so smart. And seems moral and ethical and educated. I trust her as a sincere person who came forward as a mitzvah to help stop another 4 horrid years with trump in the White House.
Society is wired to reward being a sociopathic narcissist. As long as your behaviour makes a number bigger, you will be rewarded, you do not become a billionaire by caring about anyone but yourself or passing up any opportunity to take more than your fair share of any resource anyone else has!
This was the one where, to me, she talks like a scientist. And in the rest of the clips, she doesn't really come across as just a complainer. Credibility.
One thing she said which really struck me is that this country has trouble holding people accountable and that she fears her uncle will continue to elude responsibility.
yeah.. 'high functioning' isn't a term I'd ever associate with Donnie. Unless you're talking about how he can't function at all without a snoot full of adderall.
Despite what the acts the Bush's have done during their presidencies, none of their family members came out against them like this. Even Ronald Reagan's son about his father.

Yea, family that sued him 20 years ago because she wanted Fred’s money. I don’t believe scum bags looking for a pay day. She’s telling you how Donald’s relationship with his father was? She was a child. This is hysterical.

Donald Trump is a sociopathic narcissist.
“Could not function in the real world on his own” amen
It is refreshing to see someone promoting their book without feeling the need to charm the viewer.
@stephen bridge
silly little man
I still can't understand how ANYONE seeing this"man" on TV, in ALL his appearances, as ANYTHING but a narcissist.
They see someone they relate to.

That's ok.

1:15 The doctor makes a small mistake, catches it, says "Sorry" and corrects herself immediately. DJTrump would never say "sorry" if it indicated he realized he'd made a mistake (because he never makes mistakes, right?). The Trump checklist...
SOCIOPATH
4. Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
INTERACTION
A sociopath is someone who, because he is antisocial with no conscience, ignores reality to make his own uncaring and selfish life."

NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATH
The traits and behaviors of a sociopath are chilling enough on their own.
TRAITS
- A driven quest for power.

I hope someone asks her about trump's self-medication. She said he has co-morbidities, so is drug use one?

I wonder how much he will like the next institution he's going to?
If i knew Mary Trump, i know we would be fast friends! She is so smart. And seems moral and ethical and educated. I trust her as a sincere person who came forward as a mitzvah to help stop another 4 horrid years with trump in the White House.
It takes about 30 seconds to be able to, with supreme confidence, know that this woman is infinitely smarter than Donald Trump.
