So... Strawberry Jam was just getting released in 2007 and they were on the tour for that album, which most people still hadn't heard, and then they were like "and we have a few new songs for you" and debuted several songs including this one from MPP. Nobody even knew they had so quickly written a new album so soon after Strawberry Jam. I remember going to that show so excited to hear the Strawberry Jam new songs and then they just started playing even more brand new songs like this that melted my mind. One of the best concert moments of my life.
For a long time, I was thinking it's a simply happy, primitive and psychedelic song, because I'm not very good at listening to English lyrics. But recently I noticed that it was meant to cheer up his brother. Coincidentally, my close friend is also going through a hard time in his life. And just now, listening to this song, it really brought tears. Instead of a boring preachy message, he made the music about energy of life and emotion itself, and how to amplify it. I didn't even know that something like "WAAAAA!" was his brother's name, for 10 years. I'm laughing while crying
That is so much of animal collective and that is what makes them so amazing. Their music captures the way the world feels as an innocent, goofy, and curious child. I love it so much.
This almost made me cry. It is such a beautiful reminder of our love and imagination and creativity which knows really no bounds; only when we grow older does that change... I love you, Animal Collective.
It's only until we're fully grown that we have a really good shot, unfortunately. Just kidding, I agree. And as a fully grown adult I never tire of this track
I think that is a huge part of spirituality and creativity in general. What Samuel Taylor Coleridge called "the Imagination". We lose it sometimes when we feel down, and then we can get it back again.

This song is about the lead singer Noah, trying to reach out to his brother after their father's death from brain cancer. The chorus is written as "brother sport" but is sung as "support your brother", which is the jist of the song. His brother became emotionally catatonic after the death and he's asking him to reach out and express himself

+Zolbek You don't know what you're talking about. Panda and Avey are humble as fuck. If I had to guess why people hate AnCo it would be the fanbase, or the fact that they are commonly namedropped among pretentious hipsters. Which is weird considering they are probably the most popular band from the underground. Or maybe people just don't like the music, y'know? Which is fine too
Zolbek Give me one example of Avey Tare or Panda Bear acting arrogant. Strange you claim I'm speaking from my headcanon when your reply is complete fiction.

You've got his way and what he said
To help you shape the way you play
You've got to get rid of the mourning
Sort out the habits of your mind
[Avey in background:] "You've got to have a real good time"
You got to weigh all he said
He helped you shape the way you play
You gotta get rid of the mourning
Sort out the habits of your mind
You got to weigh all he said
He helped you shape the way you play
You gotta get rid of the mourning
Sort out the habits of your mind
You got to weigh all he said
He helped you shape the way you play
You gotta get rid of the mourning
Sort out the habits of your mind
Woo!

Until you're fully grown
You've got a real good shot
Won't help to hold inside
Keep it real
Give a real shout out
Until you're fully grown
You've got a real good shot
Won't help to hold inside
Keep it real
Give a real shout out
Until you're fully grown
You've got a real good shot
Won't help to hold inside
Keep it real
Give a real shout out

The fluidity of their music beats water.
Am I the only one who gets chills everytime I hear it? It's just so beautful. I never want it to end. :')
I have only watched this video while baked, people are talking about meaning in it that I have no idea about - my mind just melts each time I watch it
This is so fucking beautiful.
also, thanks for being level headed in your response instead of pulling the "you just don't understand" card
This tickles my brain.
The point of the music is either to relax yourself or get high and listen to. This is perfect for either.
this is absolutely amazing
props to the director
One of the best music videos ever made.
Thank you. He would be proud.
animal collective always has the best music videos.. So good!!!
all time favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Headphones and mushrooms and this video last Friday.
I'm sober, and I'm tripping out from this video. But on the brightside, this is one of my favorite bands, so I listen to them casually. Haven't listened high though.
Oh my god my best friend is the little girl in this lol I haven't watched it in years I forgot how little she was
That is really cool! Where did she film this?
that is seriously cool
Yeah right!?
She commented in this video, you can contact her if you want
Stfu
whoever did the animal/creature drawings of this video, we must be from the same planet. utterly identified
Fml has it been 12yrs already......
Future me please remember to come back.
I remembered. I'll always come back. Don't forget future me.
summer time adventures is what this song is made for. dancing and going all out.
..and they occasional trip to two.
Isn't it amazing how Animal Collective was able to perfect the transmission of lysergic acid diethylamide through a sequence of quickly flashing images?
One of the most beautiful of all Internet Music Prezzies
15 yaers old today, holy moly i'm an old person now :)
This song is my favorite. I love the video too, seriously I would kill to see Animal Collective live.
Why do people hate this band? Wtf?
lead singers a hipster who's full of himself
+Zolbek You don't know what you're talking about. Panda and Avey are humble as fuck.
If I had to guess why people hate AnCo it would be the fanbase, or the fact that they are commonly namedropped among pretentious hipsters. Which is weird considering they are probably the most popular band from the underground.
Or maybe people just don't like the music, y'know? Which is fine too
Holy cow talk about head canon lmao
Zolbek
Give me one example of Avey Tare or Panda Bear acting arrogant.
Strange you claim I'm speaking from my headcanon when your reply is complete fiction.
+GoodmorningCaptain Really it looks like most of the hate is coming from /mu/. Over the past half a year they've been talking shit about AnCo and now it's cool to hate on them. They're a fucking brainless hivemind and none of them can have their own opinion about music unless it's what the rest of /mu/ thinks. If you think it's good music, that's all that matters
